is there a version planned for Mac Mini M4 Pro like 2/4/8 TB? is ther any information on the used NANDs as there are quite big quality and spec differences.
Yes, the modules for M4 Pro are still in the making, as the PCBs are slightly more complicated than the current M4 version. The NANDs are proprietary to Apple, so unfortunately there isn't too much information that can be released to the public domain. But also since they are proprietary to Apple, only a select handful of vendors on Apple's approved vendor list can manufacture one, and Apple only work with big players.
@@apremiumtypewriter Yoe understood me wrong regarding the NANDs, it was regardint informations what NANDs YOU use and if they are from trustworthy sources or from aliblabla or temu or comparable sources. Or if they meet at least the same or even higher quality standards than the NANDs used by Apple. Good to hear that also for the M4 Pro a product is,min the making. If the studio has also replaceable Storage is it also ülanned as project?
quoting a response from another comment: "Unlikely. There would be legal (antitrust) implications to doing so, but also they'd be shooting themselves in the foot by limiting the NAND chips that Apple themselves could use. It's not like jailbreaking an iPhone." Also, technically these units aren't SSDs, they are just NAND chips on a PCB, and we are using the exact same NANDs that Apple uses. So although it's not impossible, it's quite unlikely that it would be rendered unless in a future macOS software update
I am very interested in running an AI setup similar to yours. I opted to upgrade the RAM in my mac mini to 32GB so i could run image to video models in comfy UI. could you make a video that goes in depth into your AI setup and explains why you are doing it the way you are. thanks! (I am planning on using fast external storage because I am afraid of screwing up my mac trying to upgrade the internal storage.)

nope, the cost for the NAND chips is quite close to 2TB variant. We don't think it's worth the hassle to create a new SKU for 1TB, if it's about $10-20 less to make
1) Save a USB/Thunderbolt port 2) Eliminate s issues with lead failing or getting yanked out of socket 3) SSD likely runs cooler ? 4) May run faster, especially compared with USB-C ? 5) Tidier and more compact set up
For me, I don’t want cables poking out or anything that isn’t the Mac mini in terms of size, or ugliness. It defeats the whole purpose of the Mac mini for me. I bought another variant but for me it’s the only way.

Thank you for your update, very timely😋
Great explanation 👏
I wonder if Apple would make these 3rd party ssd's inoperable when their is some sort of update.

Nicely done.
Great video, thank you!
I just purchased one through your website, how long for delivery because it didn’t say

Would apple do a patch in an update to render third party parts unusable though. I wouldn't put it past them?

@@apremiumtypewriter okay , thinking of getting one of this
Will this work on a M2 Mac Studio?
No, it won't, unfortunately. Apple is one of those companies that has the resources to bespoke design different components for each and every product
why not just buy an extended ssd there's many out there and more to come like raycue, or orico or qwiizlab, or satechi

2) Eliminate s issues with lead failing or getting yanked out of socket

I need this type of hack for MacBook but i need a reliable and trustworthy company who can replace the nand chips

Absolutely evil company. Finally, allow at least SSD to be swapped out but make it as hard as possible.
Why cry? You can buy PCs!! You are not threatened by anyone, much less Apple. They can do whatever they want.
They aren’t SSDs, they’re nand chips
