Yeah I don't see a lot of rusty cars here. Usually a few spots in the usual places like door sills, but that's about it. Really rusty cars mostly only come with negligence here. Like the poor old 50's American thing I always see parked in someone's driveway. It's rusty and it's just been sitting in the rain for months. Like at least put a tarp on it dude.
Man, that Willy Wonka joke couldn't be any better/worse timed with the passing of Gene Wilder. I'm not offended, and this was clearly recorded before he died, but it stuck out to me, and made me have a bit of an "awww, man..." moment.
Not sure if you watch KidBehindACamera but exactly 1 day before Gene passed away him and his girlfriend played a prank on his dad about a certain scene from the movie
@mightycarmods so obviously this was recorded before genes death and i think its crazy how that reference was in there. youre not the only video ive seen recently before his death that had a reference. RIP gene.
I've been waiting many many episodes for Moog to play an intercooler like a harp again! Such sounds of automotive brilliance! Pity it was out of tune this time. MORE MOOG MORE!!!
These guys are on point. given me so many ideas..really helped me take my car plans to a whole new level. realizing that anything is possible but also probably not road legal.
Marty is a great wingman! Even when Moog offers a shipwreck of a joke Marty steps up with his supporting remarks, carrying the joke safely to the shore.
I think the Torque figure is much more transparent, since horsepower is simply swapping a 5252 factor around. Torque, of course, should be in Nm (Newton*Metre) ... at any rate, you can tell immediately that, say, 100KW = 134HP, a factor of 1.34
Please do more videos on ignition systems. I fucking love the info in this video. I never realized the ignition system was so crucial to performance. I'm just a nerd who is to broke for school and, loves to find info like this.

You can use modern technology to make old stuff perform way better then you ever thought possible, and a lot of those components are portable, like; you buy LS1 coils and you buy a haltech 750, you can take it with to your next car. That's probably worth more than this car, but the point is you can learn, you can put it on, you can make it better, you can have experience that enjoyment, go and use the car. And when you run into a wall, pull it off put it in a 180 and go do a skid. - Marty
Even MegaSquirt has been pricing themselves out of the budget market. They've never done a single cost reduction in the 15 years they've been making them.
I live in South Africa, for about $350 you can buy a complete localy built ECU that has all the features a Megasquirt has and more, including but not limited to wide band closed loop lambda control, full sequential injection and ignition, 8 general purpose outputs that can be configured on any value the ECU reads or sends out and digital display outputs. We even have ECU's that go for as little as $180, that will run just about any engine you can think of, including rotaries. So in as far as awesomeness and quality goes we have a wide choice locally and the only reaon they aren't more widely known and used is because of where they come from.
Try Perfect Power's XMS system, which is the top of the line ones. We also have Spitronics which are more middle line but lately have been adding features to compete with the former but maintaining their prices. Then we have Dicktator, which have been used in aeroplanes because of their absolute reliability, they aren't so feature rich, but some of the fastest cars in our country still run these. Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with any of these companies, I just think they deserve more exposure than they are getting.
2,000,000 subs When you guys gonna buy the subscriber choice car??? been waiting for yearssssss, since you guys first told us you'd do it at 1,000,000 subs
Not an idea. They actually said they'd do it. A long time ago when they had 100,000 or a couple 100,000 they said they would run a poll and get what ever car they subscribers wanted when they reached 1,000,000 subs but they didn't expect their channel to grow so fast so they changed it to 2,000,000 subs.
Darcy Maybe, there would have to be spoke directly opposed to where the first hole was drilled so it could be balanced. "Edit" Just watched that section again, and a counter weight could be added on that pulley, wasn't sure if it was a symmetrical pulley and not one with a odd number of spokes. They better hope that bolt holds on tight or they might have a "killer dowel pin" issue like the 12valve 5.9 cummins engines.
This isn't a formula 1 engine and we're referencing a tried and tested setup that's been going strong for over a year, it's not ideal but it's definitely done to a budget and works!
And the amazing thing about Haltech is they'll tune your car remotely for you if they have experience with the build. I always wanted to try building and turboing an older Jeep inline 6, reason theyre a massive bullet-proof torque monster, so if you can build the motor so it can rev and then add boost and tons of fuel you have an intense amount of power.
I love the outro! It reminded me of the "goofy fun" bits from driveway era MCM. If I'm honest, I really miss the dancing and techno music upon successful mod completion. If a person can't stop to have a little fun with what they do, why do it at all? Also, this is my first youtube comment ever!... and no I'm not a child , just not internet savvy.
Hey guys..... Air to air intercoolers are more like heat-sinks.... biggest is best... especially if you are running a too-small turbo, beating the shit out of the air, and heating it up, the more surface area the big cooler has, the cooler the air will be, which in turn cools exhaust temps, reducing under bonnet temps, etc... Also the weight of the cooler stores the cold, more weight, more stored coldness.. what about leaving the big one on, and using it as a water-to-air cooler core, and install a water to air under the bonnet? Check pressures both sides of the cooler too, no point losing 100 degrees in temp, while simultaneously losing 10 psi boost.... Remember, turning up the boost on a turbo that small to counteract intercooler restriction will push you up and right on the map, increasing turbo rpm (which dulls response up top) and highly likely into a decreased efficiency area of the map, further increasing air temps, and air volume, further increasing intercooler restriction, while also increasing exhaust back pressure (primarily against the exhaust wheel) reducing overall system efficiency, using more fuel per hp, causing you to have a heavier car anyway... not to mention increased flow vosticies on the internal plumbing... Or, just go get a borg warner s300-sx-e or similar, (maybe even an s200 sx-e) so as to not heat the air up as much to begin with? SHIT!!! Aircon condensor???? WHAT?!?!?! wait a minute, you already have a pre-mounted water-to-air heat exchanger, and you are going to REMOVE IT??? Dude...... duuuuuuuuude..... Shame really, there looks to be lots of room for a water air core behind the battery...

