Mr. KoO, you might look into a "shaker siphon hose," It's available at all auto parts stores, Walmart, Home Depot etc. It's usually a 1/2" ID clear plastic hose 6 feet long with a foot valve on one end. You just set the fuel can up a little higher than the fuel tank fill cap and put the valve end into the fuel can and the other end into the fuel tank and shake the valve end of the hose and it will start a siphon . It'll save your back. I use one all the time. ben/ michigan

Xena, to most of us diesel mechanics, the smell of diesel fuel is a fine perfume! Joey, I'm not so sure that starting it on diesel is going to be reliable, especially when it's cold. Those gas start engines don't develop the higher compression of newer direct start diesels, as you know, that higher compression is what creates the heat to light the charge off. That was the whole reason they went to all the effort to build all that mechanism to start it on gas. It allows starting at low starter rpm and creates the heat to light it off at the rpm of the running start cycle. I know I've started mine a few times on the diesel cycle with either, but it's a lot warmer air temp here. Watching and learning!
we switch out the td-18 to direct diesel start because the gas side was too much of a pain. the D6 cats are all direct electric start and they start in the cold weather too for the last 25 years. thansk
He plugs heaters on them in to the house current to warm them up all the time, so he's had good success going direct. So, although not completely correct I will say they do not experience a "cold start." I've been watching him for a year and I've seen where he plugs something in at daybreak and doesn't try starting until late afternoon.
Morning from Gagetown, Yahoo, great to see signs of life for Gomez’s mother. Won’t be long now. It will sound amazing. Thanks for the great video, hope everyone has a great day 🇨🇦🇺🇸
You presently have your batteries hooked up in parallel, plus to plus and negative to negative, which gives you extra 12 volt power to start the engine. Series wiring, plus to negative connecting the two batteries, would give you 24 volts, which is how your roto-wrecker is probably wired. Military was always good at using 24 volts.
King Joey , I'd rather turn wrenches on that old iron . Have a newer Kubota engine setting on my shop floor. Going in a bobcat. Guy said it ran 6 years ago. Told him we need to have it running before installation. 😮😮
I like your personality, the women jokes, pretty much all you record. Reunions of any kind are a joke,no great loss on your part.Just keep on keepin on.👍👍
Yeah, been a while since I had a diesel bath. Dyed diesel, no less. Years before that, I got sprayed with stove oil, also dyed. Stove oil is lighter, drier, so the smell went away sooner. I have concluded that not getting it on me is worth the extra effort of checking that the last person didn't hang up the hose with the gun still engaged and locked. Now why the fuel would not stop for you, Xena, I don't know why. It is possible that the injectors (at the very final part of the video, there) were actually injecting into the cylinders. If the cylinders are not heating up (because of low compression, or the decompression lever is engaged), what little diesel is being sprayed in, is cooling off the compression chamber, which then makes it too cold for the oil to self-ignite. You're not going to like hearing this next part about pony motors, but the theory around starting a cold diesel involves each cylinder being able to compress air hard enough that that air gets very hot, so that at TDC when the injector fires, it gets half a chance for the mist of fuel oil to self-ignite. Recommended practice when using a pony motor to start, was to ensure that the diesel fuel was OFF. Start the pony, get it running reasonably smoothly, engage so that it would spin up the big motor, and let it spin over "dry", that is to say with no fuel being admitted, but while the motor is being spun over, it builds lube oil pressure and gets very well pre-lubed. After anywhere from 30 seconds of this to as much as 5 minutes (if it is really cold out), THEN turn on the diesel fuel and let the injectors begin to spray. Things in each cylinder will be nice and hot, and should fire right off. Moving ahead to the 80's (and beyond) modern EFI engines, they knew in advance that the engine would want to spin over at least one complete revolution before commanding the injectors to start firing, to allow a little heat to build in each combustion chamber. If you can, let your motor spin over a few revs before introducing fuel. That little bit of heat that builds before the cold fuel comes in, will make all the difference.
the whole object to day was to get fuel to the injectors and lube up the motor. today the radiator will go back on then fresh batteries will crank it over faster. a little sniff of ether to excite it and the motor should run. thansk
