Charlotte's "Uptown" is called "Uptown" because of the elevation of the center of the city. The intersection of Trade and Tryon Streets is the high point in the city center.
@@TylerLore yes....at 0:49 there's a brief picture of the disappointing Cincinnati skyline, definitely an error on the uploaders part. But the remaining video is 100% Charlotte's skyline
Great video as always! And at 1:16 I believe you said 1949, instead of 1849? Just pointing that out, but great one as usual! They're always interesting to watch.
Great job however being a born and raised Charlottean I'd like to correct a couple of minor mistakes. The Museum of the the New South is not pronounced la vine. It's named after 1 of Charlotte's wealthiest families. It's pronounced la veen. Also as a 61 year citizen black born and raised citizen. We say downtown Charlotte. The more elite may say uptown because they visit the upper floors of the building we they visit the city. But the common man we dwell at street level. Thus we say we're going downtown. Bill Cosby made a movie called uptown Saturday night. That kind of illustrates this point. Fancy high dollar establishments your going uptown. Common person casual establishments your going downtown. I'm common so I'm a downtown guy. I have been uptown on a few occasions though. And trust me you see the difference.
I really like Charlotte for many reasons. One reason is that (just like Atlanta) it is very easy to get to on a direct flight since their airport is a major hub for many airlines. Charlotte’s uptown (really downtown) looks very safe and inviting. Great video! You could have made this one 5 or 6 or 7 minutes long and nobody would have complained! May I suggest that you include the major universities found in each city. That would be a nice addition each time. Thanks! 😎⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks for another thoughtful comment! I think including universities would be interesting so I’ll definitely take that into consideration. I’ll be honest, life is just busy right now so keeping the videos short allows me to make one every couple weeks or so. I’d love to start making longer videos in the future though 😊
Loved the video! Subscribed because I love city informational videos like this, thanks for putting out this content. I did want to correct one thing though - the "Sing The Queen City" sign at 0:48 is actually in Cincinnati, OH not Charlotte, NC. They are both nicknamed "The Queen City".
The funny part is only half of it is charlotte. The border for North and South Carolina run straight down the middle. The Sorth Carolina half is in Fort Mill.
What are your top 10 Skylines? Mine are no particular order: Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Tampa, San Francisco and toss up between LA and San Diego.
@@Classy4514 what about South Carolina they got cities like a Columbia orange-burg manning Mertyle beach and Charleston and Greenville and laurens and Spartansburg
Uptown is actually a historical name for the city. Since the city was settled on a trading path in a very hilly region, the Paths would be laid out on the ridge lines to avoid flooding of the route. so the Main Street and the original intersection are at a higher altitude than the rest of the Center City, so the original residents referred to the central section as "Up'Town".
Charlotte is home to several sports teams such as NFL's Carolina Panthers, NBA's Charlotte Hornets (originally Charlotte Bobcats), MLS's Charlotte FC, AHL's Charlotte Checkers and Triple-A Charlotte Knights. From 1988-2002 there was a different Charlotte Hornets franchise, but moved to New Orleans in 2002 and in 2014 they rebranded themselves as the Pelicans.
I really love everything on Charlotte...But you forget said about the airport.....we have one international airport....wich is te easiest..maybe on usa....😂😂😂
Nice video! I went to Charlotte for vacation this past July and loved it. I am planning on another vacation down there. You should have also included Southpark Mall on your video.
Your video made my head spin Of course U forgot to mention Charlotte Hornets NBA team Right now I am loving this My brain is running like there's a nest of hornets up in there Over views like this are awesome Moments in History make future students have to learn more History.
Another banger of a video!

We call it downtown if you from the norfside
City center, yes, in the city, no
You'll never forget seeing the Disco Chicken outside of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
I don't know why read the 16th largest city if we got over 900000 thousand people. Well I am with you I love the skyscrapers in uptown
Yeah the skyscrapers in the city are amazing!
The "Queen City" is Cincinnati. The video you showed was even from Cincinnati.
Wrong. Charlotte was named after a queen.
@@AS-oc8lt I live in Cincinnati and the video clip here was literally the Cincinnati skyline. lol
@@TylerLore yes....at 0:49 there's a brief picture of the disappointing Cincinnati skyline, definitely an error on the uploaders part. But the remaining video is 100% Charlotte's skyline
@@AS-oc8lt bad experience in Cincy? Lol I didn't say the rest wasn't accurate. Just pointing out the error.
@@TylerLore lol nah, driven through it once and just was disappointed. Kinda like Richmond VA
Never knew Charlotte was bigger than Atlanta? I was surprised when you said it was the second largest city in Southeast after Jacksonville.
It sure is its also indy nascar they got aome famous people from there like Ric Flair and his daughter charlotte
Your mom is mesmerizing. 3:37
At 0:47 you showed Cincinnati instead of Charlotte although I understand since they both have the same nickname
Great catch! I figured it was Charlotte so thanks for pointing that out!
Charlotte has a beautiful skyline especially at night

Charlotte is better then Atlanta and chicago
Agree
😂
Apparently this guy don’t know what a planned city is. But I can tell u atlant definitely ain’t one.
There are too many yankees.
If that helps you sleep at night, so be it
Nice video. Charlotte is home to Carowinds Amusement Park one of the best theme parks for Roller Coasters in the country. Worth the trip there alone.
Thanks! And thanks for bringing up Carowinds! I probably should have included it.

and its still growing
Now I know how the Charlotte Hornets got their name.
Would you consider doing a video of YOUR top 10 skylines? I always like your take on them
Yeah I’ll totally make a video ranking my favorite skylines. Thanks for the suggestion!
What are your top 10 Skylines? Mine are no particular order:
Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Tampa, San Francisco and toss up between LA and San Diego.
They drive extremely fast in downtown. My parents had trouble keeping up.
I had no idea North Carolina has so many cool cities. I've only ever been to Fayetteville... Congrats on the channel growth!
Yeah it’s got some great cities! Thank you! It’s been fun to see it get a little more traction
Lol Fayetteville 😆 No wonder you're just figuring out how good all the other cities are. Congrats on making it out of the ville alive.
They don't NC Carolina doesn't have cities it has big Country TOWNS slow 😒 Country and boring 😴 now that's the truth.

Yeah I kind of want to move there!
Amazing job! I have seen you channel double, and I hope to see it again! Good luck!

I like visiting Charlotte. The last time I was there (September 2019), we looked for that head but it seemed to be gone.
Charlotte has got lot of museums I must say !
The Home Of K-Ci & Jo Jo Of Jodeci. 💯
welp now i wanna go to Charlotte NC lol
1848 Not 1948
Princess/Queen Charlotte was quite beautiful.
Please do video of Greensboro.
I'll add it to the list!
you should do pittsburgh 👍
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll actually be visiting Pittsburgh next week and will then make a video within the next couple of months 😊
The Mint Museum is not in the building that used to house the mint. It is in a fairly new purpose-built museum building.
That Queen City capture in the first minute is actually in Cincinnati. Cincinnati nickname is Queen City as well
why does Charlotte have such an irregular street pattern, seems a little confusing and driving could be irritating
Awesome video but there is no way California had a gold rush in 1948, Cornwallis wasn’t pushed out of Charlotte either lol but awesome video!
Whoops, I missed that! thanks for pointing that out!
You make awesome videos! Keep going friend!
Nice video when you gone do Houston
