Would help taking wiper arms off as well, likely.

Man, I get hyped when my Ecoboost does better than 17MPG.
It is significantly larger though 🤣

When going downhill you waste less fuel in gear coasting than in neutral.

I have a UK St that runs on 99 octane only and on a long motorway easily hits 45+ mpg. Short journeys never drop below 36 and regularly hover around 39 on normal day to day driving. Mine is ramapped to 234 bhp and had a turbo outlet resonator delete though. I can't imagine putting such crap fuel in my car but I think this low octane really, affects your mpg amd so does putting biofuel in them.. Its around 10 percent less per tank on e10. In the UK our lowest octane is 95. Couple all that with your high ambient temperatures.

What I can't imagine is writing out this long of a comment without realizing two things.
One, you use a different octane rating system. Your 95 octane RON gasoline is the same as our 91 Octane here.
Two, you use a different gallon and have much lower speed limits lol. So, your 45 MPG is 37 MPG in U.S. measurements, which is about what I get in my ST when I drive to the northwest where speed limits are generally 60-70 MPH like British motorways.
Your 36 MPG is about 29 MPG here. So, in your numbers, in this video, my goal was 48 MPG. Additionally, I generally don't see below about 39 UK MPG in my car during general daily use, either.

Another big mileage sponge is Air Con but obviously a lot of drivers have to use it.

Yeah I didn't really exemplify why I was taking advantage of cool weather in the video but I did use the AC because I wanted to drive the car like I normally would to see if it actually makes difference. I didn't use it until the last couple of hours when I hit the 90 degree zones

@@BradenCarlsonAutos I'm a Brit and the cost of filling a cars tank has shot up here too. I remember Jeremy Clarkson on an episode of Top Gear driving to Edinburgh in Scotland from London and back again in an Audi A8 V8 TDI a round trip of 800miles on a 20 gallon tank. He had to average 40mpg,which he did by driving very economically but was running on fumes for the last 35 miles. He turned everything off too.

I'm pretty sure it uses more fuel idling in neutral than coasting in a high gear btw.

Yep modem engines will fuel cut when coadting in highgear above a stallpoint.

      Thank you!
I'm contemplating just moving things back to this channel and once again changing the name back to my own. However, I'm not sure how closely associated I want all of my old content to a channel that obviously bares my name. Obviously a lot has changed since those days.

I’m honestly surprised it doesn’t already get 40+. My hatch with a rebuilt engine gets 50+ in town with the tune it has.

Production value is really good on this video dude. You should coast downhill in gear though instead of neutral. The car shuts off fuel when you aren't pressing the gas pedal at all in gear. Neutral though it has to idle

I remembered seeing this in an Engineering Explained video but on my live readout it showed better MPGs when in neutral.
Maybe that would have made the difference lol
