@@AnneIglesias Right? I haven't even seen this channel before, I just recently got into The Dark Crystal a bit though. ^^ It's funny because I think I saw you around one other time some years back, but I forget on which video. @v@
@@wattpadwithpearl2902 Ugh same, and I don't understand why at all... I think it looks great! It's a unique, under-utilized medium, with pros & cons just like any other. What matters is the story, and the story in this show is sooooo good!!! It sucks that people are too judgmental to allow themselves to enjoy quality art just because it looks different. Thankfully there are plenty who appreciate all the love and care that was put into making this series possible!
Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance would definitely make Jim Henson proud. One of the very few cases of a prequel actually taking advantage of the world-expansion and improving on the original film. Easily the best Henson-related project since the 2011 Muppet movie. Plus, the behind the scenes movie was just fantastic. I didn’t think Houston could top the Kung Fu Panda video, but he did. Great video once again man. (Still can’t believe the director of this series did Incredible Hulk; talk about major quality boost).
I completely agree, Henson would be so proud of his daughter and how she has honored her father's legacy, and as you even said built on and expanded it. I even think this team of creative geniuses should be working on future projects at Disney Lucasfilm, they could really save the Star Wars franchise.
One little detail I loved from the show was the Skeksis tongues are CGI and it really brings them to life. At first I couldn't tell if it was CG or not. Such an amazing show. Also, the soundtrack is just incredible!
Inclement Films I don’t think they are, pretty sure they just spritz them with water and they have tongues. But not 100% sure about every skeksis, but I’m pretty sure the tongues are real
Yes I agree, to be honest, everytime I saw a gelfling I was taken out of the experience, they just look to fake to me, but the Skeksis are so incredibly convincing. They look like real living breathing creatures, and their CG tongues definitely improve them for the better!
i came into age of resistance without many expectations, but my god, did it blow me away. i didn't expect myself to fall in love with the show and its characters the way i did, but man, did i fall HARD. i truly hope this show gets a second season, it truly, truly deserves it!
A stunning masterpiece. This show is every positive adjective. Brea is my favourite. Love inquisitive, forthright, rebellious girls who defy status quo in pursuit of truth and knowledge. She keeps an awesome diary. I want one.
There's an action/adventure series called Thunderbolt Fantasy. It's a Taiwanese show, and two movies, dubbed and translated in Japanese (with English subtitles). I highly recommend it!
You know, I used to think the the Jim Henson Company was practically done after the poor reception to The Happytime Murders. But now I have a theory: I believe the Happytime Murders began development as a genuine passion project for the company, but as it got further and further into development hell, they might have said, "Ok, let's just make this into a typical s****y American comedy to get it out of the way so we can spend every ounce of our money and effort into making Dark Crystal Age of Resistance REDEFINE THE ART OF PUPPETRY AS WE KNOW IT". Now I can't wait to see what they do next.
People don't realize The Dark Crystal had a comic series for YEARS. That's why the story is so consistant and well written. It irks me when people skip over the fact.
@@risso2309 There's Creation Myths, which tells of the very beginning of Thra and the arrival of the UrSkeks and the breaking of the Crystal, as well as The Power of the Dark Crystal and Beneath the Dark Crystal which are sequels to the original film. There's also a manga called Legends of the Dark Crystal which shows a glimpse of the Garthim Wars. And more recently, there are Age of Resistance comics and a series of 4 prequel novels that tie into the show. Released as a tie in to the original movie was The World of the Dark Crystal which expands on the world of Thra, though it's not a comic or novel.
@@risso2309 I can't speak to their quality since I haven't had the opportunity to read them yet, but I looked into it recently because of the show and definitely want to experience more of the world.
It’s a testament to the show’s quality when it can make someone who’s not a huge fan of the original film into a fan. It’s also a testament when someone like myself, who’s adored the original film since childhood and considers it Jim Henson’s single greatest creative achievement, loves the show somehow even more than the original film. But Age of Resistance is so good that it does just that. Every frame of every episode is glorious and I might just buy a 4K TV simply to watch it again that way when it’s (hopefully) released on Blu-ray/4K disc. It’s so, so good and the world is a better place for its existence.
