While everyone is gawking just how cute Ellie is, can we just take a moment to realize just how insane this whole project is going to be. By 2025, i expect a fully android version of Neuro walking around.
If AGI gets created in 2025 (rather optimistic, but not impossible) we could see the automation of robot design. Robots being improved within simulation at an astonishing rate. I’m talking 10 years of R&D in seconds. Then if AGI gets open-sourced and the twins become generally intelligent systems (let’s say 2027), then they would already have so much robotics infrastructure to work with to give them android bodies. Unitree is already planning to release a humanoid AI robot that costs only 16K, so imagine how cheap robotics may be within a few years. There may very well be an open-source community dedicated to building AGI robots in their garage within the next 10 years. The future has many possibilities. Let’s hope it turns out amazing for the twins, and may open-source prosper!💜

People that were saying using metal instead of 3D printed parts were probably worry about Neuro durability with her being placed in a pretty crowded place. But 3D printed parts would be the better option, 3D printer resin is surprisingly stronger now compared to before, and making replacements is considerably easier than hammering a new metal one, and way cheaper too. But making a Neuro dog with 2 forks attached to her front sound hilarious.
