Thank you for your advice I love your videos today is my birthday May 9th I'm 66 years old I pick up a bosun's 1960 and I can't think of a better guy really watch then your videos thank you
OK..I'll try it Been shooting pretty well since 1975. But it sounds like it makes enough sense to give it a try.. And I subscribed Love my Sky Trophy longbow 55# Had her 30+years now..
A brilliant video Jeff your tips have really transformed my archery i have been shooting for many years but sruggled with accuracy they say theres no silver bullet in archery but your last video is the exeption to that rule.you are a really are a talented guy with the ability to teach without ego. This is a genuine reply refering to Jeffs skills i live in Buckinghamhire in England and we do not have access to instructors like you Jeff to inprove our learning in instnctive archery. Keep up the good work i have yet to see archery instruction of this quality on You Tube.!
In case it didn't come through clearly I picked up a bow in 1960 and started hunting it 1962 I've been around a while but I can't think of a better guy tells how to hunt with a longbow better than you I've been hunting with long ways and recurs as a matter of fact that's all we had back when I started so you learn to get good with what you have but then you do a fine job I just want to say that to you and can't wait to see your next videos thank you
Tried it at our clubs 2nd annual 3D competition today. What an amazing difference in my results from last year. I wish I had seen this video over a year ago.
Awesome! It’s amazing how little things can make such a big difference in archery lol thanks so much brother and it works great with a slight cant on the bow also that’s my method, it opens up my sight picture window s little more 👍🏻
Hi jeff, I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I like most of them and found them very helpful. The one that has made it all come together is this one “the stance”. My group’s have gone from 6 inch down to arrows touching at 18 meters in just shooting 20 arrows. So I thank you for helping me achieve my goal.
Shooting under the glow of my garage flood light this morning and I have to say I saw an immediate improvement!! Not being able to see the arrow impact helps with my focus for the next shot. Actually shot 3 arrows in the same hole!! Thanks for the tip(s)!!
This closed stance is how I naturally stand. Did playing baseball for years. Do now learning bow. I’ve seen a lot of videos with people using various stances that feel natural to them, just like ball players, and I feel more confident in my stance and the feel of my shot having seen this video. Great quality instruction and video as usual. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Jeff, thanks for all the advice. I'm converting from gap shooting to instinctive. I did OK shooting gap, but just couldn't break the habit of opening my left eye once I'd acquired my gap, just before release. That sounds idiotic, but I just couldn't bring myself to keep my left eye shut. It's like I needed to see that arrow go down range. So I'm working on instinctive and actually found I shoot better. It's still a matter of acquiring a sight picture for lack of a better way to put it, but I enjoy it more than gap shooting which should help that much more in getting my groups tighter. Thanks for all you do.
It also greatly improves shooting with a cant and leaning in like so many do just like you would in a hunting situation, helps get a little more draw length and really stabilizes your shot thanks so much for watching!
I'll be doggone, my arms were more stable or steady and I did start grouping better. My biggest issues now are consistently anchoring properly and understanding the target in relation to my sight window. MORE PRACTICE ! Oh, I am also throwing out a few small fluffy cat toys to shoot at and it's definitely helping. Thanks again.
I'm new to shooting and was wondering how this translates to hunting situations. I'm definitely going to try this cause I kept saying to myself today that I needed to stop moving and have a relaxed release. Thanks for sharing 🤙
Thanks brother, the best I can answer is in a hunting situation there’s no telling how you might have to shoot at a deer especially from a tree stand lol so I practice shooting from every possible position just in case I have to make a shot but in a perfect world they’ll let you use the normal form and that’s usually not the case 🤣👍🏻
I'm going to try this tomorrow. At 10 yards my shots are about 12 or 13 inches. Sometimes I'm on Target other times I'm around it. Mostly up and down but 4 inches left and right sometimes. I will report back with my results after watching this video. Stand by to stand by...
( part 2) during my draw I am looking at what I want to hit not looking at the arrow tip at all. I am not sure if this is gap/ split vision or instinctive. It might even be a combination of the two. But I do know one thing if you follow your advise on form back tension, straight elbows, a smooth release release, and picking a spot your shots will group better. Plus you will be more accurate. Then repeat this over and over. Thanks for you advise keep the videos coming.
