Found your channel recently and I've just been plowing through your vids, awesome stuff! Are you considering a video on Discord, why you have problems with it, and possible alternatives? A quick search didn't show a dedicated video on the topic, and it'd be fun to hear you unfettered on that soapbox!
I hadn't really considered it. I get the appeal. It's setup. you can use it for "free", and it can be a one stop shop if that's where all your communication channels are at. I find the login experience to be extremely sub-par every singel time. It's frustrating, and doesn't work properly about 90% of the time. I find the organization of the system overall to be a huge mess. Search is aweful for context, and it's overall very noisy...too many notifications about "who cares" kinds of things. I'm sure all of this could be solved with more time on the platform, but honestly, I really hate to see open source projects point me to a closed source chat platform. There are great open source platforms out there that you can run yourself or use their hosted option and support open source in the process. It's not about Discourd as a company at all, I just don't really find it to be a compelling product.

It's KDE desktop environment
It's Kubuntu 23.10, and yes Windows does look like Kubuntu, and several other Linux distros. For backups I use Duplicacy to my NAS, and Nextcloud for syncing.

There are a few options out there. Jitsi combined with RocketChat is likely the best today. Matrix with Jitsi, or running your own Coturn server. I have videos on all of these topics. For a direct 1:1discord, there's fosscord, but not sure it's ever shipped a separate option to discord. I'll have to go take a look. No video on it though.

I don't. I think you need something like docker swarm, or kubernetes these days. Not 100%on that. I'll dig into it and see if I can figure out what's noeeded and how to do it form the cli.

I dont think it will help at all..... Its pointless unless it freezes the PC for the "break time"
I pointed out that there is a setting so that it blocks the pc during your break time. anyone can enable this feature if they need it to motivate them to step away for a few minutes.
We do have a fullscreen block mode as @AwesomeOpenSource pointed out, though we need to add extra code to block off multi monitor setups. (it also can be dismissed on mac)
