Thanks again Ron, I can assure you, there is no one like you working in any dealer here in Newburgh N.Y. I would not take a lawn mower to any one around here that I have dealt with. Master Techs like you are far and few between. Keep up your great videos. Thanks again.

Diesel tech Ron. You are a legend and the best damn diesel pro. Thank you for leaving us dirty fools such great information. RIP.
We subbed out an injector job due to not having enough of me to go around, and don’t you know I discovered cyl 8 drop instantly on power balance, turned around then 4, then 6 then a few minutes later cyl 2. Not having luck with bubble test men but there’s no question this injection installation went bad.
Lucky me . Tomorrow I tear it down

So glad I found this video. Could figure it out. Cylinder 8 injector was bad but was running fine. Thought it was fuel issue and turns out it wasn't. R.I.P Ron!

Thank you for your wisdom ! I believe my 2003 superduty 6.0 my have this condition. I have had it towed in twice. The shop couldnt find the problem. While trying to get up to speed shorty after cold start, truck wouldnt shit from 2nd to 3rd at 2500 rpms and continued to loose power until it died. I dont trust my truck at this time but it has been running great since. Also the truck starts fine.

I have a 2005 6.0 that started just stalling, did some clean up work adding stuff to gas and oil and thought it was fixed and then several months later it started stalling and then would not crank while hot. Already knew I had some bad injectors so we replaced all of them, removed EGR, replaced glow plugs, and ICP and although truck ran much better it still would stall occasionally while driving it like turning the key off. After much research my mechanic had only one guess and that was the high pressure oil pump so I had him tear into the engine again and the original pump did have a lot more play in it as if it were severely worn for only 105,000 but the biggest thing is the bracket that holds the connector for the line to the pump had the bolt crossed threaded so the bracket was not doing the job properly. The connector apparently had begun to leak under certain situations, the pump was replaced, new connector installed and bolt hole rethreaded and new bolt installed the truck now runs better than it ever has.

Waldomountainman I know this post is old, but ppl seeking help will always be around so I wanted to add my .2...
This was an excellent post because oil pump issues while not as common, were not necessarily uncommon. The mechanic here did not need to "guess". Leak checking the system would have revealed the culprit oil pump. The leak would have been heard here hissing through the dip-stick tube.

which way does that crush washer go because it is different on both sides? Also, did you replace the injectors or just the seals on this one?

After the injectors died off if you let it try to idle would they come back up until you gave it more throttle again or no once they died off they stayed down?

Our 2006 f350 6.0 will be running fine, then the fuel gage will drop and the truck just quits. We have put in new glow plugs, new injectors, new high pressure oil fitting, all new o rings, new high pressure oil regulator, new stem pipes, new fuel filters. Any ideas.

I'm trying to get better at the autoenginuity. It does quite a bit and is great for the price.

Cool, I have Autoengineuity, so I take it this feature is in enhanced only? If so I know what I will be buying next. I have enhanced Chrysler on mine and it is pretty impressive for what you pay for.

busjockey1 I've used the Modus Ultra on a few 7.3 and 6.0 PSD's and found out that you have to have the oil temp above a certain degree before it would allow you to run CCT's but it's there. IDS also had that stipulation as well if I remember correctly. I think Autoenginuity can do a "Power Balance" which is similar when in graphed view. Ford had a power balance test years ago with EECIV systems that could be accessed with most Scanners or hand held testers. I would like to have a IDS but my last dealer stent they only had two IDS carts with wireless network hub and some derk acting like the IDS overlord. Having my own IDS would be nice. Not sure what's coming next but I heard VCM's are no longer being made and some cars have to have a secure link directly to Ford's hub for PDI,Diag,Tune(reflash)and updates plus subscription cost. I'll take look at AutoEng again as a future device. Doing Exh manifolds on a 01 F450 7.3 PSD at work and I think doing head gaskets would be easier. They suck big time. I like watching Ron he cuts out the fat and a lot is taken in. It's that "all put together" info from experience that I can relate to being a tech myself.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VERY helpful & educational video, i have a 2003 6.0 diesel had exactly these symptoms and my diesel mechanic and i were pulling out hair out on this one ... once we did the contribution test ( which showed it starting with 2 and then 8 AND saw the air bubbles in the fuel bowl we NOW knew it was a damaged injector, where compression was pushing fuel back.... once we changed those injectors it runs like a dream now YOUR THE MAN!!!

Jesse Solinski This was the issue that led me to his site/channel. I thought I was the bad boy in town with the PS 6.0's here in my area. All the tough no starts, stalls, lack of powers, etc were sent my way. Then I had one of these, and it humbled me quickly.
I had two injectors go bad simultaneously. Both were aftermarket (don't do it), and probably over torqued. Mines were #2, and #4. It would wipe out the entire bank almost instantly. I was stumped for a while, then I ran into DTR's video, (this video), and started to use cylinder contribution in all my diagnosis.
