      I don’t know the weight of my goods and I did not get any money reimbursement because I had the Army do my move. You have to use move.mil to fill the form out to see how much you will receive. I sorry I could not be more help to you but I have never done a DITY/PPM move. The form on move.mil should walk you through it; you also have the option to go to the transportation office at your current duty station to have them assist you.

    Great advice. My situation is a little different. My husband is getting stationed to Korea and my son and I are not going. This gives my husband only a year in Korea and when he gets back we will be getting stationed somewhere else. I no longer want to stay where I am. My son and I plan on living in another state next to family. However, the military will NOT pay for this move. I’m trying to see if there’s anyway you know if the military will pay? Other than that looks like we will do a DITY move without reimbursement.

    Do you have any information on leave en route. What’s the reason for not getting a DLA for the first PCS. So there is nothing you can do but pay from your own pocket for lodging while house hunting?

    • @LifeWithElisse
      @LifeWithElisse  4 роки тому

      Hey!!! Thank you for watching my video. I don't know why DLA is not available to first time PCS moves, but DLA is not what pays for your lodging. Per Diem and TLE is what pays for lodging while house hunting. and you do qualify for those benefits on all your PCS moves, including the first one. Currently, during COVID, I don't believe you get leave during your PCS move; you only get travel days to get to your next duty station. My most recent video goes over my experience PCSing during COVID if you would like more info.

    We are moving to Washington State from North Carolina. Who issues the government travel card? If you use it, does the military pay it off? It's going to be a 45 hour drive for us so I am super nervous because it's going to get really expensive

    • @LifeWithElisse
      @LifeWithElisse  3 роки тому +1

      Are you going to your, or your spouse, first duty station from AIT.
      If yes: you do not have to get a government travel card . You will pay for everything up front and be reimbursed with your entitlements.
      If no: the service member should get one from his/her unit. All service members are required to have one. When you use it for your move, the government will pay the you your entitlements after in-processing, and that is what you will use to pay off your Card. No need to be nervous, PCSing is very straightforward. You got this🥳

    Does anyone know if can we have the military move us if my husband is re-enlisting? He was out for about 3 months, and was an E-4 and will most likely go in as an E-4. We are in California and we might have to go to New York, Louisiana, or Texas, which would be a very expensive move. I know they can pay us on the back end (reimburse) but I'm not sure we can afford to even get out there. I'm so worried and stressed even though I don't know where we're going yet!

    It seems the military likes to relocate MEPS is allowing me to pick from a short list of duty stations as I am returning to the army I have since married and my wife and I have been looking to buy a house...will I have to PCS if I have a house payment using my BHA and if so would buying a house be wise?

    • @LifeWithElisse
      @LifeWithElisse  3 роки тому

      Thank you for watching! Yes, you will have to PCS and the military does not account for the fact if you have a house payment. They will move you based on needs of the Army. Even if your wife does not PCS with you and continues to lives in the house, you will get paid the BAH of where you are PCSd, not where your house is. This can be a scary thought with how much the military moves you, so you will have to decide what is right for your family. Some advice I could give you to aid you decision is to (1) get a house with a mortgaged that below your BAH if you are a single income family, (2) understand what it would take to find renters, or buyers(If you need to sell). Are you planning on using the VA Loan if you buy? If so, I have a video coming up that could help you with that process.

    • @LifeWithElisse
      @LifeWithElisse  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for watching. They will pick up from storage and your home. You have to just put both pick up location in your move.mil application. If you need items to to be place on storage at your new duty station, you can also put in both drop off location (ie. home & Storage) in you move.mil application. I could be wrong but think the limit is 2 pick up and 2 drop off locations per application.
