Thanks, Nell - to see Parts 2 & 3 of the Lecture go to Ramsay Wood (Amazon.com OR Amazon.co.uk OR Amazon.in) Author Page- and find •Author Update• under the book covers. To the right of you'll find two more 15 minute clips (which is the max Amazon allows in one go) Hence the splitting up into 3 parts.

Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism didn't exactly started as religions. They were more like school of thoughts. What we call today as "Hindu texts" mentions about various school of thoughts and Buddhism and Jainism were part of it. Development of division of religions is quite recent in east and were brought in East by Europeans. And as a matter of fact, 99% of so called "Hindu Sanskrit Texts" are not exactly religious in modern sense. This is the reason why most people consider Panchtantra a Hindu text (classified so by modern historians). In Indian religions, people don't usually classify themselves in same manner as we do in west. So, you will find same ancient temple or cave having sculptures, paintings and mantras belonging to different religions in modern sense. People of one religion visits and prays at shrines belonging to other religion.
