- Raulane festival is celebrated every year in kinnaur. This festival is for Saunie ( Holy Spirit of kanda/ peaks ) . It is believed if the festival is celebrated with full zeal Saunies feels happy and blesses the villagers with prosperity and plenty in coming year . Raulane festival is a unique festival in which men dresses like a women . Men wear traditional dress of women Doru, cholli, pattu and heavenly decked with gold and silver ornament. Men who dress as a women known as Raulane. So the festival is named Raulane. Men who become Raula dress in traditional attire of men and their face is covered with gacchi . It is believed that their face should not been seen , not even a body part of them has to be open so their full body is covered. Raulane is celebrated in deity temple known as Santang. They dance there in full swing with traditional instruments. Dance , traditional ritual , prayers are done in this festival.

Jiya Lal g for enlightening us regarding this unique local "RAULANE FAIR", history of local deities, age-old beliefs of our people about the existence of ethereal "SAUNIES" (in local dialect) i e., the mountain fairies/or/ deified mountain spirits (aptly called holy spirits) and specific rituals to propitiate them for the much desired blessings; else it's believed that, if they get angry because of some impropriety on the part of people, they wreak havoc in the family/village. Nice to hear high spirited conversation from the grand old man and the first voter of our Kinnaur. Grand salute & tons of good wishes for health, mobility and longevity to him! Thanks also to Sh. Swaroop g for knowledgeable conversation. I am just curious to know why RAULA & RAULANE are decked up/dressed up in formal attires & ornaments like bride and groom instead of dressing them like RAGS in fancy torn clothes as per the meaning of their names!???

राउलेन त्योहार में यह दिखने को मिलता है।
स्त्री शासक समाज से पुरुष शासक समाज के रूपांतरण देखने को मिलता है। तंत्र ( स्त्री सत्ता गण प्रथाक व्यवस्था) के पढ़ाव का और विज् (वेद) ( द्वि वर्णीय पुरूष प्रधान समाज)के और समाज मुड़ने का अंश इसमें देखने को मिलता है। स्त्री सत्ता गण शासक स्त्री जब पुरुष को अपने अधिकार देने के लिए जो अभिषेक करती हैं तब उसे तंत्र की श्लोक से पूरा किया जाता है।
इस त्योहार में पुरुष खुद स्त्री बनकर आ जाता है तब स्त्री सत्ता गण शासक प्रथा का संचालन वो खुद के हाथों में ले लेता है और यहां से आगे पुरुष शासक वर्ग समूह का नेतृत्व पैदा होता है, वर्णश्रम की नीव रखी जाती है ।