Always adored the dark crystal as a child, creeped me out in some scenes (mainly the emperor dying haha) but the puppetry and world building blew my mind at the same time. It amazed me how humans could make something so amazing and creative with their own hands and really make you feel for the characters/believe they were real.. And the little details in each scene to make the world feel real and lived in. Age of resistance is a goddamn treat and I'm so glad I'm alive to see it. They upped the quality of literally everything by 1000% I'm on my fourth run-through!
"Hope and humanity" in a non-human species. This underlines what is missing in the Star Wars prequels as well as a lot of bad sci-fi and fantasy. People need to see characters with complex emotional lives, characters who are smart and resourceful, even if they're puppets.
The prequels end on a note of hope, leading straight into the original trilogy, and there's plenty of humanity: Anakin's flaws like tendency toward anger and lashing out and allowing attachment to cloud his judgment, Obi-Wan devastated at what his friend has become, Padme's love and despair, etc. Did you even watch the movies? Just like the Star Wars prequels, Age of Resistance expands the world of the original and showcases great imagination and humanity in a complex story, enhancing the original tale.
This is the same experience I had! I always thought the original was cool but Jen and Kira are bland protagonists. But in Age of Resistance, I stan Deet, Rian, Brea, Hup & Co. HARD.
I completely agree. I watched the Dark Crystal for the first time recently and was disappointed with the bland and empty Jen and Kira, who sort of just shuffled around from place to place reacting to things with sombre misery. In a story already full of cruel and needlessly dark characters and a basically relentlessly grim tone right from the plodding and gloomy opening narration , they really did nothing to make the film a pleasant experience. In all honestly, I came away actually truly disliking the film. I almost didn’t watch AOR, but I’m so glad I gave it a try! I’m not Rian’s biggest fan (for one thing, I can’t help but hear recognise Taron Egerton’s voice which breaks immersion a little) but I love Deet and Brea and think the world building is simply awesome! The thought that has gone into structuring the different Gelfling cultures is great! I’m not one to rag on stories having black and white morality (I’m cool with good good guys and bad evil bad guys) but I’m surprised also at how much I like the premise of gelfling resisting the idea that the Skeksis are evil. It adds so much tension to the story and is a good source of emotional conflict as well. It’s just a really good show and I’m honestly stunned that it’s possible to dislike the original as much as I did and yet so love the series.
God, I absolutely adore this show and now have essentially become obsessed with TDC franchise itself. AoR made me cry multiple times, and it is full with raw emotion to the brim. (Also, skekGra, urGoh and urVa are the best characters in my opinion)
“Even among the supposed good guys in this universe, there’s still a layer of classism and prejudice which adds a ton of nuance to something that could’ve just been black and white.” As someone who has already seen two out of the four endings of Fire Emblem: Three Houses and is on the way to the third, that theme resonates with me and I look forward to checking this series out.
I'm holding out for a "Gray Havens" ending, where the surviving Gelflings flee across the ocean in the ships of the sea-faring clan, except for an infant Jen, who is being cared for by the Mystics, and Kira's mother.
@@justinchalifoux4424 I hadn't heard of that one. For all we know, there could be dozens of Skeksis out there in the world who wind up dying during the Garthim War.
its an extremely sad day when an amazing and passion filled project like The Dark Crystal: AOR gets canned after just winning an Emmy because it doesn't bring in ridiculous amounts of profits. Corporations are killing art
Thank you for taking the time to share and talk about this my friend! So many of us agree, and we think its going to be the next big franchise. A few of us have started a community of channels! I hope everyone gets a chance to come Dreamfast with Me!
