Italian record producer Giorgio Moroder speaks to Ben Beaumont-Thomas about his long and varied career, from producing Donna Summer's hugely influential I Feel Love to Daft Punk's tribute to him, Giorgio by Moroder, and his recent reinvention as a DJ. He explains why the critics were split over his re-scoring of the Fritz Lang film Metropolis, and his plans for a disco-themed Las Vegas musical extravaganza

Needless to say, great master of the synthesizer however, without the genius lyrics and unforgettable voice of Donna Summer "I Feel Love" wouldn't be the same. Having said that, I feel love has been done by so many artist however, never reaching the magnitude of the magnificent delivery that Donna Summer conquered.

Giorgio was spot on about the Cantina Band how they didn't sound like a band of the future, whenever I heard the Cantina Band bit in Meco's "Star Wars" theme, first thing that came to mind is an old silent B&W Charlie Chaplin film which, the music easily sounds like 1920s jazz and would fit in well with a Charlie Chaplin silent film lol. Giorgio should of done the score for Star Wars as he and his sound engineers armed with moogs and sequencers would of made a soundtrack that truly sound light years ahead of time and better fitting for Star Wars!

Born in a community that spoke a latin based language influenced by German called Ladin that was a part of Austria but then became part of Italy a few years before he was born.
...and he spent years living in Munich Germany.

Pete Bellotte never gets enough credit for all that he did!!!!! always lives in the shadow of Georgio Moroder Georgio never gives him enough props . and Georgio was involved in making Great Music don't get me wrong but he should tell the truth for PETE sake :-) and PS. GIORGIO MORODER IS "NOT" A REAL "DJ" let's get that straight

Dear Cook, Giorgio was a kind of biling-bling Italian, he liked extreme sports, baseball caps, parties with Arnold Schwarzie or Bowie, and went to America with Donna. Pete was the introvert one, he wanted to be left alone with his books, art galleries and games...I know he produced Donna's first LP (folk country), does History (or Herstory) repeat itself ?

The shadow of Moroder...too much gaming!
How about rescoring Star Wars with Indie electropop?
