      Most people would be surprised at how many amazing teachers there are right now in the U.S. They are some of the most dedicated, loving, hard-working people I've ever known. But they don't work for a private institution. They happen to be public school educators, and they haven't had the good fortune to be discovered as Ron Clark. But they're out there, making between 25,000 to 45,000 a year, many working 12-13 hour days, continually chastised by legislators, politicians and for-profit educational institutions who claim to have the magic recipe to teaching, yet have never taught a day in their life. It really does "take a village" to raise our children... parents, community, federal and state funding and people who LISTEN to the teachers tell their stories.Oh, and one more thing... An article written by the Atlanta Journal tells how Ron Clark can be so successful... "That success shows the double-edged truth about this new school: It’s possible to help any child to succeed in school, but Ron Clark Academy spends twice as much per student than Georgia’s public schools to make that happen. What they do is great; he has a lot of resources that allow them to do wonderful things,” said Cory Buxton, associate professor of middle school education at the University of Georgia. “Not every school is blessed with all of that.” Oh, and by the way, the cost of tuition to attend the Ron Clark Academy is $18,000 per year. So much for a free and fair education.

    This man just said something that I am fighting against. A label was put on our son and the I realize the expectation has been lowered. My wife and I decided to fight this label. We enrolled our son in the online school and I began working with him at home. At the end of the first semester he got some A and passed every subject. For the first time ever he was no longer at the bottom of the class. Since then he has been soaring. I thank God I saw the Ron Clark feature on Nas Daily. This has inspired me to fight harder for our son and other children. Far too many of them are labeled and pushed aside.

      This is him. I just saw him at Common Ground in MD and he is the real deal. He had no materials or presentation, just talked to us for 90 minutes, and I was completely spellbound. No wonder the students love him! He could read the phone book to me and make it interesting!

    As an Elementary Teacher I want you to open Elementary schools as well!!! So you can apply all your powerful, life changing rules and ideas in the lower grades as well!!! Why wait til Middle School to begin changing the schools and teachers so that true passion for learning and achieving can begin? If you applied same concepts and teachers with passion for student success no matter what in lower grades like you are in middle, imagine the successes your seeing now bring astronomical!! And of course please hire me to come teach in your new Elementary School because you aren't just changing students grades you are changing their lives for better futures which is my main goal as an educator! God Bless You❤️

      Good question. The Ron Clark Academy fires up the classroom environment, but they stop teaching when their kids finish eighth grade, so I wanted to ask them a different question: why do they not build schools to keep that energetic atmosphere going for ninth grade? Your question about elementary grades is good, too.

    I'm 63, and I was never gifted. I LOVED my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and 4th grade teachers because what we learned was pretty easy in my opinion. Then came 5th grade. That was the first year that I went to different rooms for different subjects. My math teacher was Asian, and English was barely his 2nd language. He "taught" fractions, and I have no idea how I got through 5th or 6th grade with exception of my 6th grade english teacher. She had also been my 1st grade teacher and she was so nice. I did well in her class but I must have done average in other classes because I still graduated from high school. In 9th grade, back when it was still part of Jr. High, I was so tired of struggling with math. There were 2 levels offered. 1) General math, and 2) Algebra I. My confidence was so low that I signed up for general math. It was essentially 3rd or 4th grade math which caused panic attacks, but on day 2, the teacher, a man who was probably late 50's or early 60's asked me to stay after class. I was terrified, another problem for me was how scared I was of my own shadow. I grew up on a farm with no siblings or other kids to socialize with, and my husband knows to never leave me by myself because I will panic. I can't just strike up a conversation. He asked me "why did you take this class"? I hung my head, then tried to look him in the face and told him that I didn't think I could handle algebra. He then said to me "I would like for you to try algebra I, and if you can't do it, you can come back to general math. (He taught both). Beginning with my first day in his class, I found it to be easy to understand. I rarely got anything lower than an A- and never looked back at that general math class. I couldn't believe I understood it, and didn't understand why other subjects weren't so easy to understand. He was an incredible teacher. I adored him. I never took science in high school, but I did sign up for Algebra II. At the end of the 1st semester, I dropped it before I finally had an F on my report card. Totally different teacher, much different grades!

    the comments below are proof that you can't please everyone. This guys was national teacher of the year because he was able to teach "unteachable" kids and made them successful. So no, he is a proven educator and has data to prove it prior to his academy. Someone sees a high energy, passionate, and highly involved person and they're immediately labeled as fake and annoying. Perhaps you're the unteachable.

    This school started when my daughter was very young. I wanted both of my children to attend here but I lived South of the airport and worked at 5:00AM. I was trying to figure out how I could get someone to drive them to school so that they could’ve attended. I saw the movie with Matthew Perry and followed his career ever since. Ron Clark / his team are excellent!! The children that I know that attended here are extremely successful adults, today because of the RCA teaching style.

    Who is this guy to criticize the educational system or to make general statements about teachers? Sure, his students liked him, but still, he never stuck around NYC to make any impact. And his academy takes in only the most well behaved students from the Atlanta area, and they still kick out a good number who don't make the grade. Let's see how Mr Know-It-All does if he had to take in and keep every student the way public schools have to. Until then he has no business criticizing others.

    • @BiteThemBack75
      @BiteThemBack75 7 років тому +5

      Thank you! He also requires parents to volunteer for 40 hours per year. I bet that weeds out a lot of problem students.

    • @poohyuki
      @poohyuki 7 років тому +15

      RCA actually accepts students from all socioeconomic levels. They provide scholarships for students that can't afford the tuition. The school has has behavior problems like most classrooms around the US; however, they create an amazing environment of high expectations and they build incredibly strong relationships with their students, which brings behavior issues down.
      I highly encourage you to do some research on RCA. It really is an incredible school with a wonderful vision. They are there for the STUDENTS, not themselves. RCA truly is revolutionary.

    • @BiteThemBack75
      @BiteThemBack75 7 років тому +3

      Those high expectations are what weed out problem students. There is not way he puts up with what the public school has to put up with.

    • @poohyuki
      @poohyuki 7 років тому +9

      mclaughlin75 As he mentioned, he taught in Harlem and other public school districts that had extremely high poverty rates. Part of the reason he started RCA was because he had such phenomenal success teaching those students, and he wanted to show the rest of the world his techniques through his own school with educators with the same passion as him. Again, I highly recommend researching some about Ron Clark and RCA! It's worth a Google. :)

    • @BiteThemBack75
      @BiteThemBack75 7 років тому +1

      I did. I came across an article by students who were in his first graduating class. They even stated that a lot of the students they started with did not make it to graduation. RCA tells parents that however hard they think it's going to be, multiply it by ten.
