Top tip: When you examine the abdomen, always auscultate first (after inspecting, that is), then percuss, then palpate. In that order.
This avoids disturbing the intestines and altering your findings.

We don't really get a gown in the UK too. I see people in the US wear a gown for everything, but we normally keep our clothes on as just take off as necessary.
Even a smear test they just give you a sheet of tissue for modesty 😅
The only time I was given one was getting an MRI (and that was private) but he told me I could keep my tights and jumper on under the gown anyway.
