Superbad was a funny, goofy movie but the last scene of the movie was rather powerful and quite meaningful. The way Seth kept looking up the the steps at his best friend was truly heartbreaking because he realized the finality of their friendship. Although they would always be best friends, it would never be the way it was before going off to their respective colleges. These two friends had never really been apart and the movie very effectively conveyed the meaning of TRUE FRIENDSHIP.
Well said, exact reason why although that movie was goofy as fuck it still hit me hard. I was a senior in high school when it came out and went to see it in theaters with my closest friends so it felt like an exaggerated form of my life made into a movie
That's what makes it so great. It's such an accurate depiction of high school. That the toxic immaturity rampant throughout the movie is an accurate cover for men that are sensitive too and are having a hard time with going their separate ways. For men, it's historically not been okay to express their emotions and I think this movie accurately depicted two friends struggling to come to terms with their friendship but not really actively talking about it until they absolutely had to because, unfortunately, just not how men are taught to operate.
This hit me hard cause I was that friend that tried to keep everyone together and I hated the idea of leaving my friends or family, I graduated in 2017 and in 18 I got shipped to Washington to start a new life, new place new environment new everything and when I watch the ending to Superbad it makes me cry

Superbad made me realise I never had that kind of friendship :( This song makes me feel
I have to admit that I am no life long Curtis Mayfield fan and was also brought here by Superbad. But, there is no denying this is a wonderful song. And it's such an excellent song to end Superbad with. It's such an absurd and funny movie the whole time through, but in the end it's all about friendship and when this song starts it's such a bittersweet moment. Thank you Curtis Mayfield for making this lovely song!
I just saw "Superbad." I love that movie but as much as my dad loves Curtis Mayfield. God bless Curtis Mayfield and all his fans who still play his music. Curtis Mayfield lives!
Rewatched Superbad yesterday for i don't now anymore which time again. Today I have listened to the whole soundtrack of the movie, and this is the last song of it. Tears come to my eyes...
I remember with a little bit of melancholy my best friend of high school... We're friends yet but we live in different towns, in life there's a moment in which you understand childhood is over
I remember the last week of high school me and my friends and I said we were gonna hang out every day, but I never saw them again. Sadly, love is strange. Shout out to the class of "00"
true, i was familiar with Curtis Mayfield before Superbad also as i am a fan of soul, but the movie reminded me of how good the song was, so if people were introduced to it that way that's not a bad thing, appreciating good music is appreciating good music.
I'm a big curtis mayfield fan I can honestly say I never heard this song until I saw superbad it's an incredible song r.i.p brother from san anto tejas south east side 210%
Glad to know I'm not the only one. I grew up listening to this brother and have the complete boxed set, but I had never heard this song before Superbad. I have no idea how I missed this great song.
It makes you think about life ... you spend so much time with a friend but knows that some time in your life you have to separate, even if it's temporary, and that ultimate means that "cancels" all the laughter you gave watching with a very sad time
*+Eray Lolo*, I agree... at the end when Seth keeps looking up the stairs at his best friend my heart broke as well and it was obvious Seth realized the two of them were soon going their own ways in life by attending different colleges, and this really bothered Seth. Just prior to this scene when they were going to sleep and just honestly told each other they loved the other, that too was a heartbreaking moment. Things were about to change for these two best friends :>\
This song reminds me of how I would've done anything to save my marriage. But, the way life was set up for me.well, he didn't view our future the way I did. Women, partying and staying out all night sometimes days at a time was what he'd rather do. Such a beautiful song that brings me sad feelings.
This is one of those gray area comments that is awkward to leave a like on because it's such a sad story... no one wants to be like.. "heart break? 👍🏾"
It's ironic my best friend in high school literally begged me to watch Superbad with him. We were truly best friends hanging out every day after school and spending nights during the weekends. Ever since we graduated we've gone our separate ways and rarely even talk to each other let alone hang out. Love ya Christian...no homo :D
I'm a fan of the sweet sounds of Curtis Mayfield and the movie Superbad. My parents had his original records and played them all over the house when I was growing up, but Superbad simply reminded me of this beautiful song. I guess my point is, is it so bad to be a fan of the movie Superbad and like Curtis Mayfield? Stop the hate people! Enjoy the music.
This reminds me just like in Superbad but I was being released from Y.A. And my best from my home town as I was leaving and I told him I would see him in the outs but never saw him again. May he R.I.P.
@PotJericho I would truly like to thank you for putting this up. This has been the bane of my life. i have been trying for 2 years to find this damn song! And you have done it. and for that, i love you baby :)
damn i always like playing this song after a long vacation or crazy party. it just gets me back on track. and that movie superbad clearly showed it how.
Been with my bestfriend for only a year of 7th Grade and we're gonna be 8th Grade classmate too, sadly they gotta move house far far away south. We were wilding every single day of end class, hopping on our friend's house too.
@red210100 same thing. a while ago, my best friend who was closer to me than half my family, someone who i had been through everything with for my half my life, was moving to california. i went to the airport with him and everything, and watched him go. on the way home in the car, this song played on the radio and all i could think of was that scene in superbad. now i'm 21 years old, but i'm not ashamed to admit that i was tearing up a bit. love this movie man.

Yeah they got what they wanted but lost the only thing they had.
Yep, that's how i feel about it, a masterful scene in a great movie.
They're gay. And I believe the last scene was a moment in Seth realizing his feelings for Evan was stronger than he realized
@@cptfreeman8966 Naaah, nice try tho.

For such a funny movie, it's a little surprizing that Superbad had such an emotional ending. Man, that was a great movie.

This one goes out to all the friends you've lost (but not forgotten) after graduating high school
A not so subtle Superbad reference perhaps

As a black guy, I'm glad Seth Rogen use a lot of soul music in his movies, he brings it to a culture that may never hear it otherwise

This song at the end of Superbad catapulted a "really good" movie to legendary status. That scene on the escalator was heart-rending.

Superbad man... been at least 6 years i saw it again. This song always stuck.
I did too heard it in Superbad for the first time. Great movie, great song.
Damn! Curtis had some super soul in his voice/singing style. Phew!
Yup, I was also hooked when I saw the commercial on NBA TV. Couldn't tell if this was Al Green, Ron Isley, or Curtis Mayfield. Dope track.
