@John Sluder Try servicing the cooling system per the operators manual using the CORRECT GM COOLANT FOR ALL GM VEHICLES AND ENGINES WITH ANY ALUMINUM IN THE COOLING SYSTEM CALLED "DEX-COOL" AND YOU WON'T HAVE "HEAD BOLT FAILURES".
We called them "Death Stars". I had 178 of these 'outa the car for various fixes before I happily retired. Thirty eight years as a Cadillac line tech convinced me that Cadillac had BIG problems with many of their engines.
I am an American living in Australia. I have a 2001 STS that I was lucky to find here from a car collector in Sydney. I left the identical car in America and it broke my heart, but found one here and am very interested in getting these dual dyameter headstuds installed. Can you export parts to me?
Try servicing, maintaining and operating your "beloved" Cadillacs per the owners manual and you won't have "engine issues". Ever heard of "Dex-Cool"? No? I rest my case.
i have a 2006 sts v 4.4L supercharged can you provide me with a head gasket somehow im almost at a dead end for not finding any on the online market place
I just got a P0301 reading.1st cylinder misfiring. Top fix. Replacing head gasket. 2nd top fix is replace spark plugs. Is this how the head gasket problem starts showing up? My 99 Cadillac Seville has 84,000 miles on it.
My 96 Seville started misfiring at 100k, replaced plugs and wires and all good. Coils started to go next, but those are 5 minutes to replace and cheap on eBay. I would not start with the head gasket, unless you know for a fact that's the problem. $$$$$$, unless you know how to do it.
François D Its basically a factory racing engine, its a shame the fuckheads who were running things did not deal with the issues this engine had before it got a bad name, they really are awesome engines once you work out the flaws.
Sort of, but stronger. There are 4 main studs per bearing journal, but it's a girdle type design which also includes many smaller diameter fasteners around the outside.
i have two 95 cadillacs one has the 4.9 and the other the 4.6 need tips on both cause i really love these cars anybody got any good tips to throw my way
Don't what this guy I talking about but the 3800 went 6 years running as the best v6 built, had a 2000 buick lesabre with the series 2 3800 for about 10 years never had any problem, sold it about year and a half ago and got a 2006 buick lucerne cxs with the 32v northstar my head gasket cracked and now I gotta replace the whole engine gonna cost me about $4000 trust me go with the 3800
go with the northstar i use one in a jetboat in nz after 10 years of work i had my first problem where the water pump belt tensioner bearing broke real easy fix . i have a limp mode installed in computer a must im about build a new modified motor and will be using jakes head and bottom end studs this engine punches well above its weight email me on asset.pritchard @gmail.com thnx

Every day I swear this blonde angel would streak through my yard at tight or dusk at different ages, yelling Tom Jones I heard Elvis lives hear! Judy take pictures incase his ghost sees these!
OK so just throwing thisout there but I would drive my 95 Cadillac for Norstar performance If they had sponsors I’ll be waiting for the judgment in the comments
I would seriously stay away from this company. Not forthcoming. Will never honor any problems arising from his work he will simply blame it on some other issue not to mention forget getting your vehicle back in a timely manner.
You can tell the Northstar is a racing design, shame caddy did not address these minor issues and saved it from getting a bad name.
KJBPSkipper never understood why either.
Yeah. A "racing design" that began as a transverse-mounted V8 in Cadillac DeVilles. Real "race cars". Dumbass.

@@deeremeyer1749 Using Dec-Cool will not save you from head Stud failure, the threads are small and fine, coolant type has nothing to do with it.
They actually changed all of these problems from 2004-2005 on with them... made the engine bulletproof with almost no way to destroy them anymore

I love my cadillacs but damn I hate their engine issues. My HT4100. My 5.0. And now my 06 DTS. No issues yet with it and hopefully I won’t

how could i tell if my 99 Seville has upgraded head bolts without taking my engine apart? Thanks
Remove the oil fill cap, look for a head bolt or a stud. If it looks like an internal hex-drive head bolt, it's factory.
@@NorthstarPerformance Thanks, What year if ever did they upgrade the bolts/studs?
@@EurekaRecycler not an expert and learning myself, but so far i've heard 2005-6 onwards they used the ls6 head bolts ?
How do I get in contact with u

Do you guys sell the same type of tool to help Guide your drill on the top end as for the bottom end, or do u have to send it to a Machine shop?
Main studs are a direct fit.....we don't have oversize in stock currently for the bottom end.
Average labor cost?
How do I purchase my kit
These N* can be cranked to 400HP so easy and they are still bulletproof

If you call adding a supercharger like they did in the XLR-V just to reach 440hp easy.
4 bolt mains?

Stay away from Cadillac NorthStar. Period
Amen!!
Why should we stay away? Please explain
