This might be the only video on youtube that has a live performance of Bhudda Rhubarb Butter, and a handful of songs from El Oso. Might be the only one on the Internet. I hope more footage like this ends up finding its way online some how. Seriously great video.
This is the first time I’ve seen this, but the sound quality is awful. Like 20 years ago I had an mp3 download of the same full concert but it sounded almost as good as a commercially released CD. Someone has to still have that good audio to replace the bad audio in this video.
I remember seeing these guys for the first time in 1995 and I was so close that Doughty spat on me while singing Bus to Beezlebub. They had such a great energy. They were still manic good when I saw them on tour with Failure in 1996, albeit in a larger venue. The last time I saw them was in 1998 in a much larger venue still, but it seemed a lot more mechanical than their earlier shows. These guys really were the precursor to genre agnosticism which is found everywhere in popular music these days. It just sucks that as their audience grew so did their internal disdain for each other.
Didnt get to see them here, but got to see just him open up for G Love and the Special Sauce in Eau Claire Wisconsin a few years later...sadly I dont remember much of that show, but I do know it was good...
@@brokenacoustic Thankfully, I’ve seen them many times. Me and G. are both from the same area, so he’s played here a million times. Always a good time.
The only band that asked their audience in concert if they had issues they liked to discuss and solved it even if the issue is "- We want Beck! We want Beck! We want Beck!" (41:40). e uma das mais interessantes bandas de todos os anos noventa.
Hello ColinMan1999. Thanks for this! I would love to get a good audio copy of this in wav, Flac, she etc. Is there someplace to find this, or can I get in touch with you about it?? Thanks!!
I think it works because the band is so tight and grooving, Mike can take it anywhere he wants with the lyrics, harmony and rhythm and it will all sound good. A lot of bands try to do this but the rhythm section isn't tight so it falls apart.
Even now the tension on stage is palpable, and the performance is over the top incredible as a result. It's kind of a tragic enigma, but I'm so happy that someone had this tape and I thank you for sharing it. Right around 97 is where I feel like they really started to go off the rails and up until the 311 tour this band was beyond incredible, even if not everyone on stage sees it that way. The first run of El Oso shows were some of the best shows I've ever seen any band play in my life.
Oh wow. It was only in the last couple years that there was finally a full show of these guys finally posted on UA-cam. Now there's like ......3 full live shows. REGARDLESS. Easily one of the most under rated bands ever. I got lucky when I saw them. Knew they were playing decided that day to go to the show. I've been to a few hundred shows easily and everyone of them I walked in wanting to hear 2 or 3 particular songs more then the rest. Only this show and Bind Melon did I want to hear like 6 songs. Both bands came thru, but Soul Coulghing played the two I want to hear the most in their last 3 song encore.
Incredible band in the studio. The sound never comes across when live. Bass is too low in the mix, and keys are too high and always sound out of place/key. Ugh. Great tunes sound like crap.
@@maxaronow712 He meant the spree bomber in Austin of summer 2019 lol. Not sure why he made such a connection to that guy, but the 9/11 one is more fitting.
Does anyone know what the song is at 5:20? Lots of live videos have them transitioning to it right after disseminated but no forums, comment sections, or google searches have yielded any answers
It’s called “List of Demands” I’m assuming they only played this live. They also recorded Irresistible Bliss twice with 2 different producers so maybe they played it in the original (which is lost by the way, but 1995 Mike Doughty did intend to release a directors cut).
@@crudecube Thanks man, it sucks that its lost I REALLY want a studio version of it. Do you know of any recordings/bootlegs that are better quality than this or the Urban Art Bar recording?
NivlacDX There was this one at the Bijou Theatre: ua-cam.com/video/autuaMP5Bsw/v-deo.html Honestly, I just went through all the l live shows I have saved on my playlist and none of them have Disseminated on the set list, but there’s a lot more of them audio only on internet archives, pretty sure they might have a few more.

damn i love drum & bass so much and wasnt expecting to listen "Shadow Boxing" on the opening haha
Soul Coughing covering Beck! now there's something I didn't know I needed.
both are genius musicians
Fuck ! SOUL COUGHING .......I.. still love it.

Very interesting to hear F Train interpreted by Soul Coughing. Awesome footage!
1:17:37 whoa mind blown!! Trust me turn up bass in headphones. This right here sums up the energy of live music in the 90’s for me.
Pretty fantastic song
Lazy Bones has one of their best bass line
yeah lazy bones is dope, but the bass line for how many cans ain't half bad...
Shawn Stewart. She was the host of Moonlight Meditations.

good comment, but I'd say Beck was 'genre agnostic' before SC
This is amazing
