Wouldn't it be tragic if one of the victims of your careless riding was your own small child, grandchild, or loved one? My first bike was a 175. Over the years I upgraded to 250, 600, 650, 1000, 1200 v twin and stupidly an unridable zzr1100. Now ride an 800 v twin which is nice and light and just right. So glad that I did my time on smaller underpowered bikes or probably wouldn’t be here to be able to keep enjoying the ride 40 years on. Stay safe people.

      The yanks all seem to start off on litre bikes. I did the proper run of bikes too like you, First a 125, then a 400, then a 500, then I bounced about between 250cc and 750cc and then get an unrideable z1000 LTD, which you could literally feel flexing in the bends lol. Now after almost 30 years riding and 28 bikes later, I've settled on a 2023 Ninja 650, which is the perfect size for UK lane riding imo

    23:50 Always feel bad for the rider who crashes. There's a lesson here for anyone with ABS: practice using it in a safe environment. ABS will help prevent a lowside, but as the suspension compresses, the bike tries to "stand up" and go straight, it takes a whole lot more pressure on the inside bar to keep it going around the corner. If you've practiced somewhere like a racetrack or even a large parking lot, you'll be prepared.

    • @aps-pictures9335
      @aps-pictures9335 9 місяців тому +4

      Also worth noting how this has nothing to do with ABS - it’s literally a byproduct of weight transfer and braking. Even non-ABS will stand up under braking (it’ll just lock up much earlier - which isn’t useful).

    • @charlesbynum
      @charlesbynum 9 місяців тому

      That is complete nonsense.

    • @stormtrooper9404
      @stormtrooper9404 5 місяців тому

      No way that ABS will anyhow prevent lowside!
      It works best when the tires are right up, and just helps blockade there and than!
      You put your bike lying in a curve, and forget about abs. Its too late for braking already…

    • @seanjacobs7021
      @seanjacobs7021 5 місяців тому

      This was fixation and hit object plain as day. You don't go into a corner leaned, lock the brake and then the bike stands perfectly straight and goes straight forward 20 yards into (coincidentally) the biggest thing you didn't want to hit.

    10:25, wet conditions, going too fast for the conditions, filtering between opposing streams of traffic on an unbroken line, this guy gave himself no chances at all and it ended predictably with him trying to grind his riding gear to a thinner consistency. He ended up hitting a vehicle that was turning right, the unbroken white line should have been his first clue to avoid just this scenario.
    Guys, be more patient at all times BUT especially in these type of conditions, your wet weather gear will shield you from most of the horrid conditions if you have to ride in them but do yourselves a favour and slow down, if you get home cold and wet (and I have done so many times) you can always have a hot shower or bath and beer, but at least you get home safe. Ride SAFE and stay Upright. Cheers.
