- SCP-2000 is a Thaumiel class anomaly also known as Deus Ex Machina.
SCP 2000 is a subterranean Foundation installation for the purpose of reconstructing civilization in the event that a K-Class end-of-the-world scenario could not be averted in time to prevent humanity's extinction or near-extinction. Since its inception, SCP2000 has been activated at least twice. Foundation records regarding SCP-2000’s construction and history prior to this assumed first use have been lost. Whether this information black-out is the result of accident or design is impossible to determine.

so
they literally have the technology to perfectly clone the entirety of humanity,
but it requires a human to activate?
Can't they just, like, make it activate if it senses humanity is dying off or something?
Or assign a robot to it?
It's to help ensure it's not activated while the apocalyse is still happening. Imagine if it starts cloning and releasing people while demons are still toruring people outside or something.
It starts off requiring high level clearance to activate, the reasoning being someone high up would be able to make the judgement call to reset humanity. If nobody important survived to activate it, it can be assumed things got really bad. As time passes it automatically lowers its clearance threshold, say after 50 years it can be activated by any human survivor, presumably whatever ravaged the earth is over by then and the machine and safely repopulate the surface. After 100 years it might be activated if it detects small animals because that indicates the earth is probably still habiable. If after 500 years nothing is alive to activate it, thst might indicate the Earth is no longer capable of sustaining life and scp 2000 won't bother activating anymore. I just made those thresholds up, but that's the reasoning behind it.
Going off of other anomalies, it'd probably become sentient and get out of control lets be honest. Wasn't there an AI that got too biased or something they made? I don't really remember.
@@entropyapathy These thresholds may be made up but sound reasoning none the less.
@@entropyapathy They could fix that if they had some form of terraforming technology, so even in a completely dead world it could bring life back.

A simple gust of wind underground
Imagine what happens when the researchers find out that combining scp-579 with 055 does the same thing as 2000
2000 is a failsafe, 579 with 055 is the Ultimate Failsafe
One word: Redundancy. Having multiple backups is always a good idea in case one fails, especially with everything the Foundation does. And there's also UnLondon as a place to go if everything falls apart, but that hasn't been secured yet.
Also combining 579 with 055 is only canon in the 5000 entry )as far as we know), and it's a temporal reset, not a rebuilding reset. 2000 is canon in several other SCPs, not to mention many, many tales.
That's what I was thinking lol
@elijah mikle Actually the rule is that nothing is canon. Which makes more sense, some entities can basically affect every instance of the multiverse they live in, and some SCPs can't coexist with them. It's still a good rule though, each person has their own headcanon and each writer can write very freely.

@@Reuged666 fully aware, but thanks! just got a tad lost in my so-called weird SCP fantasies again
One of the possibilities of the SCP universe is that most anomalies are actually human in origin. Just of a civilization that came long before and was reset to the 21 century. And that the humanity of the SCP universe has been stuck in the 21 century for centuries, or maybe even millennia.
the other thing that can make SCP-2000 effective is if the XK event is never ending, a world filled with SCP-173, the eater of worlds or when Day breaks, that sun isn't going back to normal.
If it is not a problem if one of the clones dies, then technically it would be fine to recreate other stuff with SCP-2000. We could have more test subjects, more helpful SCPs, if someone of importance dies we can bring them back, and technically end world hunger.

Important details omitted from this explanation:
- The Foundation thought they could use the genetic records of humanity stored within SCP-2000 to try and breed aggression out of humanity. To give you an idea of why this doesn't actually work, a similar process is used IRL to domesticate animals, particularly foxes. Ergo, taking away aggression also takes away determination and resilience.
- An old note was discovered by the containment team stating that repeated resets actually caused WWII by turning the clock too far back, meaning that the Foundation may have accidentally introduced a bunch of historical events without intending to do so (then again, so have a bunch of other SCPs.) For this reason, the restart date cannot be any further than 20 calendar years prior to the "event."

Also SCP 2000: they have to rebuild the world and many will probably die.

