Hello, to avoid and prevent infections of the feet of sheep, there is a trick that is effective: putting a tray with lime in the entrance to the sheepfold like this when he walks in it, it treats the feet. Good luck for the assembly of your barn cordially
Shearing is not as easy as it looks. The fact you guys make it look so easy (and leave the animals so clean without nicks and cuts) even though its evidently not what you do every day.... is incredible! Fantastic clip!
I enjoy your big projects, they are interesting and educational. But What I really enjoy is watching you as a couple working together, also I do not often see a guy commenting on how much he respects and appreciates his partner. You are very gentle. In a troubled world that is very comforting.
Its nice to see how far its come in all this time. The big projects are cool, but its really good to get a chance to see everything else that is going on. Its come a long way since you started camping in a tent and building your house.
I have watched your videos for many years now and deeply enjoy them! I appreciate it takes a lot of effort to film as you go but you have a real skill for documenting... I know i am just one of many folk who are inspired by you. I have to agree your last video was wonderful to watch! Thanks for sharing and educating 😊 🌱
I find e verything you do almost equally interesting so I'm happy any time a new video is posted. A quick request. We have not seen muc about the progress of your tree planting and wildlife pond progress recently. Could you post a short update on those for us?
I've been watching for years, you never cease to amaze me with your fountain of knowledge and your courage to try new things. Love your content keep up the good work.
It's heartwarming to see how you and Dot treat all your animals. I like the way you go about things. If you don't know how to do it, you take a course. Well done. Jane, Philadelphia
I visited Australia in the 70's aboard a US Navy ship. Several of us went to a shearing muster and I was so amazed at the speed and the process in general. They made it look easy to me, and so did you two. You folks work hard but smart, and you are living the dream!
I think you two did an admirable job for only having done it once before. In a few years you’ll both be old hands at it. Thanks for letting us tag along❤️🤗🐝
Watching you and Dot work together makes me so incredibly happy, and them just following her along was the cutest thing. Love that we’re getting to see a little more of her 🥰 looking forward to the next one mate. Cheers xx
I first watched your videos because of the Hydro. But I really enjoy the daily life stuff. I think you and Dot work really hard, and put time and max effort in to everything you do!
I admire you on the way you have developed. But I will say, "Behi d every successful man stands a woman" You my friend have a rock in Dot. Keep going you two. Being a semi-invalid, I luvit and your site brings me much happiness. I live in Tanzania, East Africa - so your site brings joy far and wide
Just like the nursery rhyme. Black sheep and 3 bags full of wool. It's always interesting to see the amount of effort behind the final 'harvest', from cleaning to trimming to spraying to doctoring. There's more to it than most realize. Farming of any sort is a lot of hard work. Well done. Next year your shearing will be better for having done it this year.
Once again I really take my hat off to you and Dot for your gung-ho attitude. I find it hard to believe what you have achieved. It’s always a pleasure to logon and see the next episode. All the best for the future.
Having been with you since you were slogging in the mud setting up the tire foundation, I'd say that its your view of things that brings me back. Your editing skills and story telling keeps getting better. I live in the city, and have seen large projects before, but what I don't see is the slower off grid life which is why I come here. So yeah, more of these please.
I once helped on a sheep farm during shearing time. I was only stuffing bags with sheared wool and I was knackered at the end of the day. The lads doing the shearing did hundreds of sheep. I’ve no idea how they were still standing at the end of the day. I’m impressed how calm and confident you are with your animals. Makes for much happier animals! Great video!
Brilliant video. Love to see the daily tasks (as well as the big builds) and a small insight into yours and the lively Dots life. Nice to see Dot in the video too. Well done both on shearing and doing an amazing job. More vids like this pls! ❤😊
It’s nice to see your daily life. Shearing reminded me of my childhood on a farm in South Africa. Keep up building your dreams wether big or small. God bless
Thanks Kris, Dot! Appreciate you both taking the time to show life on your farm! How are your trees you planted a couple years back doing From what I get a glimpse at your water wheels a beast! I’m really surprised that Bluetti has not sponsored you one of there battery packs! Then maybe you don’t want to deal with that! Thanks again Always a pleasure to see you and Dot!
‘Meanwhile back at Uncle Kris’s sheep shearing shed shearing sheep’. Try saying that after a bottle of beer tonight. You’ve well earned it. What a brill video, as you say, varied and very interesting. Certainly got some fine skills Kris/Dot. A pleasure to watch. Well done both. Stay well.
Used to run sheep myself, shearing the job I dreaded most, bad back, sweating fit to bust, wrestling with the drive line, stressing over cutting the ewes, wool prices, wormer costs, anti septic spray costs. Worry worry worry.I think you did well and It was good to see Dot participating seen too many women abdicate responsibility over the years and bugger off to hide in the kitchen or down the shops. I would recommend you get a good second hand worm dosing gun, much easier than pratting about with hypodermic syringes.
You are doing a great job. If you had more to do each year you would get a lot better but the sheep don't care if they look good or not. You got the wool off them - that's the main thing and you did it yourselves. I would say you are way better than average for a beginner. Thanks for these great honest videos
Kris very nice. I cannot believe the sheep are so calm during the process. God luck with the build and remember we do not care how long it takes, we care that you are having fun. We enjoy the honest look at life of your channel. Always move forward don't sweat the small stuff.
Hey Kris, just had an idea: when you have a scene that is complicated or 'dynamic' such as rounding up the sheep and you actually want to record footage -- just set your drone camera well up above the scene and have it hover there with the controls locked. Hope this helps! Love the videos and the progress you've made over 4 years of watching this channel.
They turned out quite well especially given the year gap from when you took the course! I think you'll be happy to have the skill of shearing if your flock grows over the years, and also now you can just do it when it needs doing instead of waiting on someone else.
Fantastic, well done with the sheering. maybe not the prettiest finish, but you got the job done and that’s what counts. Geese, awww they are so cute. Geese grow so fast. So do ducks, must be something about water foul.
Well done Kris and Dot - I take my hat off to you undertaking your own shearing and your consideration for the animals in your care. Thanks for the video.

