Great job! However, be very careful when repairing a G mechanism. These are very complex and very hard to work on. The clutch assembly operates the whole loading and unloading mechanism but it also drives the tape-up and supply spools.

Damn good job! I believe I have that clutch as well as other G chassis parts NOS in my stash.

Check my video on g chassis mech if you need to know how to align it

Great video! In the video you say that you may find the part number for the broken clutch assembly. I have some parts lists but it is difficult to identify the correct part. Could you share the number please :)

Hi. I have an issue with the ag-w1. I only get a black and white or red monochrome picture according to the setting i use. I tried all norm combinations. Im using a pal n tape and a ntsc-paln-palm tv. Any suggestions?

Do you sell a head remplacement for that VCR?

How common is that part in other VCRs? 1 to 1 fit, or it has to be from Panasonic models of similar build?

    • @iRepairElectronics

very common in any g-chassis mech from panasonic, sylvania, magnavox

Can you shoot me over some model numbers for sylvania and magnavox? I have the exact same issue as shown in your video, but am not familiar with vcr chasis codes.

Hi..does this mean that any AG VHS model from panasonic might have the part?

    • @iRepairElectronics

No, the AG Series refers to panasonic's commercial line of VCR's.

I have a machine like this that works good. However, what doesn't work is that I can't switch it to another system on the front panel nor on the other panel!
It always stays on THROUGH nomatter what I try to do. So I can't transfer PAL to NTSC or whatever. The panel seems to be in good shape, but it doesn't respond to any buttons that I press on it!

you cant toggle through them wile the tape is playing. you should be able to when tape is stopped. set to whatever then hit play and should stick to whatever you se it to.

@@iRepairElectronics Yes, I understand that. When the tape is in stop position the THROUGH lite stays on, no matter what button (ntsc, pal, secam etc..) that I press. I can't select any other position.

@@berryhabekotte1055 sounds like the flex cable from the panel to the deck might be bad

Hi, not sure if you can reply to me, is this machine high durability? I mean, does it require belts for driving? What will you grade this vhs deck? Does it a real high end model?
So far I have a well maintenance JVC HR S5000, and I am ready to collect nv-w1 deck, just want to know more about this deck and whether it worths or not. Thanks.

I never understood why these manufactures would want such over complicated designs when they already have much less complicated (and well designed) setups. Less parts - less cost to build - longer lasting and happy consumers. Go figure ...