I love that you've included the animated test footage in the review, because it's interesting to see what went into the behind-the-scenes process (everything was originally going to be animated/CG, but they saw something that didn't make it Dark Crystal-like, so they asked for puppetry to come back)! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
Max Stevenson Please do love it I can't say if you'll like it but you will definitely be entertained by the charters and there chemistry on screen, like ever scene with Gurjin and Kylan ( I know their not the main charters but come on their just so lovable and have amazing personalities and need more attention) is amazing and I laugh ever time just look in the background anytime their there and their still have their personality. Like when (not gonna say his name as to spoil it and I have no idea how to spell it great charter though hope we get to see more of him as well) the guy says ,"we heard your song carried on the winds" and in the back you can see Gurjin looking around at every like ,"Is NO ONE WONDERING HOW THATS POSSIBLE , LIKE...HOW?!? Just saying I had fun looking at all the clues that link to the movie like how (alright dude this is major spoiler traitor so if you want to find them for your self cool but if you wanna know them all then here ya go) OKAY! So if you see the flue that Kylan plays it's almost the same as the one Jen has and if ya look at Aughra's shirt during the "big surprise" it's the same one she wears in the movie. Also theory time- okay so I think that Deet and Rian are Jens parents because Jen does have that significant blue and dark hair is the same as Rian and that blue along with dark hair is what the Stone wood is known for along with the fact that Jen also has streaks of white in his hair from Deet. Now on to Kira's parents I believe that Brea and Kylan are Kira's parents because Brea has the lighter tones and if you've read the comic about Kylan you'll learn he is also sorta connected with nature kinda like Kira is, also Kylan like Rian has shown more concerns towed Brea and her well being so I think Kylan might have feelings for Brea and hopefully they'll expand on that in the next season. So anyway that's all the knowledge I have to vomit on to you sir or ma'am, on and one more thing I don't care what anyone else says Seladon deserved to get drained, good job to the writers and the VA though really brought her to life making me hate her even more. The end and good night....aaaww shit I forgot I have a test tomorrow
film maker definitely after the first episode it really takes off. I was kinda bored with the first episode too but after the 2nd episode I was so excited to see what happened next
@@apollo8030 yea, the first episode is a huge exposition dump but the show gets GREAT within the first five mins of the second and it just keeps escalating
Just finished it today and I have to agree with everything. It feels so classic fantasy, good and evil battling for control over a mystic relic that will decide the fate of the world in some way, each side filled with well-written characters, and all set on a unique and beautiful alien world.
I completely agree with everything you said! It’s an amazing prequel and I definitely feel like I can understand the original movie so much better. I watched the show and then rewatched the movie and there’s so many things I feel like I better understand about the conflict and the world the story is set in. I don’t think I’ve ever had that experience with a prequel anything before. It’s added so much depth and layers to an already deep movie. My favorite character is Deet.
I was never a fan of muppets, sesame street, nor did I ever see the original Dark Crystal. I went into this series with no expectation but I love it. It's an absolute masterpiece. A true work of art. Can't wait for season 2 and I hope this changes the game for the medium. Puppets arent for kids anymore.
That’s really unfortunate, because The Muppet Show is a true masterpiece of sketch comedy and performance art. I suggest you check out DVDs from your library if you can’t watch them online.
Maybe...maybe the Gelfling didn't *actually* die out, but went into hiding or hibernation or something? I mean, just because Kira and Jen THINK they're the last of their kind, doesn't necessarily mean it's true! *desperately clutches at straws*
I’m glad this show is turning people around to seeing and enjoying the original work. As someone who grew up with the original film, I agree that this show is the perfect prequel, and I hope for a few more seasons and maybe even a sequel series that touches on the expanded world and lore of Thra
The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance is easily one of the best written tv shows, hands down, I've seen in years. It easily beats out Game of Thrones or other big name shows with large quest like plots just by managing to remain true to itself throughout the whole season and tell a comprehensive and engaging story - all with PUPPETS! It's an absolutely amazing piece of work, a truly once in a lifetime you have to see it to believe it kind of piece of film history.
"The fact that Netflix even allowed a ten-hour series with practical puppets to be made is incredible, when almost anyone else would've deemed it too old-fashioned and time-consuming and costly." It's sad hours. I came to reminisce. I hope the series gets a second chance. #SaveDarkCrystal
I'm 35 yrs old and I still find this TV series to be an absolute masterpiece. This is probably my favorite Netflix show right now and I'm on my 11th go of watching it. I FREAKING LOVE THIS SHOW!!

Wow, i dont know if a review has ever described my feelings word by word so perfectly towards something like this one has. Yes, this show is fantastic and it made me fall in love with the original movie as well, I cannot wait for a second season because they really do deserve it!
I personally loved the original, but I love the prequel series even more. The storyline, the cinematography, the action, the music, the characters, and _especially_ the worldbuilding. One of the things that I felt was weakest about the original was the fact that it had so much untapped potential regarding that last factor, and this series addresses it so much. I get so immersed in this show that I can't help but wonder in the back of my mind sometimes, "How on earth did they manage this stuff with puppets??"
