I think it's people's freedom to marry anyone regardless of ethnicity but I 100% understand and support chechen people for wanting to only marry other chechens. It's better that way in terms of keeping the culture and language strong.

I don't think you should mix. I'm Russian and married American. Although I love my family, I regret my children growing up with American values and not Russian values. And now I have my first grandson and I am sad he will grow up even more American. The American values are not good for a family or children. I thought I wanted those things when I was younger. If I could do it again I would have the same husband but I would have had him stay in Russia with me where my kids would have been raised with my traditions.

I am surprised at many of the comments. Not that Chechen men say they respect their parents wishes, or that they have religious convictions, or that they want to preserve their culture by marrying women of their own culture and religion. The comments made by men , not from Chechnya, that they want the beauty of a Chechen woman, or that they want a Brazilian OR a Japanese woman. Can they get a Chechen woman if they are a Muslim but from another country. On and on. Are they buying a cow? Picking a woman because she looks this way. A wife and husband need common goals, beliefs, values. Their common culture is important. If not, your whole life is struggle and compromising what is the core of who you are.

I am product of mixing of cultures, georgian USSR, and American Swede. I cannot stand the confusion I face in which traditions do not align and in many ways collide with one another. It is the best to stay within your own culture of beliefs or as one chechen brother said along the lines that the kids will be confused. I must now search for wife other than American because I cannot stand this culture here because there is none. If the American wife is of mixed heritage I am more inclined but this is absolutely horrible for someone who wants to feel a part of a community. God Bless the Chechens and Kavkaz.
Accept Islam, marry a Muslim and live your life according to laws of Islam and raise your children with Islamic laws. Then marry any woman who adheres to the same principles you will be fine.
I am also mixed. I see it as a blessing. I am not a slave to any specific culture and do what I think is right and just.

The problem is kids growing in a divided environment of beliefs and getting confused, I am years product of this mixing of cultures one side is georgian USSR, the other is Swedish American. They don’t have much choice since the Chechen nation is male dominated and they absolutely don’t want their fellow Chechen women to marry other ethnicities so in order to keep them from rebelling or running away with others it’s also their duty to marry Chechen women only. it is very easy and common for men to mix but not women but because it is common to mix for men now women are starting to mix too. Interesting. Are there other nationalities which would be more acceptable for Chechen men to marry - Ingush (are they seen as different nation by Chechens, or as a version of Chechen); Georgian, Abkhas, Azeri etc etc?

The Ingush are a separate, but very close to the Chechens people. They are similar in absolutely everything. Their traditions and worldview are no different (almost) and their languages are so similar that a Chechen and an Ingush could They can speak their native languages, but they will still understand each other.
The western perspective is …well everyone knows what it is. But I have to say that this attitude of marrying within your own culture and religion is the more mature of a decision.
I’m also assuming divorce is frowned upon a lot there, too; so you would be forced to make a more pragmatic decision.
And there are definitely some big difference between the cultures also, as someone said, in upbringing and ‘mindset.’
It’s really novel to see men who seem like western men at a glance, actually have a different set of values than what we hear, in the west.
Dating customs would be interesting to learn about, too.

Edit: Ok, I looked up chechnya and divorce on a whim, and just want to say, I never knew about that before, so 1) I was not propagandized on it, and 2) I don’t discuss the political on this channel.
My point was, in the West, people don’t take the institution of marriage as seriously, because divorce is not frowned on, so its common, and people already have it in the back of their mind that its an escape clause, when they marry.
From personal anecdote, my (muslim) dad, upon hearing of a pending divorce in the family, reacted like someone blew up the house next door. It was one of the few times I saw him go from calm to angry, in like a second.

Why even bother asking us about our option, if you don’t want comments like „marry a chechen woman“?!
I understand why you have that rule, that a marriage between a chechen girl and non chechen man is not allowed.
But there are so points that don’t make sense to me:
Why is a chechen man allowed to marry a non Chechen? Why is it not the same as for the girls?
The most Chechen men I know, have non chechen girlfriends and even if they marry them, their children don’t even know a word in Chechen language, more the language of the mother, because the father doesn’t give a … about that. As long as he doesn’t have to play all the traditional stuff with his In laws. Most of them don’t even teach the children tradition and so on.
Most Chechen men treat their Chechen wifes like sh*t. But they treat their non Chechen girlfriends and wifes like queens. They give them gifts, buy them cars and stuff. But when it comes to gifting their Chechen wife something, it is not respectful because of the relatives. That’s what hippocrates do.
I know many Chechen girls, that are struggling to get married because there are no good Chechen men left or they already have their non Chechen wifes. They don’t have an other option but to wait and eventually never get married or marry an old man.
The thing is, chechen people say, men are allowed to marry non chechen girls and that she will learn all the rules and traditionals. But she will never do it, especially not by force.
Even though your Muslim, you have very very bad traditional when it comes to marriage. You make everything 10000 times more complicated than it is in reality given by Allah. You think your way of thinking is better that Allahs plan. SubhanaAllah very very dangerous.
All the fitnah that your people will cause in because you don’t allow a good Muslim non Chechen man to marry a chechen girl, will be on your behalf on the day of judgment.
In the end, Allah won’t ask us about „how much of the your man made Chechen rules did you practice“ he will ask us about every other thing, that’s more important than some stupid man made tradition.
