- Gubernatorial candidates Tudor Dixon and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer met for a debate hosted by WOOD TV8 Thursday, taking every opportunity to sling mud at one another while also trying to show voters they are the best choice to lead Michigan. (Oct. 13, 2022)

@@victoriabigelow1237 Hmm, let's think about this. I know gas prices where I'm at were $2.09/gal when Trump left office. They're at $4.29/gal now. That's seems pretty significant to me, or an objective measure as you like to call it. As far as the COVID response goes, I seem to remember it was Trump who pushed the pharmaceutical companies into getting your precious vaccine out in record time. I also remember when he put the travel ban on China back in early 2020 all of the democrats were calling him xenophobic and racist for doing so and the liberal media was telling everyone there was no way the virus would come to the United States. Now try and tell me any democrat would've done any better and ask yourself again who the real dodo birds are.

Why is it that when you view the commentary, it's almost 90% or more in favor of Tudor Dixon yet the polls indicate that Whitmer is supposedly ahead in the polls?
I think it's self-selection bias: commenters on UA-cam are not a random sample and more likely to be hardcore nutbars in favor of guns and election lies.

Deemed me along with several other million working citizens in Michigan nonessential work Causing thousands of small businesses in Michigan to close the doors! Well she made it illegal for others to go to their vacation home she had no problem with her and her husband vacationing at their lakefront property!
Closure was necessary to save lives. Talk to the antivaxers about why it was necessary for so long.

Whitmer's COVID policies saved thousands upon thousands of lives. The fact that Dixon is an authoritarian and overall nutjob (e.g., guns, abortion) won me over. But then, I didn't really need to be won over. Whitmer is a great governor.

I was an essential worker as were the rest of the people at my company. We worked every day, and did not get covid, the people who worked at my grocery store did not get it. To many working people that did not get it, and to many people who did stay home and got it. this proves that no lives were saved by forcing people to stay home.

Yes armed security would be able to stop a threat and deters a threat in the first place. It's why shooters target schools duh. You call the guys with the guns when something happens why not have armed security already there.

They have dropped the gas tax in their state but only for this month. Their's will get back to ours in November
Illinois dropped gas taxes and is still almost a dollar more than Missouri who has not. Democrat states have suspended gas, grocery and various other taxes, and mailed property and income tax "rebate" checks out. They are buying votes with our money and it's straight bullsh*t. :-/
What I will never understand about debates--is that candidates state the opposite position from each other as facts. By default, someone is either lying or delusional. Whitmer said that Michigan is having the fastest recovery economically? How can this possibly be true?

Our state is in a crisis and so many people are out of work and under a great deal of stress just trying to keep families together. I agree CRT has no place in our schools. I didn’t really felt the Covid-19 crisis here in Florida because we have a sound mind Governor who made great decisions for his people. Preventive measures is best to avoid the virus. Dixon won the debate hands down. Gretchen record has come back to haunt her. She seemed defensive and deceptive. Tudor touched a nerve and it was obvious to watch as she fumbled around trying to convince people that she has done a good job. The evidence doesn't support her claim and Tudor called her out on it. Gretchen appeared desperate. Maybe she knows her time is up.
Tudor showed herself to be intelligent and articulate and her rebuttals were factual and accurate. She'll make a great governor.
