I love it when Kenny films Dan looking at stuff. It's like "look at my friend having a good time". So wholesome!
"These were fondled by Carrie Fisher" is a sentence I never thought I would hear. And I appreciate it.
There's all kinds of sentences said on this channel that no one ever thought they would hear. That's our goal.
As someone who’s wanting to cosplay as Jude Law’s Captain Hook, you have no idea how grateful I am for how much you looked at that hook! I saw the small glimpse of it in Dan’s intro for his video on this exhibition, and nearly choked on air.
That thing is AWESOME. Exactly as Barrie describes, an iron hook. Totally a murder machine. Makes me think of Freddy Krueger’s glove. I can’t really tell here, but is the base of it, before the sleeve starts, and the hook itself extents, meant to be wood? I don’t really see any grain there, and so I almost want to say it’s made of cork. Or rather, made to LOOK like cork.
I know people have problems with holograms of people who have passed, but this seems like something Walt would’ve wanted.
The animation for Mickey is beautiful 6:16
It’s cool seeing how little you have to wait in line now that the hype has died down. I made the trek out on opening day and it was packed with other Disney people
Wild. I think it was just okay. Some stuff was really cool. Other stuff felt a little light. I felt like they could have done a little more because after all, they are Disney.
Also, at 34:02, is that a cat using cheese to catch a bunch of Mickey Mice? oh no
Seeing all this and everything of the Disney 100 exhibition made me wanna go back and see it all again and I would want to stay there forever I mean it took my heart away and I love Disney as much as anyone else does so keep on thinking about the magic of it all and keep dreaming of it too cause it’s so unforgettable and very memorable to me and it’s what I’m a fan of Disney’s the best ever
Go back in and punch that hologram. lol I love the snark ❤
We were also let down by the sheer number of repro pieces. Like, it was cool to see all the physical 'artifacts' but literally every piece of paper in the exhibit, all the artwork and the music sheets were reproductions and it was kind of a bummer!
I loved all the physical pieces - Walt's name badge, the freakin binford tools paint thinner, the Pixar computer, the actual McCall's Mickey pattern - but it just felt weird having so many reproduction pieces!
also I remembered the Franklin Institute being WAY COOLER when I was a kid, there were so many broken or otherwise not working exhibits that it was a massive bummer!!!
It kind of makes sense, though. Too many Disney Guests are bad at following the basic rule of “no touchy.” I wouldn’t trust them with the originals of Mickey’s design sheet.
You nerding out over the vehicles was wonderful lol I love these vlogs. You have the funniest comments. I liked the Ben Franklin statues.❤
Yeah, I agree that it doesn’t seem worth it. I don’t go to museums to see reproductions, I go to see the actual items.
I mean, it’s only really the paper stuff that’s repro, the physical objects were originals
Watching you and Dan react to all this stuff is pure and priceless
Dan has found the sacred texts!
This unironically cured my depression
I totally get having a crush on Mary Poppins
we REALLY need to stop using tech to REANIMATE THE DEAD
Who are you to say
But, if Walt didn’t wanna do that, we wouldn’t have advanced in audio-animatronic technology
I won't be satisfied until Abraham Lincoln is brought back from the dead to free the commonwealth
Fr people are so obsessed over bringing walt back or spread theories about his body. JUST LET THE MAN REST
Yeah, this is kind of creepy. And the mismatched audio reminds me of the Alvin & the Chipmunks movie when the boys tricked a super-jet lagged Dave into saying keywords they remixed into a call to go to Europe the next morning.
I think that the reason that book in the gift shop was $400 was because it was from the 90s (seeing as it stops at Hercules)
I had that book as a kid. I probably still do in a box somewhere. I'm rich bitch!
oooohh, Kenny's seal of disapproval
27:45 "Menu shot. Menus shot. Right Now you're looking at the menu shot"
Was there any Song of the South memorabilia at all?
Part of the museum experience is paying to be in the room with the “real” item. A reproduced piece of paper, no thanks.
It’s interesting how those spaces have had to evolve into essentially playgrounds.
Great Gen X snark=❤ energy in this vlog
I don't really mind the use of reproductions, though I get why it's disappointing. It's still cool to see stuff like which Mickey design Walt picked, and storyboards/production pieces of of Snow White up close rather than just looking at it as a decent quality jpeg online.
The book in the gift shop that's 400$ is probably just long out of print... and written by Bob Thomas, who is a pretty popular Disney history author now. As someone who collects books because they love to read as much as they love Disney, it's probably just an out of print release. I have a copy of the updated and possibly more detailed version of this book somewhere and it was nowhere near 400$. However, I do have a book worth 1k$ but that has nothing to do with Disney...
17:52 Beautiful piece. I would do basically anything to be able to own that or something close to that. Genies my fav.
Both of you guys are awesome 😎 UA-cam channel.
Gods hands have touched this 😂
Finally got around to watching this vlog! I thought the exhibition looked pretty cool. :) But also a bummer that everything was pretty much a reproduction. I would have been disappointed also. And the fact that they didn't have much in the gift shop worth hyping.... Did y'all even get anything? When I first started this I was like "man! Road trip to Philly!" But I think I'll pass. If it comes to Michigan (Henry Ford or DIA) I'll go but no road trip for this lass. P.s. knowing that Dan is only a year older than me makes me happy (knowing that all of us are of the same Disney generation) :)
we didn't get anything. It was all very expensive. I think Philly is growing on me a little. They do have some amazing museums throughout the city. I will probably go back to some of them.
@@pleasestopvlogging please do! We'd love to see your adventures 😊
I hope you two enjoyed my dirtbag city 😉 I basically grew up in the Franklin Institute (and the Philly zoo) haha
"Did you like when I tied a balloon to my butt" - pooh
What on earth were those wierd things on the back section of the Rivian? Mount for something? Some kind of weird wings?
Sorry you had to go to Philly. It IS a dirtbag city. I grew up there. Born in Allentown.
I hope they bring this to Denver
coooool
Too many repros for my liking, I feel like half of this you can just look at pictures online and get the same experience 😢
How Covid kucked the Heart Room
Yea up Iwerks
