What I’m confused about is when you keep the IV patent. At my facility we don’t use an IV pump to give blood. That being said after a reaction I stop the transfusion and disconnect from patient. Then “I keep IV line patent”. Do I hang a new bag of NS and let that run? If so how should I do that ? Pump? What rate? Or do I just flush the line and saline lock it? That has always confused me
Hours of reading explained in less than 30 minutes!! Thank you very much!

I'm 33 but at 25 I had at least 5 blood drips.
It's awful but I do know what it feels like to almost die of blood loss.
