I think it's just because he's not a native English speaker, he said as much in an earlier video.
Charlotte has always been the feminine version of Charles to me.
I am now aware that I've mispronounced the word incorrectly in my head.

Ummm... saying he "chooses" to pronounce things in a way that you deem incorrect is very rude. There are many reasons that people pronounce things differently. One of the strongest reasons is not being a native speaker of a language. So perhaps instead of criticizing you could offer assistance instead.
