    I wish schools would add a gardening class involved so the children could do this hands on and learn❤

      Not many, but there are some schools that are starting this. Usually it happens because a parent (or several) agree to help with making the raised beds and getting seeds donated helps too!

      Huffman in Anchorage has a fairly significant garden program. Kind of interesting since their outside gardening season is so short.

      We are so lucky our small traditional Montessori school has their own garden and gardening camps during the summer. The kids make salads for lunch. It’s awesome and I wish more schools did this. Its an amazing learning opportunity.

    Reminds me so much of my little grandson. He was 2 the first time we planted outside. He'd bury and pat every seed and say night night baby. I miss those early years so much when he spent summers with me. Best memories ever

      I had so many of my labels fade not even 2 months into the grow season the last few years. My labels I picked up in Germany came with a pencil so I used it one day and said to myself, "Oh that's why it came with them". lol

    • @TheGardeningArtist
      @TheGardeningArtist 5 років тому

      Also i bet you could use sand paper to ruff up the blinds to make it a better writing surface too. I'd use a fine grit.

    • @sweetolyve
      @sweetolyve 5 років тому +2

      @@TheGardeningArtist that is definitely something worth doing. I actually went out and bought cheap mini blinds for making the labels. I like that I can make them tall to accommodate my handwriting and the info I want to refer back to later on.

    You are an energetic, passionate and loveable home gardener. I think I found my sister by another mother! Keep it up kiddo! We're right there with ya! My Peas are in, so are some Radishes. This morning I went to plant some Lettuce and dropped 3 packages on the floor. I went and put in a new vacuum cleaner bag & vacuumed them little dudes right up, removed the bag & marched out to the garden. I ripped a hole in the bag & proceeded to shake the bounty over the bed. That was the easiest lettuce planting ever. LOL

    Being able to have fresh vegetables right out of the garden will make your kids healthier adults. Many kids don't appreciate it until they get older and have to buy their veggies out of a store. It's just not the same! I remember one time, at the peak of our garden, Mom made seven veggies to go with dinner! Love that fresh-picked taste!

    Hi there! I’m a new subscriber but not new to gardening having had some form of vegetable garden here in Connecticut for 30 years. We’ve also got chickens and two dry goats. I am really inspired to get the most out of yard this year. I found you from a suggestion for your vertical gardening video and I’ve been binge watching all weekend. There’s a foot of snow on my garden currently but I’ve got seedlings under lights in the basement! We’re eagerly waiting to see the greenhouse as we’re collecting windows for a greenhouse of our own finally. As for food production, until I’ve got greens in the basement, boiling maple sap from the tree in the front yard will have to do.

    I love that you’re including your son, it’s so important to teach children responsibility and work ethic.

    I planted potatoes, peas, carrots and onions yesterday. It felt good to get in the garden.

    This reminded me that I need to pick up radish seeds to plant! I love how you maximize your space and do what works for you. Totally smiling at the screen like a big idiot lol.

    I just have to write after watching this video. Im living up in the snowy cold mid minnesota. I went to walmart today bought some root plants, some soil. Have the seeds. Cant wait to plant. Have to wait till April 1st. If we lived closer i would offer to come and help /or just maybe watch, because it looks like you got a great plan, and the weather to cooperate. Im getting to the point where cold and snow are getting old. Havent stopped thinking about jim and rhendas place. We have children and grandchildren in joplin. Who knows what God's plan is.
    Keep doing what you are doing you are blessing people, like us, out in the vast world.
    Take care and God Bless.
