I worked at LB port for a bit. I took down vin numbers on new cars arriving. Worked 4 hours got paid for eight. My friend works there now. He sits in the back of a flat bed and lays cone patterns for the trucks. It’s physical work to do that. He makes well over 200k for being a laborer. Again, working 8-10 hours and getting paid for 16 with ot. Crane operators make bank. My other friend works in an office and loads ships via computer (by container weight) to make sure the ship is balanced. He brings a six pack to work. It’s a tough area, the people are tough and most of the new jobs are passed down to family members (nepotism). Wish I stayed at the port. BTW, best benefit package I have ever seen…along the lines of what Congress gets. Probably worth over 100k alone.
