He was battling against the trend of people watching films at home rather than going into a cinema. and seemed rather scared of the social media - especially UA-cam. it's a pitty really. i wish he'd seen the amount of love people display for him on the social media and how much his wonderfully wonderful earlier movies can now be watched on the internet thanks to youtube and other sites. people get to know about his career from IMDB and Wiki, etc. this is so much more than a theatre run of 2-3 weeks or 2-3 broadcasts by a TV channel.
i loved Alan Rickman in Die Hard and Robin Hood (childhood movies for me) but didn't see him in anything else until 4 weeks ago when Die Hard was broadcast on tv (and i saw it for the 10th time) then I decided to watch the Harry Potter saga - on a PC screen and on my TABLET, fell so deeply in love with the way he acts that since then i've seen most of his films and interviews on my TABLET or SMARTPHONE (about 1-2 films a day). just finished watching Gambit on the bus going to work. i wish i could assure him that this is just as wonderful an experience as sitting in a cinema (where sometimes people are too busy chatting, kissing or rattling their popcorn bags) on your tablet/ smartphone, with your earplugs on, you have the entire movie to yourself, you can really sink into it. gosh ! i wish could write a letter to him in Heaven but i don't know how to send it. maybe i should buy an owl
