Trump will just make up something else to go after his real target (bring down his $90B trade deficit with Canada). He is only using the cover of border and drugs because these deal with national security issues that he can act unilaterally to impose tariffs. Outside this, he must seek Congress' approval on tarrifs which may be difficult with the slim GOP majority and the several RINOs in congress.

Its obvious . Independence is the strife of politions. Is there a market yes or no? Is what they are talking about cutting out the middle man . Id say so. Cut there power only harms the canadian. Or we will painfully learn the lesson of do for your self
I ran a simple analysis on how costs to the US consumer could raise with a 25% tariff on everything. The most obvious part is the tariff itself as an input into the supply chain. The importer is going to raise his selling price to cover the tariff to some extent. What is forgotten in this whole mess is the sales taxes that end up being imposed on the inflated prices that the consumer will ultimately pay. The US taxes the sale of goods at each point in the supply chain. There is no Federal sales tax in the US like our GST/HST in Canada. Some states have sales taxes and some don't. In addition to the state tax, cities/counties can also impose a sales tax. The Importer pays the tariff, the wholesaler pays sales tax when buying from the importer, the retailer pays sales tax when buying from the wholesaler and the final consumer pays sales tax when buying from the retailer. I did a very simple calculation and came to an increase in sales taxes paid by 16.7% on the goods with the 25% tariff. This is often missed in the discussion of what it is going to cost the consumer. Our sales tax system in Canada is quite different. Tax paid as GST/HST through the supply chain is credited back to the companies paying the tax. It is the final purchaser that pays the sales tax. It's much more complex a system to administer but more equitable. Ford should take his nose out of this mess. He has no business dealing with a Federal matter. I'm pissed off at Trudeau too but this is has to be Federal with Provincial input and should be handled as a nation, not a province. While I'm really pissed at Trump and the Magwhacks and I really really would love to turn off the taps, it would feel good but ultimately tip us into a recession and we can't afford that. We need to stand firm as a country and not be stupid.

