Something I find funny is how both the Brotherhood and the Institute, two of the most scientifically advanced factions in the wasteland, had to rely on wasteland scientists to get Liberty Prime up and running despite the myriad scientists at their disposal.
You don't get engineers and biologists to do a technicians job.
Because they think I side the box wasteland science is anything but inside the box
It's amazing, we have all these spectacular power sources, like micro fusion batteries and literal fission powered cars, and we still can find a power source big enough
Yeah the MFB/C came out in 2066. Libby P started development in 2072. So the micro fusion tech was still new.
@@N_orte And much more to the tune of a bunch of human sized suits, than one, massive piece of technology
@@N_orte You need to start big to understand the small when it comes to nuclear because it is less forgiving. How the heck was the micro and mini fusion reactor figured out before the research and industrial scale? The only way I could think of that working is cold fusion. The problem with that though is that it could definitely be scaled up, so why not just shove in the disposable reactor into him for the time being, and then figure out the other stuff later. Well, that's only if the fusion we see is in fact cold fusion, if not then it makes even less sense because then they would know how to make it work.
@@midgetman4206 I think then it'd be a case of "how do we get liberty to not turn anchorage into a radioactive hellscape?"
A reactor big enough to power him might also have storage issues due to how he was constructed as well as issues with excess heat management perhaps similar to the fallout 4 sentry bot ?

Prime’s Problem went a little deeper then just power, they could power Prime easily the problem was that they couldn’t power both him and the Tesla Shield Generator meant to protect him from Heavy bombardments (like the one that destroyed him in Fallout 3) at the same time.
It's kinda funny to think that for how powerful Liberty Prime is, he could potentially be brought down by the boomers spamming their howitzers at him.

