- A powerful earthquake in the Philippines has damaged houses and infrastructure, and caused landslides in more than 200 towns across 15 provinces. At least four people have died and over 100 others are injured. The 7.1-magnitude quake struck in Luzon -- the Philippines' largest and most populated island. It was the strongest earthquake to hit the Philippines inland in nearly a decade. The authorities have warned of strong aftershocks. The Philippines sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire that is prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

It's part of the nature in 1990 Baguio Magnitude 7.8 30 years ago...The tectonic plates are always slowly moving, but they get stuck at their edges due to friction. When the stress on the edge overcomes the friction, there is an earthquake that releases energy in waves that travel through the earth's crust and cause the shaking that we feel.
Our Land keep expanding it means to say if they shaking our place...
We all know how earthquakes are triggered, but in the philippines case, it sits on the pacific ring of fire, which is the most volatile surface of the earth. Not all coutries are prone to earhquakes, unfortunately the philppines location, makes it very vulnerable to frequent earthquakes.

Philippines is prone to earthquakes its about time to inspect old buildings safety this strong earthquake will not be the last. Any unsafe buildings should either demolish if it failed the safety building policy or fix to a high standard. Frequent earthquakes will strike any time any day.

This a true story of mine, it's up to all of you if you believe or not. When I was in the Philippines my entire life there , I never experience such big disaster. Maybe there is landslide but not big as big as started on last 2013, I left in Philippines march 23 to 26, 2013 then the big disaster start and many lifes died, and followed many disaster, I go back in Philippines last 2017 where no disaster happen,I left again to work abroad and the disaster start again, and not only 1 but more disaster,until COVID - 19 strike...I was still in abroad and when I go back last 2020 December i stayed there for 6 months, and Philippines was become a bit fine..and when I go back again another strike of virus and disaster again...😥... And even my place was in a great disaster where a lot of people died because of the unexpected Landslide..and flood.. is this a sign I should stay in my country ,is this happen have connection to me?
Try staying for a lot longer or stay forever. If nothing bad happens, I'm pretty sure it's you. Not even kidding. You must know how many natural disasters happen to visit the country year in and year out.

I think the Philippine government can start mobilizing their rescue operation and doesn’t have to rely on the US help or any other foreign actions to begin with. President Marcos already started to deploy different agencies of the Philippine Government to help the people and the community.

Only 4. Philippines don't really get huge casualties in natural disasters because they're usually ready for it, but not as advanced as Japan's. 100 deaths is already considered huge there. If it happens in other countries, thousands might be dead

Confirm 40 minute strong earth quake whole Luzon need food medicine
Not whole luzon need food and medicine, i’d say those who were near the epicenter and those whose houses were tumbled due to earthquake do need help but not the whole island of luzon i live 250km away from the epicenter, everything is normal here in our place after the earthquake yesterday. Not much damage, no damages on infrastractures, but we did feel the strong quake. Pls. do not spread false information. And it’s not a 40minute quake, it was a 40seconds 7 magnitude quake in abra province, and from yesterday up to now there are about 400 recorded aftershocks with magnitude of 5(in abra).

How can it be man-made? Come on, it is natural and expected. There aren't any huge mining activities and fracking for oil in the areas where the tremors were felt. I lived there from the 70s to 90s and I have experienced more than 20 earthquakes, 2 major ones stronger than this. The Philippines is in the ring of fire,geologically speaking, and surrounded by 2 major fault lines under the pacific. Educate yourself. There's google.