you'd have to get rid of your emperor for any of that to happen.
Lol, you already do. What do you think Trudeau is?
well said
Can Ford keep his trap shut for five minutes? These premiers need to get on the same page a present a unified front.
Unified like Liberal unified? well that isn't going to work.
We will never be unified in this country Liberals have gone too far. I have absolutely zero respect for an liberals now.
Ford takes his orders from Trudeau. Period.
Tell Trudeau to step aside and let a woman run the country or is he not for women?
@Rob i9k
you are 100% correct!!
and ford would fit right in the coalition ...... on either side of the house!!
To be fair, Ontario has a lot more at steak than most other provinces.
Doug Ford is willing to make a deal to replace a deal that was already made?
Trump and Ford are a lot alike. 😢
He ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed
20 lbs of F came from the Canadian U.S. boarder last year , 20 000 lbs of F came from your other boarder ….. wake up yanks
1200 terrorists have been stopped at our borders trying to enter the US!
Its not about the Fent. Its about looking like the big man.
@IMayOrMayNotBeNoelG how many people on the T,s watch lists try and come into the US?
can you please learn to spell the word "border" before making claims?
And more than half the immigrants on the dangerous list came through the Canadian border. Wake up Canuck!
So how much do you like trump now doug
I'm not much for politicians. One thing Doug Ford said with which I agree. We (as a country) need to secure our borders, both provincially and federally. I'm thinking that's true to do before the Maga yahoos decide they're going to ride over here with guns blazing and try to take over Canada to make it a state, as their big daddy D suggested. Protect ourselves.
Do you seriously believe American "yahoos" are going to go in with guns to "take" Canada?
You don't have to worry about Americans coming up here, there's plenty of mouth-breathing Canadians and Lil' PP fans who'd love to hand everything over to Daddy Trump living here already.
Trump respects money and power. Full stop
Yup and im one of em. Trump 2025 baby 🎉🎉🎉@lucasottens8506
What makes you think we want any part of Canada as a state. In fact, we wish you'd take NY, Washington and a few others. (Along with "Hollywood".)
The LBCO is one of the largest purchasers of alcohol in the world because they have a monopoly in the province , where most other areas have many smaller independent purchasers. What is banning Jack Daniels in Ontario going to do? reduce their global sales by 1-2%, and piss off every Canadian who wants to buy it.
Lotta traitors in these comments that hate Canada
Yes . I think they are paid bot farms
Well secure the open border. What it’s all about
Fix our border priblem solved.
US need to fix the border between US and Canada...why should be pay for it out of our taxes?
@redcanoe14 Cause Trudeau allowed them all in that's why.
@@Dbodell8000 Well you need to examine the difference in immigration laws of the US as compared with Canada...here in Canada there is the Temporary Foreign Worker Program that Canadian Businesses can take advantage of ONLY if it can be proved that they cannot recruit Canadians AN D that the applicant has both the qualifications and experiences required for that job (same as Canadians). Then IF they are successfsul in their application which can take up to a year to process, they are bound to that employer for at least 2 years sometimes 3 years. If the employer does not support the application for their Permanent Residence then they can. be ordered to return to their country of origin. Again, TFW's can only be invited into Canada IF positions cannot be filled from within Canada.
@@Dbodell8000 We've had an open boarder with the US for literal decades and this wasn't even a notable issue for Trump last time he is in office. He doesn't give a damn about the Canadian boarder.
Make Trudeau a drama teacher again 😅
Amen
you really do need to make a deal with Trump. The US can hurt us a LOT more than we can hurt the USA. Maybe we should pay what we owe for NATO, instead of shorting them all the time.
Trudeau ain't gonna do that though. At this point I'm convinced he knows everyone hates him and is just throwing a tantrum before getting voted out.
Doug Ford has Canadian Tire Walmart Tiger Cat all Chinese manufacturing not Canadian for the most part
"We NEED to make a deal." POTUS will be very happy to hear THAT! It'll be way easier for him to WALK AWAY from a deal!
75% off florida condos? 🤣🤣
Seat down together, please do not responded, like children on play ground! Please use clear vision not emotions!!!
Trump has often said he likes Canadians . It doesn’t surprise me he’d want to talk that’s the objective of his 25% tariff threat. If he didn’t say that would premiers be reacting in such a fashion.
It wouldn’t surprise me in the long run, if Trump would be interested in making deals with the provinces, instead of the feds. The easiest way is for us, is let’s get our act together and deal with our borders and drugs.
All you have to do is to control the Cdn/USA border like what was asked in 2018. It would benefit both countries
He never even made any movements in that Direction to Canada, his focus was entirely on Mexico. Also this may shock you but the US has control over its own boarders. Anything Trump wants to do he can do from the US side.
A lot of panic
Trump will punish doug for his disobedience
He said LCBO is one of the biggest alcohol purchasers in the entire world, wow. Does Ontario have a drinking problem?
It is the largest single purchaser. Because everything goes through the lcbo for all 16M residents. The lcbo also has the most comprehensive laboratories in the world for testing.