Agree with everything you said. I was never a huge fan of the original film, but I am OBSESSED with this show. Its my favorite show on Netflix and I desperately NEED a Season 2 and Season 3!
Rian, Gurjin, Deet, and Brea!!! Honestly just the best fantasy movie/show I’ve seen in so so long. It is so well done, people who haven’t watched it are absolutely missing out
Great movie and I agreed with all your points. I grew up watching the Muppets and TV kid shows with puppets with people. I love puppetry. The last puppetry entertainment I saw was The Happytime murders movie a year ago, it's underated and not that liked much, which is understandable. It got me thinking for the longest time why we don't have an on-going success puppetry show. I have always been waiting for something like Age of Resistance! I hope they make more seasons to come, or the company makes new series. Puppetry will never die!
The Dark Crystal has been my favorite movie since I was 7 and this prequel was a dream come true. Thank you for taking the time to watch it despite not liking the original, most people wouldn't have and it means the world to me that you not only watched it but didn't let your previous feelings get in the way of enjoying it. Thanks
I was a huge fan of the original (But yeah, I was more of a Labyrinth person)... and I was excited but cautious about the prequel (mostly because of how awful prequels usually are)... but after watching the entire series, I agree with you - it's the best thing I've seen all year!
I have and can attest that it's beyond words, a masterpiece which has already set itself as one of the iconic works of Magical Fantasy of this century! I have promptly fallen in love with it and I think it was surpassed even the iconic original movie, though, of course we'll always love it too. However, the Age of Resistance ten episodes have attained such a deeper level of the mystical aspects behind the fantasy that it has almost reached the level of sacred legends for us pagans. They were certainly inspired by some ancient pagan sources, this is so beautiful it brings us to tears, it´s magical poetry in narrative. And, obviously, the artistry in the production has reached the highest level of excellence and has indeed made history! Thanks for the lovely video, shared for sure!!
I tried getting my friends and family to watch this series, because I loved it. But literally nobody wanted to watch it because they were puppets, and the Skeksies had goofy voices. Also it was the fact that THEY WERE NOT HUMAN. Kinda pissed me off, not gonna lie.
This is the most beautiful video I’ve seen about the most beautiful show ever created. This is what I try to say to people when telling them to watch this! Glad I am not the only one in love with the characters, the adventure, and the world of Thra!
The fact the 2nd season was canceled only shows how we conform with unoriginal, repetitive media and don't give enough attention to shows as unique and beautiful as this one. Don't get me wrong, I actually loved Netflix's Witcher, but this deserved to get a second season way more...
The funny thing about this series is that it’s one of the few instances I can think of where I applaud the fact that it’s pushing boundaries on what can be done with a certain medium of entertainment.
I remember first time watching dark crystal as a little kid, not quite know what's about except good and bad but was exciting from all the puppetry performance and character in this fantastic movie. Now as an adult rewatching the movie once again... just as amazed as the first time but with so much more appreciation and understanding, the remake was equally beautiful and fantastic!!
In one of my college classes, I needed to pick a piece of media to do a report on and how it applies to our modern time. I chose this show and passed the class.
The cinematography is so great in this show. I was really doubtful about watching it, but I saw the trailer on netflix and it showed the scene where Rian escapes from the crystal castle by jumping off of a balcony. It convinced me instantly that I had to watch it. The whole show looks like a painting!
The characters are still very much creepy especially when they are more human- lookin at you gelfling. However, they are equally very compelling and lovable. Ma boi HUP! The story is so saddening- if you haven’t seen the 1982 movie, god have mercy on your soul. When you know the fates of everyone this series is the most depressing thing you’ll see for a while
I liked what you said about not relying on callbacks and “oh look, that’s how ____ got ____! Yay!” Or “oh wow she called the ship garbage because it’s the millennium falcon and luke called it a piece of junk in the OT. Woooowwww, amazing!!!” It’s kind of shallow in my opinion. It just gets the viewers excited for a short burst and that’s it.