He's not lying about the giant intercooler. My 8"x15" intercooler keeps my truck's intake temps lower than it was when it was NA with just a cold air style intake with a cone filter.

Wow I can only dream of getting 180kw without adding a turbo to my 1.6L N/A cordia I was surprised that when I swapped the old 80s mca system with a mca2 lean burn system added about 22 kW and swapping the old carbs with mikuni twin barrels and that increased power by 36 kW and further tuning got me to 128 kW in total and that took me 6 months of endless working and I'm happy with what I got considering that I started with 55kw out of a 1.6 which was extremely low due to emissions restrictions and the car was limited to that for some reason as it produces 61 kW when I removed some sort of power limiter well I hope one day I can keep this old as heck sohc 4g32 to run to its maximum potential without hurting its self
I miss the budget friendly MCM, doing things in the front yard. Happy they have a shop now, but I miss the budget/free tips they gave. Now i need a shop with a lift, a dyno, an ECU specialist, a Turbo/Fabrication specialist just to even think of what they do now.
And Moog is so definitely riding the universe on his brain chariot pulled by one thousand thought creatures all charging forward with a galaxy shattering ten times the force of every car Mighty Car Mods has ever modded, built or thrashed!

Can confirm: Marty's new intercooler WILL fit on your honda.
That means you can put his old one on The Steve.
His old one won't even fit in the boot
Ayyyyyy
hey man,
I'm so jealous of your access to rust free cars. Road salt is a bitch.
Importing is your friend, and also how they get a lot of their cars too
well we dont have to worry about road salt in australia thats the main thing
FatboiiNicko We get like 200 inches of snow a year here. We use lots of it.
+fatboiinicko but you gotta be careful with the older models living near the ocean. lots of rust

I actually lost my shit at that joke, it was just so out of no where and made no sense
Same
RIP Willy Wonka
@mightycarmods so obviously this was recorded before genes death and i think its crazy how that reference was in there. youre not the only video ive seen recently before his death that had a reference. RIP gene.
Yeah it's sad news :(
indeed :/ thanks for responding mates and thanks for the little chuckle in the reference. cant wait for the next goat to appear.
I know right - so many references... RIP
getting overbearing with commercial crap guys , but awesome vid ;)

