The first deck that I purchased was the Tarot of Pagan Cats.... A mini deck I found on Amazon. It's super cute and the artwork definitely resembles the rider waite deck, but with cats and I love it so much 😻
You did a really good job with that video. Your presentation is clear, easy to understand and you don't lose time with unnecessary things like searching a box or talking too much about yourself. Your pretty good and I encourage you to do more of these.
Omg!! I swear I was given the Sharman Caselli deck as a birthday present when I was like 13-14(or somewhere around then(so 15-16 years ago)). Thank you so much for jogging my memory ❤️🌸 And if you ever want to read the German little white book or at least bit of it, then I’m happy to help.
I can't get on with the RWS but once I got the Shadowscapes deck I totally fell in love with the Tarot & find that a really easy deck to read and really beautiful to look at.
Great Vid! I agree...Rider Waite is a great beginner deck. I still love that deck. Kitty Kahane is a great deck for a collector. I have it and love it. WoW...you have a great bunch of decks xx
I love your sweet energy in this video. I could feel your authenticity, which I appreciate as I'm just now introducing myself to the world of readings and I've come across some videos with somewhat of a spiritual ego. This was refreshing, I wish you the best!
I loved the Hudes deck you showed! I'll be looking for more videos showing it, unfortunately, looking online- It is crazy expensive. Such a bummer, but it was awesome to see it suggested here because I had not seen it before! Awesome video!!
A very nice set of decks there. I had heard of the Moroccan one, but had not seen one. Looks very nice (some older decks to appeal to the collector in me who also enjoys history and trivia). The Druidcraft is one I would consider getting for the future, very earthy. Thanks for sharing. Peace.
I have to agree with what you said about the court cards from the Hezicos deck. They are such close head shots, you don't have anything else to "get hits" from for ideas of meaning. You simply have to just know what that court card means. The rest of the deck is so cute though! The Hudes deck really is lovely. I was so fortunate to order it from Barnes and Noble back in 2014. The deck was only 18.00 and the book 13.38. Quite a bargain considering the prices I see them for now!
Oh nice score!! Yeah, the prices have skyrocketed, even since I made this video! They were going for $30-50 at the time! Funny how OOP deck prices fluctuate so much!
Thank you for this video! I'm trying to find a deck that appeals to me but is also beginner friendly! I want to choose intituivly but I'm also afraid of choosing a difficult one!
I absolutely love the centennial tarot and it has become my everyday deck. I love it that much that I have the set, the cards on their own for a duplicate and the tarot in a tin :D Great video x
Great video Katey. I would also call myself an intermediate reader and I agree with your recommendations. I love that you mentioned a lot of my faves, including the Sharman-Caselli! That was the 2nd deck I ever owned. I also own the guidebook as well as the edition that comes in the box because my dog ate my first copy. You have to search for Kelly Bear's reveal of the Sharman-Caselli, her commentary is hilarious! Love
+byfeatherbranchandstone Dog's actually eat books (and homework?!!)? Haha oh, you have to laugh! If I ever find another copy at Savers, I'll be sure to pick it up for you :) I'll have to go watch Kelly Bears video! :)
Hi there, which 2 decks did you mention around the 2 minute mark? Centennial and I couldn’t quite catch the other one. You said they were yr favourite 2 decks. Thanks
Hi katey thankyou for your video. Ima beginner do we need so many decks is it because we see a new one out and wanna buy it? Other than images tarot decks are all the same really, I just have one deck the everyday witch tarot. Should I buy more decks, maybe because I'm so used to the images I might not be able to read other tarot cards. I was thinking of maybe getting tarot of a moon garden or kawaii tarot because the pictures are not too obvious what the cards mean it might test me to remember the card meanings. Any advice I'd be so grateful thankyou so much Carly xxx
Hi Katey first time listener and thank you for your kind and wonderful advice. I have been reading for a very long time off and on. Only have the one deck but thought i'd like to get something with mermaids i do have the oracle Doreen V. Unicorn cards and i do like them but just wondered if you could recommend any Tarot Deck with a Mermaid Theme. The Elemental Tarot by Caroline Smith and John Astrop is a great deck but when i put it down and don't read for months to family or friends i find i still lean heavy on the book. The Sharmon Caselli Tarotl looks special to me too. Look forward to listening to more of yr. videos. and Thanks again it was fun listening to you. much Blessings to you and yours
+breanne love hey there! I don't have any mermaid tarots, but a lot of people love the Dame Darcy Mermaid Tarot. It's an indie deck, so a bit pricier. There's also one by Lo Scarebeo, I think! I hope you find what you're looking for! X
I agree about different types of readers too! Good video! Because I think the rider symbolism and system is important but the slight more simple variations really appeal to me. I didn't realize the scary cards where scrambling my intuition when reading until I saw gentel versions! Like holy crap im a tarot pussy and didn't know it!
I use and enjoy the Rider-Waite for it's RIGHT and LEFT handed themes. Do you use any other decks that illustrate the Right, "active" (yang) showing what the characters are currently doing with their right hand and the characters using their Left hand, "passive" (yin) illustrating what is incoming or expected? REPLY
I know this is a bit older video but do you still recommend the Whimsical? I'm not a brand new beginner but I am newish. The Whimsical tarot really appeals to me. I can't find the book...is it necessary in you Opinion? Thanks🙂
I WANT THE ROYAL FEZ MOROCCAN TAROT. ANY HELP FROM ANYONE WHO COULD HELP ME GET MY HANDS ON ONE I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. Thank you so much for your review. I am looking for my first deck and you provided great options.
Some of these look nice but none appeal to me at all once googling my favorite card from each deck. My favorite card is the death card , And i really dislike human anything on any death card ( meaning human skeleton , human skull , human body , etc) , and feel drawn to ones with animals on death cards and have more of a nature/earthy feel to them but Im not sure which ones are good for beginners. Wild unknown sadly is not for beginners it seems and Im not sure if wildwood is , so at this point i think i might have to order a custom deck off etsy if anyone would be willing to make one for me.
I am a beginner (well, it's been a year but I'm still a newb) and I have the wildwood deck. I think it's not bad to start. That's just me though. The death card, however, has a skull with a raven or crow on it. But the bird is the focal point that takes up most of the picture.
Sounds like you have a few options, my friend! 1) Keep looking - you never know what you might find. There are a lot of animal decks out there that might suit your needs. 2) Work with Death cards you don't like, try to figure out why you feel you can't work with Death cards depicting humans, see what these cards can teach you about tarot and about yourself. 3) Make you own deck! Good luck on your journey :)
I never said I can't work with death cards depicting humans. I'm not very fond of humanity so im just more drawn to decks with no humans or very little humans if any at all.The death card is associated with my zodiac so its a card in the deck i feel close to and i just rather not have humans ruining my card is all.