The problem is not Mexico, the problem is the lack of our leaders negotiations skills .
Secure the borders, done deal.
Good idea. Tell me how you are going to do it.
There is no problem at the boarder , look at your own American numbers , do your own research . Stop listening to trumps lies it’s all bull and every Canadian knows this because we know enough not to trust anything ANY government says and we check . Wake up yanks
It's not Canada's responsibility to keep people from entering the US....
@blackhat5434. Premier Smith has already done it. No muss, no fuss. All business. I like her style. They should take her example and run with it.
@@Rocksteady-l8h But it is our responsibility not to let known terrorists into Canada in the first place. Way more known terrorists try to enter the US from Canada than from Mexico, which seems odd but it is true.
Just duke it out in court. Its the American way.
You can't make a deal with this narcissist. He doesn't keep his word. We already renegotiated NAFTA with his own government!
The deal is Canada stop freeloading off the USA. Look after your side of the border. No deal necessary.
US needs to keep its nose out of Canada, we had the 1812 war to ensure they stayed over the line.
Why? the deal is already done - secure the border. Did he miss the memo?
Your hopelessly naive if you think this is about the Canadian boarder. lol
As so many have stated, DF should be familiar with his role in the Canadian government meaning he is one voice for only one province. People need to put their egos aside and stand as a unified group called Canada and not go on personal chest pounding and attention seeking gambits. People like DF are showing their utter ignorance about how to deal with a tyrant and threat to democracy.
Trump is not a tyrant. He cares about his people while ignorant prime minister doesn't care about us.
Now he wants to make a deal
Who would deal with this coward
He’s only the premier of Ontario because has bigger clowns than him running
That’s how pathetic it is here in Ontario
Trump loves this guy because he would sell his grandmothers silver to keep sweet with Trump and his MAGA pals.
Doug is known for backing HIS good friends Christia and Justin so as to secure his political career. And during the last federal election did he come out to support the Federal Conservative Party, no he didn't. He played the tough guy thinking it would get him favors from Justin. The correct thing is securing the borders, limit immigration, get jobs for Canadians. Maximum jail time for drug dealers, make sure not one illegal gun comes across the border. Treatment for addicts, food for hungry children. My wish that person would step down and allow a real Conservative to lead that party.
The last two conservative governments left an economic disaster in their wake. A mess The Liberals and NDP cleaned up. Do some homework and stop drinking the conservative coolaid
Speak to Canadian employers and tell them they cannot have migrant workers....they get no response to their job postings from Canadians...maybe they should go bust and close their doors?
PPC baby !!!
How does Chinese parts coming from Mexico take Canadian, and American jobs?
Logistics. Like truck delivery etc.
China has tariffs. Mexico does not. Slapping made in Mexico on Chinese goods allows the Chinese to avoid tariffs and therefore take away jobs
Must be a liberal to not even understand the statement tou just made ,Chinese parts ,,, going into Mexico, then into usa and Canada,
NOT MADE IN CANADA OR USA=Tariff duh.
@@perryfefchuk637 I am not a liberal, and his statement makes no sense, so that is why I asked my question.
The tariff is created by a political leader to increase the value of goods that are imported within a country from what I learned resulting in possible loss of jobs from the people who are exporting goods, so if Canadians, and Mexicans are exporting goods to USA, and USA imposes a tariff on both countries then Canadians, and Mexicans who are at risk of losing their jobs.
@@perryfefchuk637bro he’s right it doesn’t make any sense . Unless he didn’t finish his thought process.
Just start doubling the price of electricity, then double that…..
Canada will lose bad. Trudy is toast.
@@dashforcash6555 as an American we get 95% of our gas (yes we have our own but its refined there) from Canada so think again!
Picking a fight with someone ten times bigger than you will just get you a beating. Trump is justifiably angry about some things, like terrorists sneaking into the US from Canada, and all Trudeau & Co. have to do to avoid these BIG problems with their biggest economic partner and best friend is sort our their immigration policy and make sure it is put into action. We have the poorest national government in Canada I have EVER seen and I'm 66.
@dashforcash6555 they are supposed to be friends not enemies like trump is doing!
@Todd It's not Canada's responsibility to keep people from entering into the US ...
Since when is securing the border a bad thing? And why isn’t it already happening without needing a deal?
Mind-boggling… you’d think he was a liberal 😒
Both families need to get JT the heck out of here. Canada and the US can and will get back on track with new leadership
Which families?
Canada and America. It’s how Ford addressed the relationship in the video.
Canada doesn't have any politician that would make a good leader. We the people need to clean out the big house.
Pathetic how the Premiers can't even get on the same page; not especially helpful from a negotiation point of view.
It's hard for me to understand why chinadian provinces won't even trade with each other. What are you thinking?
Ford is a sub politician Ontario could do better but they just keep putting their heads in the sand with these Ford Brothers.
our only choice is the Liberals who have made a mess that will take decades to fix, so you need to take your head out of the sand.
robs been dead for some time.
Here's the deal you cut off the gas we close down the border nothing comes into the US. SO ya best for you to make a deal
Ford needs to recognize the bully for who he is. Canada needs to present a united front not look for political opportunities. Read the room
Ford needs to be smarter.
Ford is smart. He's Trump taking advantage of Canada and is fighting back.
Its obvious . Independence is the strife of politions. Is there a market yes or no? Is what they are talking about cutting out the middle man . Id say so. Cut there power only harms the canadian. Or we will painfully learn the lesson of do for your self
Doug Ford is definitely not like Rob, it’s time to go buddy
Rob was a loser too.
We have power companies in the US that also sell Canada power. Your hydro power doesn't generate during dry periods. The US supplied Canada with alot of power during the drought a few years ago.

The Trudeau tariff being felt everywhere
Canada has been mooching off of the US for way too long. Like a drug addicted, gambler brother who crashes on the living room couch, refuses to leave and then emotionally black mail you when you threaten to evict him. They don’t have a military, do not control the global trade routes or global aviation yet want to pick a fight with the US. They are hallucinating.

There is leverage in reality
@coldstream11 no leverage at all. Canada's market is 80% US and US market is 80% US. if US stops ordering goods from Canada because of the tariff which makes canadian products more expensive they are doomed... at the same time trump will incentivise investors so the market that Canada lost is up for grabs for US production.
