Well, it's quite an easy to remember number. Take the two triples of 9's, for instance (but they're not the only thing that makes it easy to remember).

I'm autistic and putting something to music is how i remember anything. I make up little jingles to when i meet someone whose name I need to remember, or my credit card number. So maybe don't sing your credit card number or any other personal information around me, I'll never forget it.
I made a song to remember my old phone number and haven't made one for my current one. To this day I still occasionally think of my old number when someone asks me for my number, but luckily I never made the mistake of actually giving the old one.

If inverted, the 011 becomes 110, which is one of the Norwegian emergency numbers. Particularly the one dedicated to the fire brigade.

As an IT Crowd fan, I'm ashamed to admit it took me way longer to memorize this. I kept getting tripped up around 881 99
It worked 1 day for me i think. For a long number its pretty funny how catchy easy it is to remember

It is hilarious how easy this actually is to remember, haven't thought about this in years and, after seeing another IT crowd vid remembered this and remembered the number right away without evening watching. The song makes it so easy.

The entire melodic arc of the jingle maps the journey of emotions experienced from before you call the ambulance until after it has arrived and give you medical attention. That is: the second 999 melody has shades of melancholy and sadness. The last 9119 is almost like a dawn - the sadness has subsided. and 725 3 is a cheeky chin up. Like its all gonna be ok.
You're really onto something with this. I like to think that the chaos of the situation subsides and clarity and rational thought are achieved right around the 881 mark.

I memorized it after two watches of the vid - setting it to music and repeating it three times made it amazingly easy to remember this otherwise unmemorizable series of digits. A catchy song is one of the mnemonic tricks that the amazing memory guys use.

did you know that in most EU countries you can dial either 999, 911 or 110 and they will all work? that's so international visotors can use the number they are used to in an emergency!

Torbjørn Kolven I know that the EU has its community number that connects you to anything you need: police, ambulance, fire fighters etc. It's 112 through all the EU.
+spineshivers In Germany it used to be 110 for the police (which changed I think), 112 for the firefighters and 113 for the ambulance. Maybe I should look it up some time. xD

I always had a propensity for remembering numbers. I am horrible with remembering names. But I used to work for a credit card company and I would actually recognize people who called in by their credit card numbers lol.