wow, love how you considered how people might want to be different kind of readers, very refreshing! Thanks
I agree! I think her whole view on what beginners should start with, is all very refreshing!

+MrsTeePotTV I've heard several people echo your feelings. The Shadowscapes didn't do a whole lot for me, unfortunately! x
Great Vid! I agree...Rider Waite is a great beginner deck. I still love that deck. Kitty Kahane is a great deck for a collector. I have it and love it. WoW...you have a great bunch of decks xx

I got excited when you showed the 'beginners tarot' ..I've got the bigger version and received it in a trade. I love using it.
My beginner deck was the Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr, the stories really embody the meanings of the cards.
+Ametrine Moon I just got this one, actually! Looks really interesting!
It is, it also has the elements as a border for the minor arcana too. Plus like the Mystic Faeries, they have a little story for each suit,
Thanks for including the Hallmark Tarot in your suggestions!

I started with the Robin Wood but didn't connect with it, so I decided to get tarot of the Old Path and it was true love :)
+jadegrrrl The Robin Wood doesn't quite appeal to me, either. The Old Path is very pretty, though. Loooove the Chariot! :) x

I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’m actually planning an update to this video, so stay tuned for that! 😊
You're Adorable ❤ thank you for your input & sharing your experience w/us

No, the dog ate the tarot deck. So I have the book but I had to replace the deck, so I have the one with the nice hard box now. :) xx
Ahh right! Well that's good. I love the little hard box for the deck :)

Hi, thank you for your work. Can you recommend literature focusing on the court cards?
I really want the mystic fairy cuz I'm cuz I'm curious about the stories.
Lovely long hair on this video and great tarot info for me a beginner thanks x

On the same page about the Centennial.
+RavenSong Gorgeous deck!

I don’t really read like that so I can’t really answer this one I’m afraid!
I know this is a bit older video but do you still recommend the Whimsical? I'm not a brand new beginner but I am newish. The Whimsical tarot really appeals to me. I can't find the book...is it necessary in you Opinion? Thanks🙂
Hi Katey! Would you share a few of your favorite tarot youtubers? I'm addicted to your channel and would love to know who you follow!
You can go to my channel page and on the right hand side (if you’re on a computer) will be a list of UA-camrs I love to watch. 😊👍🏻
Universal Tarot is very very beginner friendly!
What would you recommend in the way of a playing card size that is close to the RWS?
Katey how long that take you to learn tarot?
What do you think about tarot mucha for begginers?

can you tell me the names of the decks?
Names of all the decks are listed in the description.
