- Jay Slater update: A court spokesperson has confirmed the body found in the search for Jay Slater is that of the missing teen.
Fingerprints examined in a post-mortem confirmed it is Mr Slater's body, according to reports.

Probably had been on a come-down after being at the festival. He went back with a couple of guys to their place and probably had a few intimate hours with then. Then slightly disoriented he wanted to go back to where he'd been staying. Potentially quite dangerous in an unfamiliar environment because if he was still coming down from being high then he could easily have stumbled due to physical instability. Tragically he'd decided to leave the guys' place on his own and this happened a relatively short time afterwards. It's just a shame he hadn't been able to charge his phone at their place.

A tragic outcome, but I always think that in 99% out of a 100 cases, that if someone goes missing for more than 2-3 days especially in terrain like that, then it's no longer a missing persons case, but becomes looking for a body.
in an area they already searched and metres from where he made a phone call..

End of the day he’s either had a lot to drink or ecstasy or coke, he’s tried walking home most likely in the dark and he’s just slipped and fell while stumbling home alone, don’t understand how he could be found near where he was missing wasn’t the search 2 weeks and would you check places which he could have fell down? Tenerife is hot, it’s been weeks, weeks of baking in the sun, so yeah
I'm not sure if you've ever been close to a dead body. The decay process starts almost immediately, I have a relative who was found dead after 3 days and they have already started to decay significantly. We were fortunate to have found them in time otherwise it wasn't far from being a closed casket.
Google human body decomposition and you will see the stages of it. When a living thing dies outside it decomposes faster than it would if it was buried and/or in a casket
Depending on the conditions normally it takes about 10 days for a body to reach skeletal mass after decomposition
Everyone knew what was coming, one way or another.

Sorry for the loss, poor kid must have been thirsty and tired as a result misjudged a move in the wild. Ended up slipping and falling to his death 😢, I presume he wanted to get down from the mountain as he knew it was dangerous to be up there knowing you could fall. I guess he took a wrong move at a wrong time and ended up falling to his death. R.I.P. sorry for the loss to the parents worst nightmare to know your child is gone..

They called it off publicly but carried on the search privately. It seems dodgy to me that he was involved in a robbery then he goes missing found dead a month later
