Gays and lesbians celebrated historic gains Wednesday in their fight against laws limiting same-sex marriages, saying Supreme Court rulings overturning the federal Defense of Marriage Act and rejecting the appeal of a California marriage ban represent a "joyous milestone."
But they acknowledged much work remains after the Supreme Court declined to make a sweeping statement on same-sex marriage rights by not ruling on the issues in California's Proposition 8 ban on same-sex marriages.
"Today's historic decisions put two giant cracks in the dark wall of discrimination that separates committed gay and lesbian couples from full equality," said Chad Griffin, president of the Human Rights Commission. He called the rulings "a joyous milestone."

Could not agree with you more. Minorities always had to fight for rights that were simply a given for others. If a minority succeeds in gaining rights (as they should!), or even partially, does that mean they get to stand above the others? No, it does not. It means they know what the minority that's not gained rights yet has gone through, and should be even MORE understanding than the majority that had rights and priviledges from day 1.

Don't get me wrong, if a psychopath happens to be gay I don't think he should reproduce either. Keyword being 'psychopath'. Give me a logical reason for why this is wrong. Not 'it's written somewhere therefor it is true' but give me one that makes sense and argument it.

Good point. This shows that gant555's little island scenario, lame as it is, would really only be valid in the case of infertile couples. Gays and lesbians could donate sperm, eggs, act as surrogates for each other. The island with the infertile couples straight or not, would in fact die out.
It's not like they choose or even want to be gay. You can't tell me you really believe homosexuals choose to be homosexuals. Anyone that does is just looking for an excuse to be an ignorant bigot. And so the reason I support gay marriage is because it is cruel to deny anyone the right to marry the person they love. It breaks my heart, and especially the people in California. Yeah! Go get married! 5 minutes later- nevermind we changed our minds you're not married anymore. Ellen was so sad.

Cause people have brains and hearts and compassion. They don't care that someone they've never met and never will meet and have nothing to do with ever in their entire life, will marry someone of the same gender. Simple reason why: It does't concern them. I wish everyone was happy. Warfree world. The whole world can be gay or straight or like stuffed animals for all I care. If that makes the world carefree and peaceful, I'm all for it. Why would I care who someone marries? It's NOT my concern.

If I were on an island with only the woman I was in a relationship with, then no, I'd not be able to reproduce. So be it. Like my previous comment, I'm not on the planet to reproduce. I'm here to live my life, be happy, and do good. My organs work fine. If I want a kid, there are more ways than one. My feelings about men wouldn't change. I don't hate them. If I were on an island with a group of only gay people, male and female, I'd have a relationship with a female. If I desperately wanted a child, I'm sure being in a situation like that, there are ways to 'make it happen' with one of the gay guys. Reproduction happens to be not my ultimate goal in life at this moment. If I were responsible for repopulating the planet in a Battlestar Galactica kind of way, sure, I'd find a way. Thankfully, we are not in that situation. If we were, there are ways.
