Humm.. that is a weakness of this system. But if the wall is drywall you could cut around it and install a whole new fitting. At least you won’t have corroded pipe in the wall to wrestle with.

Just do a copper stub out. What happens when you have to replace the stop in the future? Minerals in the water will eventually render any valve inoperable.

how about a Close up of the Escutcheon ? Odd thing, Bell goes out or In ?

So I can either have the white expansion ring exposed to uv light or I can have my valve coming out of a blunderbuss barrel? Neither seems ideal

I'm a newbie at this too but how to do you replace the valve (with the first option)? I think I would put "the funky" piece the opposite direction so I can replace the valve later if need be
