@@CoachK71 I started at the school I went to/played for. Still there currently, after HS I stayed involved with the program/would keep in touch with coaches etc and then when I turned 21 I got offered the JV job. In reality in my experience/opinion coaching is more just making connections so I talk to every coach before every game and try to establish a relationship. If you can’t build relationships with the kids you can’t coach them. That’s how I feel
Just came across thru video, I’m 22 also coaching at the Jv level trying to see what I need to move up. Any updates on your experience since commenting ?
No degree just a certification to teach in a school. I'am going to school to become a gym teacher so I can coach. Coaching is a side job (anyone can get it) and those who get it are those who are friends of head coaches. It seems to be more of a game of mentoring like any field experience a teacher would need to complete.
I played basketball for 11yrs but last year i broke my back and I can’t play anymore so im here to learn about coaching to teach some young bloods
Amazing Video! I am a college student now who aspires to become a college coach one day!
Keep working hard
Awesome stuff 👍
But can a person start coaching with a high school diploma or GED? Asking for a friend lol
I’m wondering the same thing
anything to add in 2024 coach?
Any advice for a 24 year old who is on year 3 of being a head JV coach trying to work his way up?
Yo that's dope I'm 25 and trying to get started training and coaching any tips on how you first started ?

Do you have to have a degree to be a coach in D1-2-3 ?
