I am on love with your channel. Amazingly, chill vibes, great scenery, and wonderful music; it's all just so easy to love. Thanks for really cool content.
I am preparing for 2025 and it helped a lot !! God those rocks !! I did pandora few weeks back, but this looks way more rocky ! But anyways the more challenges the better ! Forward we go !
Hi Wes, great video again and another buckle to your collection, well done mate 👍. The little rocks underfoot on the trails looked a nightmare bud. Wes I’ve watched a lot of ultra films from different channels and what you bring is unique and special, it’s like we share your experience of your journey as it unfolds good or bad, thank you, I’ll be looking forward to your next. Stay safe. Al.
I've run the Bandera 50K twice when I lived in SA. Definitely the rockiest ultra i've ever done, but I always had a great time. Same outstanding volunteers every year and they are truly dedicated and a tight nit team.
I was disappointed in the weather for views, but the temps were nice for running. The area is so rocky! All over! The next day I drove around a littler before heading to the airport, and it seems rocks are Everywhere. It is a beautiful place, though, I'm thankful I was able to visit.
Thank you Allison! These events are difficult, and it feels good to encourage and be encouraged. We’re in it together! And the volunteers are angels. They must be thanked for making the event possible. ❤️
Just to let you know that I looked at the gear you used in your run and decided to try some Topo Phantom 2 running shoes and am very happy with them. I think it's a great idea that you list the gear you use. I wish more runners on UA-cam would do that since it lets the viewer know what brands are actually being used by athletes in the races.
Great video Wes! I'm part of the Big Ass Runner Podcast crew that was manning the Chapas Aid Station. Glad you had a good time and you captured the course really well. Also glad you enjoyed the Chapas Special and warm broth. -Jeff
Hey Wes,, thank you for another great inspirational video and congrats on a great job at Bandera! Keep up the great work and can’t wait for your next race and video.
Great editing and amazing time! I started at 7:24 but finished hours after you. I enjoyed this race. Beautiful scenery. My next one is the Keys 100 on May 21.
What have I become where running 60 miles is a just a training run?! 😳 The human body is capable of so much. I'm very lucky I get to explore what I'm capable of. Thanks for watching!
This was great! Saw my self I think 3 times with various wardrobe changes (shirtless guy at chapas at night). Looks like you dusted me by about 50 min as my body failed after chapas haha. You really captured the course and the day super well!
I remember you from the course Jordan! We talked briefly on the back straightaway. I asked how you were doing and you said something about you were "thinking this was a mistake" and I asked "Which part?" and you cracked me up when you replied "Signing up!" I'm glad you got to the finish, congratulations!
Could this week get any better? Well, it just did now that Wes Plate released another running video!!! Course looks epic! Keep on inspiring us Wes ;-) I've signed up to run the Twisted Fork 68k/42mile trail ultra in Park City, Utah in late June, and I'm hoping to also sign up for the Bear Chase 50 mile trail ultra in the Denver area.
I am going to do the Bandera 100 km in Jan (2023) I have a few marathons under my belt but I have not been trail running lately. What shoes would did you use? Do you have any favorite shoes you would use again? I saw the course. I am on the fence about trekking poles. What are your thoughts on those for this course?
I ran in Topo Athletic Ultraventure Pro shoes, they are my primary shoe and I'll likely use them again at Bandera 2023. In my opinion poles are not necessary for this race, the climbs aren't big or long enough to warrant their use.
All I could think when you were puking at Yayas Aid Station was the Rolling Stones' album "Get yer ya-yas out".... petition to call puking during Bandera "getting yer yayas out"??
The weather was disappointing, because I was sick of the WA blah and wanted to so see some sun. But you’re right, for running it worked out. It was a little wet in the morning but the temps were fantastic.
Hello Wes, how are you. I really enjoy watching your documentaries. Can you please tell me what kind of Go Pro model is best for trail runs. Thanks in advance !!!
Thank you for watching. I haven't thought about a backyard ultra yet, I'm not sure I'm ready for that mental challenge! But more, I have long long list of races I and routes I want to run that I just don't have time to give a backyard ultra-- unless it was a (long) training run. :)
@@wplate Eternal Damnation Backyard Ultra(Kansas USA), first year they have it and its the closest to my house so i figured why not. 300ft elevation gain per loop. Im not a long distance runner but this seems like much more of a community/fun running experience where everyone starts together every mile instead of just going a long ways by yourself. Plus I added a Backyard Ultra to my bucket list this year so might as well check it off. I appriciate your videos and keep them coming!
Hey! Great video I signed up for my first 100k in December Question What is your weekly mileage? I’m 42 Been trying to get about 50miles a week in I have sore knees and my feet really bug me on runs over 10 miles Does this seem normal to you?
Soreness as you build up mileage feels pretty normal, and 50 miles a week is a lot! My weekly mileage is all over the map. Some weeks are in the 20s, some in the 30s, long long weeks might be into the 60s or more.
I am on love with your channel. Amazingly, chill vibes, great scenery, and wonderful music; it's all just so easy to love. Thanks for really cool content.
Thank you! I’m really happy you like these videos. I love sharing them. 🙏🏼
Thanks so much for filming that run. It gives such a good sense of the terrain. Best prep online I have found.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck on your run.

There are so many rocks!
Some of the most GORGEOUS DESIRABLE RUN FEET LAND I've never seen that. Such a mmmm looking trail!
A fun course! I’ll be doing it again in 2023 as my Western qualifier.
@@wplate I'd love to be in the group there. O mannnn I wish so much. Hope to see ya post if so
Gosh, what a brutal looking course, it’s amazing anyone makes it out of there with their ankles intact. Way to go!
The course is indeed rocky! Thanks for watching.

It is a well-run event, the volunteers were awesome!
Thanks for sharing! It was my 5th time running Bandera this year, but I never get tired of that ruggedly beautiful trail.

Glad you like them! Thank you so much Victor.
Nice going, Wes, you pulled through. How insane that this was not even one fourth of the Cocodona distance!

I hope to come up there to run one day! Thank you for watching!

Nice job! I amdoing the Bandera 100 this year. What shoes would you recommend
If it gets wet some of the rocks can get slippery, so I'd suggest a shoe with a sole designed to be grippy in such a situation.
I have created a running vlog! Thanks to Wes Plate for the inspiration, now to get skilled in video editing will be another hurdle!
Congrats on starting your channel! 😍

My watch said about 7200. www.strava.com/activities/6494256426/overview
I want to try this with a ruck.....
That would be awesome!
I’ve run this course. It’s not fun. Might be if you like a lot of rocks.
I used it for its Western Qualifierness and will again in 2023. Doesn't have to be fun, just has to get done.