There will be a second season! And maybe instead of newly discovering what was good about the first, it was merely revealed... But there all along for those with eyes to see. And alas, WAY ahead of its time. I wish Jim were alive to see this now. He'd be smiling.
After this show came out, but before watching it, I and my bf watched The Dark Crystal for the first time ever. I loved Labyrinth, and am hugely into fantasy, however I had never seen this film. And tbh I wasn't overly impressed. Partially due to the age of the movie, I found the storytelling flat while the story itself not very original. However, AOR looked like it was going to be amazing, and it was. I watched it twice in the space of a week, I am now reading some of the graphic novels, and can't lap up enough content on the show such as this or the documentary about it's creation. I wen't back and watched the movie again, after consuming so much from the prequel, and came to find that my opinion on the movie had completely flipped. Instead of the storytelling feel flat, it felt refreshing, while I came to find that the story itself no longer felt unoriginal, but 'classic' instead. As Houston says in the bio for this video, I have been proclaiming my love for this world and urging people to watch both the film and the show ever since. Being a puppetry show, I know a season 2 is not going to come for a long time, because AOR was a long time in the making, but I cannot wait for the next series to release, even more so than the last Star Wars movie. At least I'll get SW this year...
someone who actually understands that a comprehensive review does/should not need to be a spoiler filled blow-by-blow of every single plot point (not to mention is also pretty cute)? ok fine, i guess i'm subscribing.
I love all Jim Henson Productions, they're truly master pieces! I really aspire to be able to create something in my life that can compare to his works of art! Happy too see that even after his passing nearly three decades ago they keep making things I love!!
Great synopsis of the new series. I absolutely am obsessed with it and tell people who like the fantasy genre they have to watch it. It is so impressive on so many levels. Please give us a second season Netflix!
The trailer for the show got me hooked, surprisingly. I heard about the show a while ago but had no interest because I had no interest in the original film. This is the only netflix original show that I've watched and thoroughly enjoyed. I reccomend it to everyone I talk to. Every element of this show is terrific. And I "Hhmmmmm" now every day and refer to myself as Skeksis. I'm definitely rewatching this amazing show when I get my new tv. Not to sound cliche but I laughed, I cried, and cheered watching this show. Its just amazing. Having said all that, I did watch with a sense of dread as I realized that this is indeed a prequel. But will the series being continued and focused on these new characters overshadow the original film to the point where the world becomes an animal all its own and the film is left in the dust? Will the new storytellers actually find a way to give a sequel to the movie?
I think that's why I love this series (even more than the film, but that's not a criticism so much as the difference between a 90 minute story and a 10 hour one). The movie set up a complex world full of potential, but the series takes that potential and runs with it.
[Random exclamation of approval to raise viewer interaction statistics & encouragment for others to do the same] The lack of UA-cam attention to this wonderwork is plain criminal.
Great Video... Although my timing watching it couldn't be worse... Today is a sad day for all Dark Crystal Fans... the Skeksis overlords at Netflix have drained the coffer... No more Dark Crystal.

Released as a tie in to the original movie was The World of the Dark Crystal which expands on the world of Thra, though it's not a comic or novel.
@@alfredvickers4054 Interesting, I'll have to check those out
@@risso2309 I can't speak to their quality since I haven't had the opportunity to read them yet, but I looked into it recently because of the show and definitely want to experience more of the world.
I'm sure we might get a blu
Always adored the dark crystal as a child, creeped me out in some scenes (mainly the emperor dying haha) but the puppetry and world building blew my mind at the same time. It amazed me how humans could make something so amazing and creative with their own hands and really make you feel for the characters/believe they were real.. And the little details in each scene to make the world feel real and lived in.
Age of resistance is a goddamn treat and I'm so glad I'm alive to see it. They upped the quality of literally everything by 1000% I'm on my fourth run-through!
I'm still amazed at whatever practical FX magic they did to make the emperor crumble into dust
"Hope and humanity" in a non-human species. This underlines what is missing in the Star Wars prequels as well as a lot of bad sci-fi and fantasy. People need to see characters with complex emotional lives, characters who are smart and resourceful, even if they're puppets.
Change prequels with sequels
Uhhhhh....... I don't think you've ever seen ep1-3 at all.
“Even among the supposed good guys in this universe, there’s still a layer of classism and prejudice which adds a ton of nuance to something that could’ve just been black and white.”