congrats on 2 mil +Mighty Car Mods
This episode blew my mind about how smart mechanics can become with conversions like these.
They need to get a TDi and show us what they can do with a Diesel
put it in a skip cus they all sound like vans
Totally. Build it for power and convert it to run on vegetable oil since they love corn juice so much!
the really should buy a mercedes diesel to drift with
I would be fine with any diesel to be honest. Find something like a cheap VW Jetta Tdi and make it a coal burning skid beast! lol
dont diss the van top gears (old good top gear) supped up transit van was great
I can't believe you guys are going on TurboMax. I saw the ModMax at Mt Panorama last year. Can't wait to watch how it all happened again.
How the hell did you know that Gene Wilder was going to die? Illuminatus!
ikr
so that's what killed him?
illuminutsacks!! oh shyt!!!
Where does he say that?
Triple259772 It's just a joke dude. The filming was done concurrently with the video about the 180 rear end, which came out before he died.
Marty is a great wingman! Even when Moog offers a shipwreck of a joke Marty steps up with his supporting remarks, carrying the joke safely to the shore.
MCM need to do like a Kilowatt to Horsepower converter on screen... Just saying... REPJAMAICA
I think the Torque figure is much more transparent, since horsepower is simply swapping a 5252 factor around.
Torque, of course, should be in Nm (Newton*Metre)
... at any rate, you can tell immediately that, say, 100KW = 134HP, a factor of 1.34
It takes literally less than 10 seconds on Google o.0 LOL
whenever they do a dyno run they always tell us both KW and HP for all you people over seas.
Just multiply by 1.34
Numinous but i don't wanna Google for 10 seconds
Please do more videos on ignition systems. I fucking love the info in this video. I never realized the ignition system was so crucial to performance. I'm just a nerd who is to broke for school and, loves to find info like this.
anyone else find it strange how the willy Wonka reference was made, at the time not knowing what became of the star that played him
Illuminati confirmed
I Know! that's what I've been thinking!
was looking for this
sinchronicity man . crazy shit
hey you never know, he could have been talking about the Johnny Depp version
When you refresh at the right time. ohhhh I got the chills 👌
"we put in a break light..."
haha classic!

Guys will you ever go back to japan and do something like you've done before in Chasing Midnight or Kei To The City?
Hopefully :)
I'm still waiting for an episode with the Kei car, they brought back from Japan,
+Chris Middleton Same!
are you on about the JDM Electric Turd?
No, the Kei car they bought and tried to drift with in Japan.

Moog is 100% high as fuck!! 😂😂
Naah, he's just ADHD...just sayin'😳
then fkn say it
just sayin' fkn what
+VCCOMM You watch RCR too?
Looks like he tried the homebrew bong they found in Taytay :))
High off tofu
10:23 is the beautiful rant that encapsulates MCM and modern modding.
Was moog drunk for this episode?
Hes drunk in every episode
Drunk or High lol
+lolatmyage he's not drunk, it's unicorn dust
Cocaine?
I think martys high in some haha
This was too daggone short!....I could barely eat a friggin bowl of cereal while watching this!...we need atleast 25 minutes of content! daggummit!

As awesome as Haltec stuff is, it's not exactly budget friendly. Megasquirt is the answer for the masses.
Even MegaSquirt has been pricing themselves out of the budget market. They've never done a single cost reduction in the 15 years they've been making them.
+unaclocker You do know you can diy one from a kit, right? Less than 300 bucks usd can build you one. That's dirt.
That is one of the Coolest Mods you guys have done. Hands down.
When you're so early, not even recommended videos come up. Also: _white_ MX-5? Hmm, you mean _your_ MX-5? Or is there another Miata in the future?
MOOG just discovered globalization. It's really cute watching him grow up!

