Upscaled designer house.
Partials. I sent you photos of them. You had me worried when you said full bottles.
Didn't like Sayat Nova all that much, but Bonheur aged very nicely.
That decant of Bonheur is from the first batches from Demitry.
Can't say that about any PdM's I own.
Black Tourmaline can be a little abrasive in the opening.
It reminds me of something CdG would put out.
The price they ask for it is questionable.
I had strifeknot of basenotes make a decant from the partial.
That way, the bottle could be stored away.
There are a couple good ones from Olfactive Studios.

I'm in the camp of liking this scent. The coffee, civet and " Laotion oud" adds another dimension to the fragrance that builds upon Layton's DNA, more fitting to a more mature person. To me the oud reminds me alot of Diptyque's Oud Palao. I would never pay retail for this but when it's on offer for half the price I think it's worth it over the original Layton.
I would take it over the original Layton for sure.... however if you want to smell like the best smelling college kid in the bar nothing beats the original Layton 😆

Well, that's upgraded kid.
If Layton is a niche version of Versace Eros, and we know that Eros is good for high school kids, then Layton is a little bit more educated.

I have tried a decant of layton but refuse to pay those expensive prices for what the fragrance is. There are many great clones with that DNA. I've been on an Amouage kick lately I own interlude black iris but now I want a bottle of the real interlude and epic man I found to be amazing scent profile as well

I blind bought a vintage bottle of Vivienne Westwood's Boudoir EDP-- an Amber Floral creation of Martin Gras that was released in 1998. I received it this morning and it's so beautiful it made me tear up. Judging by the notes I thought I would like it but I wasn't expecting or prepared for the depth of it's beauty.
Top notes: Aldehydes, Marigold, Hiacynth, Orange Blossom and Bergamot
Middle notes are Carnation, Rose, Cardamom, Coriander, Narcissus, Orris Root and Jasmine
Base notes are Vanilla, Tobacco Leaf, Cinnamon, Sandalwood and Patchouli.

When you hear that marketing copy being read, it strikes you how absolutely stupid and ridiculous it sounds. The more ridiculous part, however, is that it works. "God I love Layton. Those natural essences are unmatched! The ancient quality in every bottle smells SO NICHE!!! *hits vape*"

I honestly think Layton was so bad I gave it away. I do like the Layton Exclusif, though.

Was my favourite from PdM for a long time tbh. Then Carlisle took the spot, then Oajan. Still in my top 3 from them but there's so much in this vid that I agree with Ramsey. There's a reason their fragrances are pretty easy to clone. I was a bit of a perfume material virgin back in the day what can I say. Still enjoy the scent on occasion though. Usually layered with something else. In fact, it's probably the last release from PdM that I actually appreciated. After 2017, it's all been downhill. I will go for the clones though because that's about what the formula is worth. Ps, I'm gonna have to borrow that "luxury blob" moniker. 😂 Brilliant.
Shit. I forgot Carlisle was actually nice too. They do strike me as more Winter friendly or 2 spray.
The "Luxury Blob" is the best description I have ever heard of these houses... nothing smells like any notes know to man kind... its the expensive blobs that makes people rung up their credit card for 415 bucks plus tax 😆

The vast majority of PdM reviews on UA-cam are compromised, but yours I trust. Having said that, I only own Herod. The others I've been "meh" on, and their marketing puts me off. The "1743" on the bottle should read "2009".

@@RamseytheRam Well yeah, Menthal. That's the first thing I picked up on. Just a hint of Vicks Vaporub. LOL
The only "decent" fragrances from Marly are this and the original, Herod and Kalan. The rest have no staying power or sillage. The Guacwoood note is nice but is is far too sweet. Total nuclear, beast mode performance though with Layton. I find I can really only wear it in the winter here(Minnesota) with a couple sprays. Maybe 1 spray in the summer, but even then, in my journey, it'd be too sweet. I'd much rather wear a vetiver fragrance. I'm thinking about selling my Layton. It's not bad. Just too sweet and juvenile for me unless it's bitter cold outside or I'm looking to make some dumb blondes panties wet. Haha.

Jubilation XXV is the one Amouge that I feel could have been a PDM fragrance. It actually smells like Shagya with blackberry added to me and I don’t really like it. Next time you spray Jubilation, pretend it came from PdM and maybe you’ll see what I mean. Has a similar structure to Layton and Carlisle but with different notes.
I cant imagine Jubilation XXV as a PDM fragrance.. but then again I have never smelled Shagya before 🤷♂️
I love my PDM Layton batch 1230379 (purchased about 5 years ago) but I’ve never got any positive feedback on it when I wear it.

It's interesting how they use their sister brand Initio for "experiments". Example is Oud for Greatness repackaged into PdM Haltane since it's a seller. But I don't know anyone who'd rock those synthetic heavy scents every day and/or finish the bottle. Waste of money.

The Laytons smell good on first whiff but get old really fast. They smell like a Mancera creation to me.
I would take Layton over a Mancera anyday... but thats just me 🤷♂️

Our local department store has just introduced the 'Initio' line.I had never tried anything from the brand, so I gave them a wee sniff. 'Oud for Greatness' actually made my stomach churn with its disgusting sweetness. I have never had such a physical reaction to a fragrance. Awful.
One of the worst fragrances I have smelled... I have a sample ... an oud for greatness video will be fun... but i need to expand my negative vocabulary 😆

I got a 2mL sample of taif Aoud and it is very quite pleasant but not way worth +$700

Not a big fan of this house. Their scents are too pedestrian for my liking. SoTD is a smattering of oud wood because I’m working on making space in my collection and it’s currently the emptiest bottle
Oud wood was the bottle I am closest to finishing too... linked by almost finsihing oud wood! 🫂

Only one from the house left in my collection is Kalan, and kalan is kind of niche to me with the twist deep in drydown where it gives me retro oakmoss.
It's modern,likeable but kind of complex.
