  • There is a beef brewing on UA-cam as some of the platform's biggest stars - KSI, Logan Paul, Mr Beast and DanTDM take aim at one another over... kids snacks?
They said it might never be done. Rivals, the Jilly Cooper novel has finally been adapted for TV and it is all that could be hoped for. Marina & Richard break down the show and why Cooper is a powerhouse of literature.
Paparazzi are still hounding celebrities with Sydney Sweeney giving an insight into the lengths some are going to in order to photograph her. After a brief period of moral correction, have we gone back to some of the darker days of celebrity reporting?

This is just the tip of the iceberg with these UA-camrs. Mr Beast pretty much torturing people for a game show, Logan Paul scamming his fans through crypto rug pulls, and yet the mainstream up until now just seem to ignore what has been happening. It’s time that UA-cam, Twitch et al should have to adhere to the same standards as the BBC, ITV and SKY

Their whole point has been "you can do whatever you want on UA-cam" but that clearly would end up causing problems along the line.

Let's not forget Logan's worst behaviour - making content out of a suicide-by-hanging in Aokigahara in Japan, which he described as a "lapse in judgement". The glorification of this clique of Tubers and their ilk is disgusting.

The store already sells bad stuff, but some brands are for not much money. But this is food as a marketing advertising card, supposedly to appeal to people who know who MR beast is, and to push boomers like me, who don't really get the lottery style draws on X/Twitter, and his hunger game vlogs on YT. No, im not a subscriber, but i do subscribe to around 10 YT channels, some one-and-off, others pretty i'm loyal to. And, i just feel like this is a garbage product. That "1% tone off thing", the perfect example of this is a BBCs adaptation of Terry Pratchett's Guards books, The Watch! Sky and Aardmaan's interpretations of Terry's work were far from flawless, but they had the tone right. But the BBC, tried something different with The Watch and the tone was so far off, it was universally hated. The thing was, it's was actually well made and enjoyable, and would probably have become a cult classic if they'd removed the discworld references and just done it as humorous cyberpunk.

I think part of the problem as even to you guys don’t realise - ksi and Logan Paul do not own a majority in prime - they are not the ceos or founders, they are marketing gimmicks (albeit each with a 20% stake). Prime is owned in majority and manufactured by Congo Brands (60%) co-owned by Max Brands and Trey Steiger.
It’s why it’s pisses me off when they say they are making a business - they aren’t as you rightly say - maybe they come up with some advertisement ideas but they didn’t create the drink sort out all the details etc. They are no different to UA-camrs with shadowraid legend or nord vpn or surfshark sponsors, they just have managed to sell themselves for more (impressive in itself).

As with a lot of music not just UA-camr music, it doesn't matter if it's good music companies just want it to do good numbers. It's trending number 1 on UA-cam and has 27 million views when I just checked. It's terribleness will just make more people check it out and its a vicious cycle. Record companies don't want good art, they want bankable songs that make money, and looking at the news today KSI is a judge on BGT, which translates to more audience numbers and therefore more sales for adverts for the production.

7:55 The problem for me saying "They're both doing the same thing" is that, yes they're selling similar products, but they're going about it in totally different ways, the advertising dynamic is completely different
For instance, nobody is buying Lunchables because they want to support Kraft, but there's almost certainly a group of consumers that would buy Lunchly instead of Lunchables because they want to support KSI or Logan as creators despite them already having ridiculous levels of generational wealth
You could argue that Kraft advertise to the parents of children, where Lunchly is directly targetting the kids themselves the same way Prime did.
If anyone wonders what I mean by "the same way Prime did" ask yourself this - Are parent's going to see a product advertised and buy their kids hundreds of pounds worth of it at inflated prices on their own accord? Of course not, that whole situation was because the kids were so desperate for the new social status product that it spawned all that madness, especially once the price gouging started
The entire schtick for Prime and Lunchly is that if you're not drinking/eating it at school you're not part of the cool kids club, like iPhone vs Android, and they even picked the enemies too in Powerade/Gatorade and Lunchables
On another note... How long until Lunchly gets sued by the company manufacturing Lunchly for them once the hype dies down and the sales plummet like Prime? Which my local corner shop had priced at 4 for £1 yesterday

My big issue (aside from Logan being a scammer etc.) is that these people have cultivated an almost cult-like following of children. Children who cannot (or, perhaps, will not) think for themselves or act rationally.
They should be legally allowed to release things like this, but if they are abusing the somewhat unprecedented level of control they have over millions of children to sell them processed garbage during an obesity epidemic, they have no right to be respected.

I hope this brings new regulations. It’s disgusting that KSI and Logan, and their friends can hold a bottle of prime, drink it, have it in the background and they do not have to have a symbol or disclaimer saying ‘paid product placement’ they have undisclosed ads which is illegal.

Coffeezilla has been calling out Logan Paul for years now digging into Logan. Historically, its very clear that Logan is an exploitative, irresponsible scammer and there are victims of his scam (Even though he's defiantly denying it and is recently suing Coffeezilla for defamation on his crypto!) and how Logan Paul still has an audience is both seriously concerning and disgusting.

I do think celebrity culture is slightly better, but the bad aspects are not gone, they just transformed. Hitpieces in the past were mocking, now they are packaged as concern. Fans in the past were happy to get the attention of their favourites just enough to get an autograph. Now fans use celebrities to gain attention to themselves, running towards them with phone already in hand. I've seen a video of Dua Lipa just walking down the street and a woman jumped in her space, phone already at selfie angle, then security swatted her away and making her drop the phone, but she didn't even flinch, she just picked it up and continued. Also a Dua Lipa example was her sharing an image of herself on social media that a paparazzo took, and the latter sued her for not asking for permission to use it, even though he didn't get permission to photograph her in the first place. They are all parasites.

UA-camrs have very big egos and very thin skins - there are quite a few out there who think they are a deity and that they are untouchable. KSI is due to be seen on Britain's Got Talent auditions - this will go down well for them .. not. BGT trying so much to get new viewers joining, as their ratings collapse every year as more people get bored with the same dull turgid crap pumped out by Cowell and Co.

  • @ceesmith
    @ceesmith 3 дні тому +3

Not a fan of Paul, KSI or any of them, but as for the song being the worst thing ever, it's not. There's a decent Country vibe with the guitar and an ok chorus. It's not high art but neither is it rubbish. The worst part about the song is the promotion of Prime but that has nothing to do with the song itself. There's a tendency to want to put down anything these youtubers produce and then it's everyone on the bandwagon. You should aim to be fair in all things.

The sheer cheeky irony of going on about celebs selling products and endorsing them and then slipping in an advert for a sky show that they clearly haven’t watched and yet that segment is filmed in the same tone as their recommendation section is off the charts.