+[HOON] STREET what do u want? I want anything with rwd and something with a really high revving engine
+Eshan Sharma Me I want anything that's a rwd, revs to 9k, v6, that's a Honda as well
Would love to see another Budget street cred Episode
10/10 quality outro.
Badass shirt moog. PANTERA!!!
Oh my god, YOU GUYS FIXED THE AUDIO BALANCE. THANK YOU!
I would think drilling and adding a bolt to the cam gear would throw it out of balance and cause a vibration in the engine.
I was thinking the same thing, I reckon you could use a counter weight of some sort though
Darcy
Maybe, there would have to be spoke directly opposed to where the first hole was drilled so it could be balanced.
"Edit" Just watched that section again, and a counter weight could be added on that pulley, wasn't sure if it was a symmetrical pulley and not one with a odd number of spokes. Right on, thanks for the reply. Always enjoy your videos, reminds me of when my friends and i would wrench on our trucks together.
seems like it could wear out/overheat the pulley bearing
I love when he does the harp intercooler thing
moog wheres your mini? I dont see it much anymore :(
+Thomas Craig pretty sure he's joking but I did flinch a little when I read that. It would be horrible to see such a clean car crushed
It'll be back on the show again later. Focusing on getting this nugget 180 running first.
can you wack a juicy v8 from monaro or holden in the 180 or do dragstrip monster to crush supergramps that would be great video for future
there are already a thousand videos on v8 swapped 180/240s. they don't need to make another one. they even did it already with the mad max s14.
11:50 Won't the off center weight distribution in the pulley rip it apart?
eventually. the bigger concern is accelerated bearing wear
Valid concerns, gents. But what would be the alternative?
A small hole in the belt, a light on one side and a light sensor on the other.
You could paint the half of the center black, and half of the center white, to make a homebrew optical encoder.
Lol, I am watching this video while watching my sister which is 3 months old. She started smiling at your intro. Thank you :D
Bet the next guy who owns it will put a chev badge on it coz it has "chevy" coil packs lol
LOL yes
First it was a Mirage, then it was an Evo, and now it's a Commodore.
+MaxTheKanuck also a subaru. because the turbo
Juanga grabiel
I love the outro!
It reminded me of the "goofy fun" bits from driveway era MCM. If I'm honest, I really miss the dancing and techno music upon successful mod completion.
If a person can't stop to have a little fun with what they do, why do it at all?
Also, this is my first youtube comment ever!... and no I'm not a child , just not internet savvy.
Is it me or is Moog's 180 video like 100x better then this one?
This was just short. I liked it
you, i could not care less about another exhaust install or adding plastic bits but i love this episode
Because you don't know much about cars
Typically, videos featuring Moog predominantly are more entertaining. The ones that feature Marty more are more technical and educational.
Aww yeah 2sexy is definitely starting to honour it's name. This build is so glorious. Can't wait to see it on the dragstrip.
You know the guy from willy Wonka just passed away the other day? (After you recorded it before you posted it)
are you mad?
Not trying to bring you down, it is a neat tribute. (I really like your videos you guys are awesome)
At Marty and Blair (not angry) I just thought I would let them know just because it is a coincidence.
+[HOON] STREET I'm furious
Sorry to hear that Quinn, I am sure they had no Ill intent, and they would take the pain you feel and turn it into something positive.
These outros are getting better and better
180SX needs name and song like 2Sexy :)

