Such a magical theme with its romantic sweeping theme- sophisticated like a martini- yet vulnerable like the two leads...ultimately I find the theme moving.
The divine love and time fade quickly. We only appreciate it when it is gone. We recapture a glimpse of “what was” when we can listen to the music that transports us back for a brief glimpse of “once upon a time.”
Not sure about the morality part since the apartment was being used as a love nest-not exactly too acceptable in 1960, but I have to agree with everything else. I love this movie
This musical theme is beautiful, andthose thin ties, were used in the early sixties I remember I wore one of those in my Senior Prom in 1963. Very good to hear 61 years later.
In the movie Fred MacMurray and Shirley MacLaine go for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and in that restaurant one of the Chinese male staff begins playing the theme on a piano exactly how heard on this video. And I thought, the guy can play a piano like that and he is working in a Chinese restaurant?
I've seen the move countless times. The theme is so beautiful!

Love the chemistry the two generate.
My favorite instrumental and typical of 1961 music. Jack Lemmon and Shirley McLain great in that sad movie
Just saw this movie on TCM as part of their annual "31 Days of Oscar". Still a great film and a beautiful theme after all these years.

Still staggering after all these years.
Academy worthy performances by Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine!
