I'll be damned, there IS hope for the future. Thank you for continuing the legacy of metal. I'm old now (58) but I was there for the greatest era of music. I hate that y'all will never get to experience what its like at a general admission concert. (Thats where the is NO, I repeat, NO reserved seating other than special areas. Picture this, you have 15-20,000 partying, amped up fans from 12 years old up waiting outside the doors of the venue. When the doors open, you walk up to the ticket taker, he takes your ticket(the cool ones would only tear off what they had to so it left enough of the stub to show Who, when and where. The "security check" was pull each pant leg up high enough to see the top of your shoe/boot. Then you pull your shirt up so they can see the waistline of your pants, you spin in a circle for them, you pull your shirt down and make a mad dash that a sprinter would envy, to get from the doors, across the open floor of the arena. No reserved seats means no chairs anywhere on the floor and get as close as you can to the fence in front of the stage. Back then, the fence was usually about 3-4 feet fron the stage. When the house lights went out, the place would light up with lighters. Not to look cool, but to fire up thousands of joints and getvthat party started! As the concert went on, you would strategically push, squeeze or wedge your way closer to the fence. If you had a hot GF, you would let her lead because all she has to do is ask and 99.9% of the dudes would move over for her and you just put your arm around her and walk right past while getting a dirty look from the dude she asked 😆👍 Hey, all is fair in love and front row. At an Ozzy concert, at one time my feet were 4-5 inches off the ground because the crowd was so tight. Nobody was trying to stab each other, nobody would want to beat you up because you bumped into them (unless you were a dick about it) and at some point, you WILL be handed a joint or a bottle. Hit it, take a shot and pass it on. This WAS the decade of decadence and it was all about having as much fun as you could, getting f'd up and enjoying a night of music so loud that your ears would ring for 3 days after the show. I know this is a mini novel but I wanted to pass on the knowledge and experience to let you know that even 40+ years from now, you will remember just how much fun it is to get together with a few thousand friends and bang your fucking heads, scream and mosh until the house lights come back up and everybody wobbles to the exits and then wanders the parking lot trying to remember where the car is 😂 Oh, we got dropped off at the front arena doors of the W.A.S.P, slayer and Raven show in a 1972 Cadillac Hearse, me and 5 friends came rolling out (along with a large cloud) and we actually got applause. I play bass and I know how much fun it was being a spectator. I just wish that before I pull the guitar cord of life, I could be on the stage looking out over a sea of people waiting to hear us abuse their ears for a couple hours. Keep up the good work, dont ever let anybody tell you that "metal is dead". Metal will never die as long as there are a few kids that think rap sucks, foo foo girl bands cause instant vomiting and the pretty boy bands are the antichrist incarnation.