TayTay has a song....... its goes a little like this brraaaaaap psshhhhhh..T

Maybe they will work on a Holden or Ford V8 someday?
they did, theres a v8 in mod max
and in a $2000 car track challenge one of them bought a vn v8
Reasure the v8 is mod max is a gm engine not a holden specific engine
Been watching your videos for a few years! Just wanted to say thanks for the motivation. Your videos inspired our turbo build!
Yo! That Porsche build is legit. Cheers!😎👍
+evoTimer Thanks man, appreciate it!
Your cam will actually only be spinning at 3500rpm when the engine is at 7000rpm.
which is 10 times the rate of your doodle! Quite right good sir
+Mighty Car Mods 2SEXY does 14.000 rpm no prob.
+Holger Risløw 2sexy revs to 1,000,000 rpms.
+Vooore well.. shit.
unaclocker
Can you explain the problem ?
@10:22 Marty - "I think its a really fun time to be around this kinda stuff, because you can use modern technology to make old stuff perform way better than you ever thought possible. And a lot of those components are portable, like you can buy a LS1 ***" You know the rest :)
I love Aussie slang just "chev" not Chevy or Chevrolet. Just "Chev"
Everyone says chev dumbass
+Jacob Nicolaou Think before you speak. I live in the states and have never heard anyone say Chev lol.
Never heard anyone ever call it that.
no one says that
+grjsb13 everyone I know says chev. faster and easier
Moog was pure fire this episode... Gold
There's a silent Moog in dumb. :)
mighty car mods episode on my birthday best present ever
Irrelevant comment because i havent watched the Episode
dat feel when you see a new MCM vid come up.................................... love ya
When are you guys gonna do a commodore?
These guys prefer to work on good cars.
agreed
You must drive a ford?
+Levi Neave my dad has an insane sleeper wagon
I own a ls1 WH Statesman but I can't drive it because I'm on my red ps man
I searched for Faceballs I should of had safe search on :-0
He's not lying about the giant intercooler. My 8"x15" intercooler keeps my truck's intake temps lower than it was when it was NA with just a cold air style intake with a cone filter.
NOTIFICATION GOAT SQUAD
baaa
you guys are smart. props on all your success with MCM
just fyi in order for the cam to be spinning at 7000 rpms the motor would be spinning at 14000. I wanna see that!!
That was really nice and subtle sound editing on the intercooler. :D
Lmao @ 9:00 😂
and @ 11:30
thank god these episodes are free
willy wonka jokes 😐
No jokes, and this was filmed before Gene passed, RIP>
Alzheimer's is a bitch. We really need to support all of the research so that we can get rid of it for good.
I heard that you guys got a tv show. Congratulations
Just put the entire LS1 in there and stop fucking about.
mcm is a universal tutorial of what could be done in a driveway they need there own tv show
Love the Bunnings 'make your own bracket' on the coil mount :'D
Moog was wearing a Pantera T-shirt
The intercooler harp joke is strangely satisfying XD.
Yes, I too play the intercooler. Soothes the soul.
7000 rpm at the camshaft is just sick!
"You can learn, you can put it on and make it better and have that experience and enjoyment, and when you run into a wall you can pull it off and put it in a 180 and do a skid"-Marty MCM 2016
I have an rx8 and tons of people make a retrofit kit for these cars. I have one and it's nice, as long as you acquire quality coils.
The Haltec ECU, plus labor to install and set up, is worth more than 2SEXY. I love it XD
I know you guys filmed this before the great Gene Wilder passed.... But It hit me where it hurts.
You guys need a behind the scenes episode! don't remember if you guys ever did make one lol love the show, keep modding!!! 👍
out of all the cars they have done, 2sexy is my favorite.
Daves a champ, love him !! Marty should of gone a 4g63 all wheel drive conversion, THAT would be a track car
wish the parts used were linked in description. keep up the good work
Wow I can only dream of getting 180kw without adding a turbo to my 1.6L N/A cordia I was surprised that when I swapped the old 80s mca system with a mca2 lean burn system added about 22 kW and swapping the old carbs with mikuni twin barrels and that increased power by 36 kW and further tuning got me to 128 kW in total and that took me 6 months of endless working and I'm happy with what I got considering that I started with 55kw out of a 1.6 which was extremely low due to emissions restrictions and the car was limited to that for some reason as it produces 61 kW when I removed some sort of power limiter well I hope one day I can keep this old as heck sohc 4g32 to run to its maximum potential without hurting its self
Loved the mounting bracket - I bought the same one from Bunnings to help build an arcade cabinet :D
Mighty Car Mods will be on Discovery Turbo channel ... Woooohoooo congrats making it
Can use this set up with Waste spark also, with minimum wiring.
Done this many time on many cars I have owned well worth the effort.
When you run it into a wall, pull it off, put it in a 180 and go and do a skid.
Wise words from Marty!
when my day is crap and this video came up , best day ever :D
LS1. Making everything better since 1997!
I miss the budget friendly MCM, doing things in the front yard. Happy they have a shop now, but I miss the budget/free tips they gave. Now i need a shop with a lift, a dyno, an ECU specialist, a Turbo/Fabrication specialist just to even think of what they do now.
These guys deserve so much more views!
And Moog is so definitely riding the universe on his brain chariot pulled by one thousand thought creatures all charging forward with a galaxy shattering ten times the force of every car Mighty Car Mods has ever modded, built or thrashed!
"I think it's a really fun time to be around this kind of stuff, because you can use modern technology to make old stuff perform way better than you ever thought possible, and a lot of those components are portable like you buy ls1 coils and you buy a haltech 750 you can take it with you to your next car, thats probably worth more than this car but the point is you can learn you can put it on you can make it better you can have that experience and enjoyment and go and use the car and when you run it into a wall, pull it off and put it on a 180 and do a skid" - Marty

But will it blend? That is the question.
MAKE IT MEME
"put it on a 180 and do a skid" lol that part tickles me more than it should. Like just one skid? lol
Little smaller intercooler, and maybe a nice aftermarket lip kit or front bumber.
...that "and maybe" part sounds like the start to a slippery slope with a sad ending when the car is done and it looks like when he bought it =P (jk)
I was wondering why I couldn't get to sleep, mcm was coming, I knew it in my loins