So...dr Lee is canonically smarter than house? No wonder the Institute let her in
At least when it comes to fusion power solutions, yes. When RobCo and GAI were working on Libby P, fusion power was still in its infancy.
Eh I wouldn’t say that
It’s more like the technology at that time wasn’t at that level
I think House was only working on the robotic systems, GA was to work on the powerplant and laser systems. Not sure who provided the nuclear footballs
Pre-War America could have fixed the power issue if they committed more time to it but it still would have taken them a few more months to get done.
For sure, but using a bunch of T-51b units was way more cost efficent, was easier to make so they kind of suspended the manifacturing of Prime
@@killer-kx9gc Essentially the same thing that happened with American battleships through WWII. The Montana-class was shelved, and then canceled entirely, in favor of making more aircraft carriers.
I mean how effective would prime even be in an all out conflict? It took one concentrated strike to take him out.
The Enclave quite literally had to nuke him from orbit. The same strike proves capable of compromising sites meant to survive an ICBM hit.
Even if his armor was made predominantly of Saturnite, building him was almost certainly cheaper than destroying him.
and then it got nuked from orbit just as it broke through Enclave defenses
Okay but the robot at the Cambridge polymer labs in fallout 4 says that prime helped liberate anchorage right? The lore is so muddled
Companies in the Fallout series are often known to lie to consumers and even employees, just look at Vault-Tec and Hallucigen
@@sebdom7850 ya but that seems like a terrible lie to try to tell. We know that there was newspaper coverage of the war and there were of course veterans who would have come back and told stories. But prime doesn’t appear in any newspaper I know of. He’s also missing in operation anchorage in fallout 3 (I know it’s just a simulation, but shouldn’t he have been there if he was going to be used in the actual battle). Idk, the more I think about it the more disappointed I am in the haphazard way that Bethesda treated the lord in fallout four . I mean, they fucked up some pretty simple stuff lol
It’s purpose was to help liberate Anchorage. It was even programmed with voice lines about liberating Anchorage, but like I said in the video, it first came online in 2277
They wanted to “boast” to get money, even if people knew it was a lie. Fallout if dull of lying companies, though their lies are not as bad as vault tec or hallucigen
Democracy roll out
In the words of legendary war hero, "COMMUNIST DETECTED ON AMERICAN SOIL, LETHAL FORCE ENGAGED!"
Judging by how Prime dies in FO3, and how deadly Anchorage bombing was, I dont think Prime would have been able to liberate Anchorage on its own.
To be fair the bombing in Broken Steel was a Orbital strike while the Bombing in Alaska was Artillery and... well bombers.
Prime was supossed to have some kind of shield against bombing. Unfortunatelly it caused the problem with power, because Prime was not able to power itself and the shield generator simultaneously, which led to destruction of Libery Prime by Enclave
Liberty Prime has the best voice lines
Imagine Mr. House just having not only his own Prime in the Fort Bunker alongside his Securitron army, but is in fact the intended vessel for none other than Mr. New Vegas himself
"Whoops, lemme get my fighting fedora on"
When the Liberty is Prime.
I mean I'm so confused how they had made miniature nuclear reactors but couldn't make a slightly bigger battery bruh
Someone needs to make a diamond select iron giant style poseable liberty prime action figure I would pay for it so fast
If I ever develop dementia in my old age, i feel like these fallout lore shorts will be the only thing floating around my brain. Just playing on a loop.
If Liberty Prime does make you say “murica” with his badass voice lines I dunno what will 😂
If the ultracite power cell that was discovered in 76 was incorporated in the lore of everything after and before it, then prime would've had an efficient power source the entire time
Yes but then they would have had to convert the entire system to ultracite. Something of an unknown. It'd be stupid considering it wasn't a guarantee to work. And it's a rare material so far only known to be dound in the Appalachian mountains. Considering they wanted an army of them to hit the mainland of china before the bombs fell it would have been counter intuitive to use rare materials.
"We could use an ultracite core?"
.... and just how do you suppose we pay for enough ultracite to make a battery that fucking big? Assuming it doesn't just blow us up?
"Okay, fair enough."
Prime? Get the coins, we need to P Rank them
imagine this lad in helldivers 2
How could they hate Lyons, he gave them a giant robot
Liberty prime is just another level of "dont mess with me"
It wasn't just the power source that was the problem, the combat subroutines also caused the weapons and interfaces to short out.
A weapon so powerful that it was simply too powerful for its time. Insane.
Go Maddie!
Just realised that this is just Fallout's Numidium
The biggest problem is that a giant robot in the nuclear wasteland was brought online by some guys in metal armour that hides in bunkers and there isn't one car that is capable of starting apart from the highway man.
Putting pieces together that clearly go together and then placing in a battery is easier than trying to fix a car from wrecks you see

With the fallout TV show having the brotherhood ending as the canon one it’s safe to assume with the brotherhood having infinite power liberty prime is going to be the king
Playing Take It Back for the first time was a moment alright

As cool as it may look, realistically liberty prime would be immensely impractical due to its tonnage, low speed and sheer size. It'd suffer the same problems as the German maus tank, too heavy to cross the majority of bridges, very vulnerable to artillery and difficult to transport from battlefield to battlefield especially in the wasteland, due to lack of logistical infrastructure
You're not wrong, but I mean, they've got the predwyn and vertibirds. Assembly only takes a few days. That's pretty quick for a game changing reusable weapon like prime.

In Canon, I like to say that the Pre-war US had the know how to make prime work but the knowledge was discovered by the varying corporations that ruled over the US. Only the brotherhood, who had been scouring old war ruins that combined all the collective knowledge to make Liberty prime to work
I suppose this could make sense, but nuclear fusion power was still relatively new at the time of LP’s construction, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the genius behind it needed some time to figure out how solutions using the new technology.

Fun Fact: In FO3 there was originally a quest where the player character had to go into an unexplored area of Rivet City to find a new power source for Liberty Prime.
“well I had vanguard on for like fucking years man” so thats why his 10k pc always crashed
Liberty Prime had enough power, it's issue was that it couldn't shunt the power properly to all of it's systems without some of them shorting out. Maddison was a specialist in system like that which is why she was selected to work on project purity. She never really says where she learned her skills from or why but her specialty in power systems was not in high demand in the post war wasteland so i imagine there's not many people like her around to draw from when the need arrives.
Wait they made the robot before they even knew of a power source to activate it?
