I studied economics, with some specialization in Public Choice (basically economics applied to politics). This episode does an AMAZING job of showing why bureaucracy is so inefficient and slow. It's not that one particular interest is evil. The problem is finding the optimal way of acting which will satisfy all the necessary powers to move forward takes time and energy, sometimes that which we don't have.
