"Getting the Love You Want" by Harvel Hendrix is a book everyone should read.
He says to NEVER CRITICIZE and that is the most important rule ever.

This was in the beginning for them and they are so passionate about bringing peace into the world. This shows that they are so different people yet they have found a way to have the love you desire.

She interrupts him so much. It seems to contradict the spirit of the exercise. Maybe it's the nerves of being on camera.

Mandy Moore She is using the therapy to be present and attentive and mirror back to him-

That’s exactly what I felt. Interrupting is just so dismissive and it’s hard for me to hear what’s coming next after someone interrupts me lol

She is "overtalking" and rushing to mirror sometimes when she is doing Imago, that is why it lands for us that there is not a complete listening process going on. Also, when he says that her point of view is very hard to see, she "retaliates" with telling him, "... and yours too" instead of mirroring what is there for him and stop the blame game. I feel that she needs to really listen and hear him more.

Is a drill . When we do the "Real Thing" at the end you feel the deep connection and empathy .

The male is doing most of the talking? Curious about the lenses or bias the above comment comes from.

What's so interesting: This couple SHOULD BE REALLY GOOD at validating each other, and....
repeatedly in the video you can in fact see them NOT QUITE DOING IT, and instead quickly raising their own issue, and it's reactive on the part of both, especially him.

So......if they can't quite do it......
Don't you think in fact this ISN'T ENOUGH?
      It *is* a good thing.
      And....IT IS NOT ENOUGH.

Let me be more precise -- they are validating, sure, BUT they are also reacting. They only have improved a little over the normal situation.....
What's needed? Probably some individual healing work! Imago -- a good thing that WON'T work by itself often.

"the purpose of a relationship is to heal one another", I'm sorry, as a Counseling graduate student, this sounds like codependency to me...? Like I agree with the way they support each other but the heart behind this therapy just doesn't sit right with me so far.

This is the kind of dialogue that happens when two people are afraid to let go of raw emotion. Nice idea, but ends up looking and feeling like a business interaction. I don't see the heart connection or a natural flow here. Just my opinion, of course.

It does look a bit 'silly' and formal. I havent started the Imago therapy with my partner yet, however it kinda reminds me how i never can remember somebodys name when they are introduced to me. I guess this kind of mirroring forces my brain to almost mechanically go over the information received.

looks like hard work and who cares about i feel this or that it wastes time, rather say how u want the person to treat u and mirror that...quick easy, i.e. show that u love me by being early.

this is not a therapy this is simply communication and no one can heal our spirit but us no one can heal someone else