As someone who has already seen two out of the four endings of Fire Emblem: Three Houses and is on the way to the third, that theme resonates with me and I look forward to checking this series out.
I'm holding out for a "Gray Havens" ending, where the surviving Gelflings flee across the ocean in the ships of the sea-faring clan, except for an infant Jen, who is being cared for by the Mystics, and Kira's mother.
Isnt there a pirate skeksis tho? I keep on hearing about this dude and I don’t know if that real or not
@@justinchalifoux4424 There is a Skeksis who is currently "Ambassador" who becomes the General that we knew in the movie.
RedwoodTheElf yeah but I’m talking about a “yarharhar me a pirate” skeksis. Apparently is a girl?
@@justinchalifoux4424 I hadn't heard of that one. For all we know, there could be dozens of Skeksis out there in the world who wind up dying during the Garthim War.
@@RedwoodTheElf not that many. Only 18 arrived at Thra. And yeah, its hard to believe only 2 gelflings survived, its not enough to repopulate.
The film was breath taking and the show was amazing. You're right; the only downside is I want more!
its an extremely sad day when an amazing and passion filled project like The Dark Crystal: AOR gets canned after just winning an Emmy because it doesn't bring in ridiculous amounts of profits.
You’ve convinced me to watch it
Max Stevenson Please do love it I can't say if you'll like it but you will definitely be entertained by the charters and there chemistry on screen, like ever scene with Gurjin and Kylan ( I know their not the main charters but come on their just so lovable and have amazing personalities and need more attention) is amazing and I laugh ever time just look in the background anytime their there and their still have their personality.
@@abluetale1016Its cool that you like it, I personally couldn't stand the exposition. Does it get better after the first episode?
film maker definitely after the first episode it really takes off.
It feels so classic fantasy, good and evil battling for control over a mystic relic that will decide the fate of the world in some way, each side filled with well-written characters, and all set on a unique and beautiful alien world.
that blue t shirt/hat combo is such an iconic Houston Look™️, now all we need is a HoustonProductions1 puppet wearing that outfit...make it happen
Love the smooth transitions into different aspect ratios
Maybe...maybe the Gelfling didn't *actually* die out, but went into hiding or hibernation or something? I mean, just because Kira and Jen THINK they're the last of their kind, doesn't necessarily mean it's true! *desperately clutches at straws*
In the sequel story the Geflings have repopulated Thra and I don't think these two are responsible for that entire population.
I’m glad this show is turning people around to seeing and enjoying the original work. As someone who grew up with the original film, I agree that this show is the perfect prequel, and I hope for a few more seasons and maybe even a sequel series that touches on the expanded world and lore of Thra
I haven't watched anything this captivating since the original Star Wars.
"The fact that Netflix even allowed a ten-hour series with practical puppets to be made is incredible, when almost anyone else would've deemed it too old-fashioned and time-consuming and costly."
It's sad hours. I came to reminisce. I hope the series gets a second chance.

I'm 35 yrs old and I still find this TV series to be an absolute masterpiece. This is probably my favorite Netflix show right now and I'm on my 11th go of watching it. I FREAKING LOVE THIS SHOW!!

YES!! seledon is such a brat
Wow, i dont know if a review has ever described my feelings word by word so perfectly towards something like this one has. Yes, this show is fantastic and it made me fall in love with the original movie as well, I cannot wait for a second season because they really do deserve it!
“Please stop watching the new Lion King ironically!”
Literally the next video I click has an ad for the new Lion King on BluRay.
I'm on my 3rd watch of the Age of Resistance and it's amazing! It's way better than the crap 8th season of GOT!!! They had 2 years 2 get it right!!
Its my favorite show on Netflix and I desperately NEED a Season 2 and Season 3!
seen labyrinth?
Rian, Gurjin, Deet, and Brea!!! Honestly just the best fantasy movie/show I’ve seen in so so long. It is so well done, people who haven’t watched it are absolutely missing out
You freaking nailed it, man! I cried several times during the show and even your video made me tear up a little bit. What a wonderful, special series.
Such a godd essay! Completely changed my mind about puppets.
Greetings from Argentina!
Nothing on this world or any other, will be greater than that book eating goblin in the library.
