    For me it’s worth it just for the feeling of it all been paid for and not have to worry about how much I’ve spent .
    I bought the deluxe drinks package as that’s food and now drink I don’t have to worry about which leaves pretty much nothing to worry about other than presents or souvenirs etc , I also got my sons drinks package absolutely free as some sort of offer which is a bonus .
    Plus I can get a Costa too .

    Makes me wonder if many people buy these alcohol packages, if so they would probably return from holiday ill, or as a converted alcoholic ! Interesting video sir. 👍🏻

    Wife and I just survived 14 nights on Ventura, with onboard spending totalling £547.35 on pay as you go. Wife is teetotal and lives off diet coke, while I like a large glass of wine or a beer with my evening meal, plus the occasional Costa coffee. That spend also includes £40 on a hoodie, £60 on perfume, £75 on jewellery and 3 visits to the Beach House premium restaurant. I could not imagine myself drinking my way through 40-quids-worth of alcohol every single day; my liver would probably give up by day 7

    The only packages we used were the wine packages, which we used at meal times, but they seem to have disappeared. We both like a drink but have never been anywhere near the levels of making the Classic package worthwhile. I think we'd struggle to drink that amount of value in a day, never mind each day for 7 or 14 nights!

    • @CaptainChrisCruises
      @CaptainChrisCruises  9 місяців тому +1

      Me too, but each to their own. A wine package for meal times would suit us better but, alas, they are no longer an option. Thank you for your comment.

    In your video you said you can take “one litre of spirits” on board. I am told that P&O have just recently changed this to “one litre of wine”. This makes a difference when considering the drinks package.

    • @CaptainChrisCruises
      @CaptainChrisCruises  8 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for your comment. Having checked the P&O website today, it says you can take a litre of wine, champagne, beer, spirits or liqueur. Just one out of the five. If there has been any change to this policy in recent days, I can't find any mention of it. Enjoy your holiday.

    Hi. Would you know if a bottle of sherry (fortified wine) would be allowed in their new policy of taking alcohol on board.
    Thanks for a really good video, has convinced us to have the classic package.

    • @CaptainChrisCruises
      @CaptainChrisCruises  Місяць тому

      Thank you for your kind comment. The Ts&Cs say "one litre of wine or Champagne" is allowed, and "other alcohol types such as spirits are considered restricted items". My guess is that sherry is not considered to be wine, although I take your point about it being fortified wine, and is therefore prohibited. A quick phone call to P&O would confirm this if you still want certainty. You have posted this question under last year's video, so please make sure you watch the May 2024 update video for the latest information. Have a great cruise. Best wishes.

    We have booked a P&O cruise for September and was confused by the value proposition of the drinks packages. This is a very information video and gives me peace of mind that i made the right choice with Pay as you Go option, since we dont drink that much and the onboard prices seem fair.
    On a side note, are there any drinks which are free to consume other than the water dispensers? Im thinking tea/coffee with meals or are they paid for?

    • @CaptainChrisCruises
      @CaptainChrisCruises  4 місяці тому

      Thank you for your kind comment. Yes, there is free tea & coffee at breakfast & dinner in the main restaurants, and the Horizon buffet has free drinks machines too. I regularly helped myself to coffee from there, but I think there were soft drinks too, if I remember correctly. It's just standard coffee that's free, not Costa. Have a great holiday in September.

    although it is 15 alcoholic drinks per day ,i presume they would be doubles. are the non alcoholic drinks available all day ?
    or can you only have 15 drinks whatever

    • @CaptainChrisCruises
      @CaptainChrisCruises  10 місяців тому +1

      With regard to alcoholic drinks, you are entitled to doubles if you purchase the Deluxe package. Therefore I believe the limit of 15 drinks per day would mean 15 doubles, if that's what you wanted. I have checked P&O's terms & conditions and can't see anything that contradicts that. If you purchase the Classic package it only includes singles. Non alcoholic drinks are unlimited. Hope this helps, but please check P&O's Ts&Cs or give them a ring to confirm. Best wishes.

    We are a couple of oldies and like wine him red myself white, then a few more we have a 750 on board voucher so can we use that?

    • @CaptainChrisCruises
      @CaptainChrisCruises  9 місяців тому

      Hi, thank you for getting in touch. Yes, if you have credit to your on board account, you can use it for all drinks at all venues. A bottle of wine starts at about £20, or you can buy it by the glass, so your on board credit will buy you a fair bit of wine. If you do use all your on board credit, whether on wine or anything else, you simply pay the difference at the end of your holiday. Have a great holiday.

    We have booked the classic drinks package. I was wondering if there is a way to keep track of the number of drinks and, more importantly, the 15 minute rule. A small glass of Prosecco will easily be finished in 15 minutes especially with a meal.. Can you keep track of it on the app? Does the 15 minute rule apply to non-alcoholic drinks and costa coffees? Does the 15 minutes start from when you order it or when you receive it? Do you need to tell the server about your plan? Do we each need to go to the bar with our key card or can one person take both cards to order 2 drinks? We wouldn't want to lose our table if both of us have to go.

    Do you get free wine with your evening meal in the restaurants, or are you charged ?

    • @CaptainChrisCruises
      @CaptainChrisCruises  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for your question. Unfortunately no, there is no free alcohol with your evening meal. You either have to pay for it with your on board account (you may have some credit on this as an incentive when you book), or you buy a drinks package, in which case you could use this for your dinner drinks. The only free drinks you'll get with your evening meal is tea or coffee afterwards. If you have a reasonable amount of credit added to your on board account, this can go a long way towards covering your drinks, but this obviously depends on how much credit and how many drinks you get through. Best wishes, enjoy your holiday.

    So if I buy a drink package, am i allowed to share that with anybody. For example , if i'm allowed 15 drinks a day, can I give one of those drinks to somebody else?

    • @CaptainChrisCruises
      @CaptainChrisCruises  Місяць тому

      Absolutely not. Everyone in the same cabin must buy the same drinks package, and there must be a 15 minute gap between drinks orders. I notice you've put this question below the older version of my drinks package video, so make sure you watch the updated, May 2024, version before your holiday. Best wishes, and enjoy your cruise.
