This paint refresh works! Recently I got a '73 Raleigh Sports, green. I was quite surprised about the front hub design. There is a fixed cone on one side and an adjustable cone on the other. And these cones have a little shoulder that fits into the forks. Then the hub nut on the adjustable side is used to jam the adjustable cone. So one adjusts the hub while the wheel is mounted. - fantastic engineering!
what is a good ratio for a hilly area? I'm around south wales valleys, not much flat around here, I've been keeping my eyes open for a cheap or reasonable, project, fixer upper.
In the catalogue it seems to be a Trent with a chaincase and nothing more. Above the Trent and below the Lenton Tourist. The black & green bikes seemed to be treated as a separate range altogether. Car and motorcycle manufacturers were doing the Gay Look thing at the time, so I reckon this was Raleigh seeking to capture a different set of buyers more focused on weekend leisure than the traditional workaday roadster folk.
Your regular reminder that Rowan (and Ella) needs our help if this channel is to continue. Please join and become a Velocipedian or thank him. These will allow him to continue sharing his knowledge and passion with us.
Thanks Andy as always. Ella needs another £100.. I can supply most of it later in the week but the tickets are going up in price almost daily now! Situation nail-biting! Thanks for the help thus far, everyone who has chipped in

NOOOOOO you cant do that with the wheels, its not because you cant, its because all the anoraks will kick off and annoy the crap out of me :) lol
It's a podger spanner.

24 teeth is the biggest Sturmey Archer sprocket, so id go with that and a 44 chainring to annoy the 2:1 anoraks 😀
I do wonder what nich the boulevard tourist filled