Thanks
We need like 6 seasons
I love the Dark Crystal Age Of Resistance, and I am HOPING WITH MY LIFE that they make a *Season 2*
I HOPE we'll have more shows like this!
I was a huge fan of the original (But yeah, I was more of a Labyrinth person)... and I was excited but cautious about the prequel (mostly because of how awful prequels usually are)... but after watching the entire series, I agree with you - it's the best thing I've seen all year!
the worst thing is that the S2 is not out yet... AND I WANT TO KNOW THE REST! AND I WANT TO SEE "THEM" IN ACTION!
"Sound familiar?!"
Lol. You have great production skills here, young Padawan. Kudos!
Yo I nearly lost it when they used puppets in a puppet based show
PUPPETCEPTION!!
I just found out they are making a second season. August 23rd 2024
even your short videos are such quality!! My favorite character is Kylan
The funny thing about this series is that it’s one of the few instances I can think of where I applaud the fact that it’s pushing boundaries on what can be done with a certain medium of entertainment.
A vid gushing all about the magical Dark Crystal Age of Resistance COUNT ME IN This series is beautiful I love it so much
Thank you so much for putting all my thoughts into words.
You, sir, have earned a new subscriber.
I’m utterly obsessed with this show. Getting a Lore & Hup tattoo asap 😆
Between this and Florpus, I'm impressed. Netflix is gonna fight Disney+.
That's the hope.
Your video made my cry.
And I am grateful for that.
Ending at season one allows us to take our lessons and get back to the real world,
In one of my college classes, I needed to pick a piece of media to do a report on and how it applies to our modern time.
When you know the fates of everyone this series is the most depressing thing you’ll see for a while
What makes the Na'Vi from Avatar (James Cameron) different than gelfling?
Dude I would pay so much just to go see the puppets in this show THERE SO FRICKEN DETAILED AND BEAUTIFUL
The Dark Crystal is the "Morrowind" of the Jim Henson creations. Weird, mysterious, and so different from what came before and after.
Hup, is the real hero. Hup is the lowest class and still manages to strive and inspire. Hup!
Also a must watch is 'The Crystal Calls' 1 hr 22 mins of wonder. Its a documentary about the making of AoR
This show needs to have Emmy's awarded!
I just started getting clipps of this in my recommends. Everything looks amazing.
Thankyou for the review.
I just started watching it this week and it’s the most excited I’ve been about watching anything since stranger things season 1.
Yes please! I want a second season so so bad
someone who actually understands that a comprehensive review does/should not need to be a spoiler filled blow-by-blow of every single plot point (not to mention is also pretty cute)? ok fine, i guess i'm subscribing.
I love all Jim Henson Productions, they're truly master pieces! I really aspire to be able to create something in my life that can compare to his works of art! Happy too see that even after his passing nearly three decades ago they keep making things I love!!
Loved the movie, and was so excited when I heard about this show. Cant wait for season 2!
Great synopsis of the new series. I absolutely am obsessed with it and tell people who like the fantasy genre they have to watch it. It is so impressive on so many levels. Please give us a second season Netflix!
Tbh puppets are not my style but it’s obvious this was done by a lot of talented artists, this breaths originality, like no other thing in the market
I was totally expecting this show to end where the movie begins. I'm hype for a season 2.
[Random exclamation of approval to raise viewer interaction statistics & encouragment for others to do the same]
The lack of UA-cam attention to this wonderwork is plain criminal.

best show over. support it and lets get season 2 and then a whole new series in thra in a different time line with new characters and lore
Great Video... Although my timing watching it couldn't be worse... Today is a sad day for all Dark Crystal Fans... the Skeksis overlords at Netflix have drained the coffer... No more Dark Crystal.
Check out Farscape for more hot muppet action.
Hoping they get around to making a series set in David Brin’s New Uplift series someday.
Terrific video Houston!
love your video and great to see another houstonian!!
Thanks for the video! Aside from Stranger Things this is one of my favorite shows this year! I'd rather see a Season 2 than any of the Disney remakes any day!!!
It was a beautifully crafted series! It was just stunning!
I love both , the original and the new serie of the Dark Cristal.
This was a masterpiece. It's a must see even if you haven't seen the original source material