Kris love it. Lots of folks around us and us included have been buying the butt wool to line raised garden beds. It breaks down and has the poo with it. Helps a lot in container gardens. Might be able to off load some of the wool that you just can't spin. Keep up the great work :)

The farmer and I would trim hooves and worm at the same time. I think you did a great job for your second time around. it will get better with time an experience.
Hi Kris and Dot, my family here in New Zealand are farmers and shearers. I also have worked many hours as a wool hand. It's hard challenging work and you two did excellent for beginners. Bravo to You 👍💙🌏💙
All your videos are great. You guys are an inspiration with your hard work and ingenuity. The daily life stuff is awesome, as well as the big projects. I started watching because I was interested in what you were doing with your off-grid electric system and your first building projects. I keep watching because I enjoy the way you approach life. Keep doing whatever feels right for you and I'm sure you'll keep getting people finding joy and education in watching your videos.
Kris, i have been a big fan of your channel for some years. I nearly didnt click on this one, as i much prefer to see your designing, building, fabrication, engine replacement and joinery skills the most. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this one too. Great video, as usual.
You both did a great job on the shearing of sheep. Like that you too were worried about nicking the sheep. But got a lot of wool from them for Dot to spin. Also noticed when you put the clippers to the back of their leg they stretched it out for you, you know they enjoyed that, it was mostly being held down is what they didn't like. Good job.
Super nice video. I enjoy the woodworking most of all but these farm duties are so important for the sheep to keep them healthy and germ free. You and Dot are really a great team and I have enjoyed your videos and I will continue to do so. Thank you
Really Goodd Job! Much respect, I worked on a farm when I was younger (around 35years ago) my roll was catching and rolling for a flock of around 150-200 it's back breaking work!
Another goodun for the faithful. Really enjoys these slice of life episodes in addition to the major project videos. If Jackery doesn't get in touch with you after seeing this episode, they are not doing their due diligence.
Fantastic video Kris and Dot, I could see you really were not looking forward to shearing the sheep, so to actually video it - you deserve a medal bless your hearts. I was wondering if Dot was going to use the fleeces and you answered my thoughts 😊 it would be an interesting video watching Dot go through the processes of how she uses the fleeces, I did also wonder if you would maybe process them as insulation for areas in the new barn. I noticed in your last 2 videos that you have had to trim the sheep and lambs hooves, I don't know if you feed them corn but feeding sheep grain does cause their hooves to become overgrown, it can be fed to them but literally only as a treat in very limited amounts. I love watching all your videos Kris, I marvel at your knowledge and how you are able to explain things in a way even I can understand, I do get a bit lost in the hydro stuff but I still watch the videos because they are so interesting and I love your passion for everything you do. I was hoping now the hotter weather is here if we could get more videos on the garden and the animals, so thank you to you and Dot for sharing your lives with us. Love to you both and of Tiger 😺 xxx
Hey Kris, from the good 'ol USA, I really like your videos. I have been watching for about four years now. Just want to say, thanks for the content. Keep doing what you are doing, don't question it, and just stay happy. The shop/barn will get completed. Just enjoy the journey. Heaps of love from the USA.
Kris and Dot, impressive as always! You're so modest but your methods always produce the desired results. You're depth of knowledge just grows and grows. I love your channel because it is everything the modern 'culture' isn't!!
Literally any video you make is interesting to watch and learn from - I've been watching for more years than I've even had this account for, and there's not a single video that I haven't learnt something that's useful to my own life in, so please just keep filming & sharing, in any format you feel like! Thanks for it all.
I don't think people really understand how difficult life on a small holding is, it may look idilic but there is a lot of hard work that's goes into running one. You and Dot are a very good team, fortunately I think you are both the same as in you'll have a go at anything. What you need is for someone that farms sheep to get you or Dot onto their farm at sheep shearing time, its ok learning but like you say you need the experience as well. Really like these little films, its really interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes, as they say.👍🤗
This is such an awesome YT channel. Well done Kris and Dot. You are an amazing team.
Thank you

I love all of your building projects but I must admit, I like watching you and Dot doing farm chores equally well
As usual Kris, your level of what constitutes competency far exceeds anything us mere mortals could achieve.
I've been watching for years, you never cease to amaze me with your fountain of knowledge and your courage to try new things. Love your content keep up the good work.
Irrational emotion. Crushed my heart during the sped-up portion to hear the baa become a kitten’s mew.

I like to see Dot in the videos. Not asking for more. It's just cool seeing the family working together.
Top quality video as always. Something for everyone on this channel, keep it up!
You two did really well - each time you do it you will improve... really nice to see Dot taking part and looking very professional.
"I dunno why but I just can't take to sheep shearing". Then absolutely nails that sheep. There's nothing this man can't do.
