During the video we can see Yoyoka is a hard working woman. So glad to see at the very end she can still be a child. What an exciting journey. Thank you for sharing.
There is so much to comment on in this fantastic new installment of your American journey that I'll only pick a few highlights. First, I'm so glad we're getting to hear fuller versions of smaller snippets of your gigs and jam sessions that you've shown us in Instagram and Twitter posts. Second, I'm thrilled to see drum cams of your gigs, particularly the Ken Okada concerts. It's opened my eyes to just how nuanced your playing really is, whether it's something with very complex time changes, or a relatively straightforward beat. You put a lot of very subtle moves in there that really bring the rhythm alive, like someone whose spent literally decades honing their art. And that's another thing: Your playing has gone so far past mere technique and is truly art in its truest sense. You're still learning technique, but every new technical skill gets immediately absorbed into your art, not just your catalogue of tricks. And a word on the Winery Dogs: they are proof that real rock & roll still exists, as they play rock like they did back in the late 60s-70s. Love them!
The rehersal with Ken Okada: You virtually FLY and CRUISE over your instrument, like it is not really there. WOW. The skill reminds a little of Buddy Rich. The instrument only speaks, when it's got good things to say. The improvised drum solo at ~19:00: You sing, or talk a melody or a little story through the drums. Beautiful!
Shido-dono, you are getting better all the time and your sister is straight fire doing jazz with Ken Okada, bro! Much love to Clan Soma! I'm riding with you guys til the wheels fall off! 🎸🥁🤟
A nice Vlog with many concerts, including one played for pixels. Did not see car problems, so I guess it was a non issue like the mosh pit at the Ken Okada Group concert.
YOYOKA REALLY IS NUMBER ONE!