That’s definitely instinctive and I believe split vision can come way more into play when you’re shooting long distance because the arrow or the tip is pretty much blocking your spot at least around 45-50 yards in most cases especially with lighter poundage bows but if you can clearly focus on a spot and shoot it’s definitely instinctive 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing! Perfect timing. This might change my D.L a little before I cut a new set of arrows! Thank you for your tips on arrows as well. Keep them coming! Any tips on the occasional arm slap and nose rub by string?
Well I actually get a little nose rub myself from time to time especially doing this lol but as far as arm contact no, all of our bows run close to if not an 8” brace height and just don’t do that also the way you cradle the grip makes a huge difference in that 👍🏻
Hi Jeff, a real good instructional video. I've had a lay off from shooting due to a bug I picked up, felt weak and out of sorts. Anyway, I'm back to shooting again but my accuracy is just awful. I think that my form and position of my feet may be the main problems. Can't wait to get out and put your instruction into practice. Thank you and best wishes from UK.
This is the way I shoot. 1st I adjust my elevation before I shoot using the tip of my arrow. When I start my draw I don’t look at my arrow tip again, I just keep my bow hand as still as possible and in my pre-drawn position( my pre determined elevation)
Yes I do pretty much the same thing only my pre draw elevation is my bow arm just from shooting so much lol but whatever works keep doing it brother 👍🏻
Do you also use this technique while in a stand in the deer woods? Of course we sometimes have to twist and contort into weird angles depending on where a deer walks out, which is why I’m asking. Thanks in advance.
Great question and the answer is no, only because the deer never seem to give me the chance lol I have to make the shot any way I can but it definitely helps standing on the ground or in a blind from a sitting position for sure thanks brother!
Good video. I tried this because my stance isn't that great. This really helped me lock my shoulder blades and perform the push pull method without thinking about it allowing me to focus on my anchor more. Do you think the difference in angle from shot to shot would cause inconsistencies?
Obviously very disturbing that your bow journey is ending, but obviously your health is more important, hoping you keep your utube videos coming and your helpful teachings, I look forward to your next videos always, but God only knows each person journey, God 🙌 bless, keep pressing on like Jesus and all of us who follow Christ, God sais pick up your cross daily and follow me, and boy he meant it, amen those of us who choose to follow has to endure
Your videos have helped me tremendously. Any advice on shooting instinctive over 40? I lose my spot behind my hand or riser. Curious what your thoughts are
Well it all depends on the trajectory of the arrows, some setups still allow you to be looking at the spot while others especially lighter poundage bows will have it blocked out and in that case all you can do is shoot split vision and just practice knowing how high to elevate the arrow while still lining up the right and left and let it rip lol
@@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998 thank you sir. Ill see if i can get that sight picture figured out. No turkey hunting down south? Full rut here in PA. Come on up if you ever want to hunt! Keep those videos pumping!
I’ve got a 35# and a 40# set up with the gold tip warriors, I’m running 600’s in mine they’re really good arrows for light poundage bows and very affordable 👍🏻
Hi Jeff Please don't stop the UA-cam videos they really are the best source of instinctive learning . your the best God bless u and thanks
This is why I watch your videos man, it's the only place I get these tips that actually help my shooting

Absolutely brother this should help with that for sure
Thank you very much for the great tips. Extremely helpful!
In all my days I’ve never seen that taught. I’ve done it subconsciously but never thought about it
Thanks for the advice. The sun's out, I've finished work for the day, and I'm gonna try it out. ( as soon as I've made myself a cup of tea ) 👍👍
Thanks Jeff, it's a great tip. Just started bow shooting here. This helped a lot.

There is a YT vid called the archery form the wedge that explains the angles and force vectors with the closed stance

Strangely, just yesterday I came to the same conclusion while experimenting with my stance.

Probably so, it’s wild just how much even 1/2” of draw will make in a shot.
Interesting, gonna try some of this out today. Can't say I've ever purposely shot with that much of a angle in my body.

More than a secret... opposite of what's commonly taught. You DO shoot well!
Wow...
Sometimes that perfect stance is hard to get from the platform of a tree stand.
I guess this is called a closed stance?
sorry problem was on my end
very poor audio

Hi, brother, today is the Lord's Day---the real Sabbath, we should rest in Him, we should not practice bow shooting because it is a hard work.