Everyone: Again? Wait what?
Fun fact: "Deus ex machina" was an act preformed in ancient greek theatre plays. It was made so the play wouldn't be so long. It's basically an abrupt ending to the play by bringing in someone playing god to resolve the sotuation and therefore end the performance.
Edit: The "machina" in the name comes from a machine that would hold the actor above ground I think
i just discovered the truth about what a deja vu is
it is a memory from the future everyone lived in, before the reset. it is a tiny bug in ENUI-5, which makes some memories still accesable for the brain, which you then experience as a deja vu.
(sorry for my bad english)
This is both awesome and absolutely terrorfying.
We were never able to use this SCP When day broke and ended up using Unlondon instead...
We used SCP-2000 at least twice
I think they didn't use SCP 2000 because there wasn't really anything they could do, The staff on site were perfectly capable of not being affected due to a poorly understood condition called "multiple miles underground"
I feel like SCP-2000 would be a *disaster* if used in a “When Day Breaks” scenario unless they can use it to adapt humanity to an underground life. Otherwise the creatures could use it to produce an endless amount of biomass to melt and absorb
Or we can also use scp 055 and 579 to reset time ,
this is because there is very little canon in the SCP universe. In some canons, SCP 2000 doesn't exist and therefore they couldn't use it. If you can't understand just look at the SCP-001 proposals. Each one is their own canon. In each universe there's generally only 1 SCP-001, so that makes a bunch of universes.
I learned about this during my college high school course for greek plays, dues ex machine
Auto correct is a real ducking birth
This one is very thought provoking on quite a few levels..
One implication that is really crazy is since they back up the whole internet, websites like the one for the Domestication of Humans (if it hadn't been eventually unaccessible) would still be preserved in the internet archives and technically... anything that was posted from the time before the apocalypse would still be online to discover, even if it contradicted the SCP Foundation's efforts to make people forget.. (IE any underground forums or dark web sites that, depending on the End of World scenario mightve been able to document their citings online or have forums of conversations discussing the event).
I also personally question why *every* human allele was stored.. granted I'm not a biologist or geneticist but from my understanding not every gene is necessarily "good" for the evolution of the human race.. i guess they keep these all in place so that way a sudden lack of cancer and other genetic disorders wouldn't suddenly disappear from the record since they want this all to be a secret; but since they are able to alter records to pass off what would likely be at least a generation of rebuilding as nonexistant I wonder why they save alleles that may contribute to potential life-threatening conditions...
My biggest question tho is; what is the length of time in which it takes for this mechanism to be able to be activated by an animal? And can it be activated by an SCP? If so, what ramifications would that have..?
Could this be how the foundation is able to replenish its constant casualties against the various anomalies it comes into contact with and tries to contain?
I like the more frequent upload

I can’t imagine the pain of recontaining all the anomalies and all breaches that occurred during reconstruction
I like that this means that not only could humanity have ended 1000s of times in the past, but that this also means that humanity now could be nothing like humanity in the past, since all copies are flawed in a small way, and if you copy and copy over and over you end up with something completely new eventually.
What if this scp is real and we know it as the "mandela effect" and when the world was supposed to or "did" end back in 2012 that's when something similar too this took place

Nah the world didn't end in 2012, I was there.
@@chinggiskhan6678 but can you be sure?
@@preservedforhistory8766 Yes I am sure, because I have lived for a thousand years.

Aliens: Got it, we just have to bombard Yellowstone National Park with meteors. Then, we should be good.
I love how many containments use the Scranton anchors
I keep thinking of this with the when day breaks videos
December 29, 2020, Yellowstone erupts and Deus Ex Machina is destroyed.
December 30, 2020, why is there a health bar in the sky?
One of the stories. Scp foundation decide to end mankind for good. They do blow-up yellow stone to destroy it.

Alright, since the concept of 2000 has been presented to the viewers, I guess some of the many SCPs linked to it deserve their own entries now, so I'll make a humble request: please do SCP-3480/ Olympus Mons - I'm sure the sci-fi/quasi-super-hero vibes will translate really well to the channel format.
Them: it secret
Also them: puts the video on utube for millions to seee
Probaly this became one of my fav. Scps now
Thank you for giving us all the information on the Foundation's best kept secret :)
SCP-2000: one of the greatest kept secrets in the SCP world
This video: I'm about to end this mans whole career
Is this an infographics show subsidiary, associate, an animator or something like that? I love your videos! Thank you!
I'm surprised how S.C.P still hasn't discovered the Overworld Committee, they're responsible for everything out-world related including actual aliens and cosmic anomalies like Mythology and the sun.
The earth screaming is what did it for me😂😂
This channel is so fucking good. The stories and animation is very easy to digest. And they still go in great depth about the SCP's. Really got me hooked.
Fascinating.
Woah, nice!
SCP Foundation: No one can ever know about this machine, the results would be catastrophic if it got out!
SCP Explained: Here’s literally everything ever about this machine that we should never tell anyone about
Lol
@SCP-049 uh oh
I love they acknowledged the memetic safeguards the foundation had on some SCP articles.
cya- just got to love that little bit, it's same as civil service slang for Cover Your Arse!
Imagine this is the reason why most of us don't remember our childhood memories or a part of our life, like I remember I went to this place but I don't remember when with who or why?
Well duh, there's a reason why it is named Deus Ex Machina
